  • BACKGROUND Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to in general to a drinking straw, and more particularly, to an improved fixed or not fixed silicone top drinking straw capable of increasing a flowing speed of a fluid to enhance an insulation effect, enhanced convenience in drinking of liquid and a collapsible structure for enhanced storage and portability.
  • Description of the Related Art
  • BPA is a harmful chemical found in plastics that mimics the activity of hormones, most commonly estrogen, which can lead to a number of reproductive disorders and other conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease. Plus, considering it an environmental hazard, if a single person were to use a plastic straw every day for the next ten years, there would be 3,650 straws worth of landfill! It is thus imperative to switch to reusable items and recycle plastic items as much as possible. In the market today, there are dozens of alternatives to plastic straws, including Glass Straws, Bamboo Straws and Stainless-Steel Straws are available.
  • While glass straws may add elegance to any dining table, it is not safe to use for the kids or for travel. Likewise, bamboo straws may only seem a good option if you are throwing a tropical themed straw party. Stainless steel straws are ideal for just about any occasion. Not only do they add elegance to the dining room but are considerably more durable as compared to plastic straws. There are multiple inventions that are registered in prior art focusing on metallic straws. For instance, a Drinking straw issued to Desmond Margetson bearing U.S. Pat. No. 2,004,018,2461A1 depicts an elongated metal straw provided with a plurality of perforations at one end which act as a filter against any particles in a liquid to be consumed when the inserted end is pressed vertically on the base of the drinking vessel.
  • Another invention a telescopic drinking straw bearing U.S. Pat. No. 3,776,458A issued to CREATIVE PROD LINES Inc depicts a first elongated tubular cylinder has a second tubular cylinder slidably disposed therein. The first cylinder and the second cylinder are provided with annular flanges which retain the ends of a coil spring disposed over the cylinders. The spring forces the second cylinder vertically upward out of the first cylinder when the cap of a container in which the straw is packaged is removed, thereby making the straw available to the user for drinking of the liquid in the container. The outer cylinder of the drinking straw may also be provided with a plurality of slots at a particular point along its length. One end of the telescopic outer portion is affixed to the inner section of the straw, so that when the outer section is compressed downwardly to be packaged into a bottle, the portion containing the slots will extend outwardly and act as a spring forcing the outer telescopic section against the inner surface of the container cap. When the cap is removed, the extended portions contract inwardly, forcing the telescopic section out of the container.
  • A Cooling drinking straw issued to Rebotier; Thomas bearing U.S. Pat. No. 5,947,378A depicts the invention consists of inserting one or several cores (71) in the central straw (51) of a drinking unit, through which the beverage (21) flows to be cooled or heated, flows the fluid to be heated or cooled. By altering the flow, the core plus tube system is equivalent to a narrower and longer tube. This allows to manufacture an efficient non-coiled central straw. The straw and core characteristic of the invention can have different shapes. The core needs not have the full length of the straw. In most embodiments the core has no thermal role, but in particular cases it can contribute to the heat or cold storage. Several cores, not necessarily joined, can be used in the same straw. Core and straw or straw only can be bent and shaped in various shapes. The drinking unit can be made of an enclosure (61) containing an active or passive (11) medium delivering cold or heat. The end-pieces of the unit (81, 91) can be made to accommodate detachable extensions such as a mouthpiece or a straw extension.
  • A beverage can end with a straw opening end bearing US Patent No US2,003,021,380,3A1 issued to Ball Corp depicts an invention related to a metallic beverage end closure which is adapted to receive a drinking straw through a puncturable membrane in one embodiment, and which utilizes a hinged closure mechanism in another embodiment to provide access to a beverage stored in a container interconnected thereto.
  • A Lid-drinking straw assembly having U.S. Pat. No. 5,071,019A issued to Sizemore David W is a lid-straw assembly installable on an opened beverage can to facilitate the process of drinking the liquid beverage from the can. The lid includes a peripheral rim wall that snaps down around the upper edge of the can to mount the lid on the can; the rim wall seals against leakage across the can-lid interface. A hollow drinking straw extends through the lid so that a portion of the straw is exposed for drinking purposes; a second portion of the straw extends downwardly into the can for extraction of liquid from the can.
  • An improved metal drinking straw bearing U.S. Pat. No. 9,820,597B1 issued to Fu-nan CHANGJui-Ling Lee is provided. The improved metal drinking straw includes an outer wall provided with a rough surface, an inner wall formed as a smooth mirror surface, and one end formed as a guiding structure. The guiding structure includes at least one first recess and at least one first protrusion. The first recess and the first protrusion are alternately connected.
  • A U.S. Pat. No. 2,011,012,1094A1 issued to Rhett Burney depicts the present invention 10 discloses a drinking straw for water, coffee, tea, soups, similar liquids, and the like 20 comprising a straw or other similar Cylindrical/tubular wall made of plastic, paper, wood, metal, composite or alloy having thermochromic material imbedded 14 therein for sensing the temperature of a liquid or beverage 20 so that the user is informed whether or not the liquid or substance in question is suitable to consume without causing injury to the user's skin or body. The thermochromic material is not readily visible when at room temperature because it is inactive. However, it reacts to and is activated by the temperature of the beverage 20 when inserted therein. Multiple embodiments of the present invention 10 are disclosed.
  • All of the inventions listed above and many other enlisted in prior art have multiple straw assemblies. But most of these assemblies present a straw with limited features. The current invention proposes a combination of metallic, silicone and plastic straw assembly which is a drinking straw made of stainless steel and plastic and where multiple parts can slide to connect the parts. This provides ease of use and a great deal of portability. None of the previous inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant invention as claimed. Hence, the inventor of the present invention proposes to resolve and surmount existent technical difficulties to eliminate the aforementioned shortcomings of prior art.
