Description
- The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/420,266, which was filed on Oct. 28, 2022, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of chair cushions. More specifically, the present invention relates to a lounge chair cushion device that provides a cushion with a lounge chair with an opening that allows a user to lay face down on the cushion. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
- When lying face down on a lounge chair, individuals are seeking comfort and relaxation while sunbathing by a pool, taking a nap, or simply taking it easy. Obstacles presented when lying face down are constant re-positioning for comfort, the need for additional pillow support, and personal comfort level which may vary among individuals. The drawbacks of constantly re-positioning the body and the need for alternative pillow support can lead to potential neck cramping, stiffness, or unwanted pressure on other extremities of the body.
- Moreover, individuals are unable comfortably to lay face down on traditional lounge chair cushions while breathing easily. For individuals to lay completely flat face down on a lounge chair, their breathing passageways may become blocked, and breathing may become labored or difficult. By providing a lounge cushion with an opening for the face, individuals can easily breathe through the opening, enhancing their experience. Additionally, the specially designed cushion allows individuals to reach desired comfort levels while in use.
- However, existing lounge chair cushions in the art do not provide an opening for the face when individuals prefer to lay face down. This is undesirable, as in some instances, users may prefer to lay face down while sunbathing or relaxing on their lounge chair.
- Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a device that improves the experience for individuals when lying on a lounge chair. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a lounge chair cushion device that has an opening for the face while lying on the stomach. Furthermore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a lounge chair cushion device that is adjustable to meet the users desired comfort level.
- The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a lounge chair cushion device. The device is comprised of a body, cover, fasteners, cushion, and opening, preferably made with a cover that is removable and machine washable. Once the device is attached to a lounge chair using the fasteners, the cushion remains secured to the chair to minimal movement. The device is comprised of an opening that allows a user to lay on their stomach and place their face/head within the opening.
- In this manner, the lounge chair cushion device of the present invention accomplishes all the forgoing objectives and provides a device that allows individuals to comfortably lay face down on a lounge chair. More specifically, the lounge chair cushion device allows users to secure, remove, change, and wash the device to maintain and increase the longevity of the cushion.
- The following presents a simplified summary to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

- Further, the cover may be comprised of at least one fastener to allow the cover to secure to the lounge chair. The fasteners secure the device to a lounge chair during use and in various weather conditions. The fasteners also provide an opening for the cushion to be removed and the cover to be cleaned, extending the life of the device.
- Moreover, the body comprises a cushion for comfort and support. Preferably, the cushion is manufactured foam, memory foam, polyester fill or other material known in the art. Further, the cushion is preferably made with materials that protect against mold, mildew, and odor causing bacteria. Further, the density and thickness of the cushion can vary based on individuals desired level of comfort.
- The device is comprised with an opening at the top end of the cushion to provide a resting place for an individual's face when the user chooses to lay face down while on a lounge chair. The opening allows the user to breathe easily without blocking air passageways while lying face down on the cushion. Further, the opening can provide a place for users wearing a hair accessory, such as but not limited to, a ponytail while laying on their back.
- The present invention is also comprised of a method of using the device. First, a device is provided comprised of a body, cover, fasteners, a cushion, and an opening. Then, the user lays the device flat on a lounge chair. Then, a user secures the device to a lounge chair using fasteners. Next, with the device on a lounge chair, the chair is reclined to a flat position. Finally, a user lays face down on the device while a user's face rests in the opening of the device.
