Abstract
A weight bar assembly comprises a first bar, an extension bar, and a weight. The first bar comprises an elongated cylindrical shaft and a collar. A diameter of the collar of the first bar is larger than a diameter of the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar. The collar of the first bar divides the elongated cylindrical shaft into a first exposed portion and a second exposed portion opposite the first exposed portion. The first exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft is longer than the second exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft.

No. 17/366,403 are hereby incorporated by reference. - This invention relates generally to a weight bar exercise apparatus. More particularly, the present invention relates to a weight bar assembly comprising a first bar, one or more extension bars, and one or more weights.
- U.S. Pat. No. 7,364,536 to Cappellini et al. discloses a weight bar including an elongated tube having two opposing internally threaded ends. International Patent Publication No. WO9309850 to Siegfried discloses a long dumbbell and a short dumbbell. Korean Patent Application Publication No. KR20170050795 to Park discloses a weight bar including a pair of segments. U.S. Pat. No. 5,628,713 to Wilkinson discloses an adjustable exercise pole.
- The weight bar assembly of instant application allows a user to conduct various weight bar exercises. A time duration for assembling the weight bar assembly of instant application is reduced.
- A weight bar assembly comprises a first bar, an extension bar, and a weight. The first bar comprises an elongated cylindrical shaft and a collar. A diameter of the collar of the first bar is larger than a diameter of the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar. The collar of the first bar divides the elongated cylindrical shaft into a first exposed portion and a second exposed portion opposite the first exposed portion. The first exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft is longer than the second exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft.
- The weight bar assembly further comprises a second bar and an additional weight. The weight bar assembly is characterized by: a separated condition in which the first bar, the extension bar, the second bar, the weight, and the additional weight are separated from one another. The weight bar assembly is characterized by: an assembled condition in which the first bar connects to the extension bar; the extension bar connects to the second bar; the weight is mounted on the first bar; and the additional weight is mounted on the second bar.

In one example, thecollar 5 is made by a single piece construction (for example, by a single casting process). Thecollar 5 may be welded onto the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 of thebar 1. In one example, the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 comprises an internally threaded end 4. In another example, the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 comprises two opposite internally threaded ends. In examples of the present disclosure, an outer surface of thecollar 5 of thebar 1 comprises a constant diameter. -
FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of anextension bar 2 in examples of the present disclosure. In one example, theextension bar 2 comprises abar 210 and acap 7. In one example, thecap 7 is optional. Thebar 210 comprises an externally threaded post 6 at a first end and an internally threaded second end. Thecap 7 covers the internally threaded second end. -
FIG. 3 shows a side view of components of aweight bar assembly 300 in a separated condition in examples of the present disclosure. Theweight bar assembly 300 comprises abar 1, anextension bar 2, aweight 8, and a retainingclamp 10. In one example, theweight 8 is of a disk shape. In one example, theweight 8 is made by a single piece construction (for example, by a single casting process). In one example, theweight 8 is a slidable weight disk configured to be directly attached to thebar 1 by the retainingclamp 10. In one example, theextension bar 2 is shorter than thebar 1. -
FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of theweight bar assembly 300 ofFIG. 3 in an assembled condition in examples of the present disclosure. Thebar 1 is connected to theextension bar 2. Theweight 8 comprises acentral hole 9. Theweight 8 is mounted on thebar 1 through thecentral hole 9 of theweight 8. - Referring now to
FIGS. 1, 3 and 4 , aweight bar assembly 300 comprises afirst bar 1, anextension bar 2, and aweight 8. Thefirst bar 1 comprises an elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 and acollar 5. A diameter of thecollar 5 of thefirst bar 1 is larger than a diameter of the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 of thefirst bar 1. Thecollar 5 of thefirst bar 1 divides the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 into a first exposedportion 310 and a second exposedportion 330 opposite the first exposed portion 31. The first exposedportion 310 of the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 is longer than the second exposedportion 330 of the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3. - In examples of the present disclosure, the first exposed
portion 310 of the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 comprises a first constant outer diameter. The second exposedportion 330 of the elongatedcylindrical shaft 3 comprises a second constant outer diameter. A value of the first constant outer diameter equals to a value of the second constant outer diameter. -
FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of afoot attachment 17 in examples of the present disclosure. Thefoot attachment 17 comprises asole foot attachment 18, astrap 20 attached to thesole foot attachment 18, and atransverse bore 19 configured to receive thefirst bar 1. An end of thetransverse bore 19 is acircle 570. Thestrap 20 is releasable. -
FIG. 6 shows ahammer head attachment 14 and anadapter 52 in examples of the present disclosure. Thehammer head attachment 14 comprises acylinder 15 comprising a central, threaded bore 16. The weight bar assembly further comprises theadaptor 52. Theadaptor 52 comprises two opposing threaded posts: a first threadedpost 53 and a second threadedpost 655. The first threadedpost 53 is configured to couple with thehammer head attachment 14 through the central, threaded bore 16. The second threadedpost 655 is configured to couple with an internally threaded end of theextension bar 2. -
FIG. 7 shows a retainingclamp 700 in examples of the present disclosure. In one example, the retainingclamp 700 is spring-biased. The retainingclamp 700 comprises afirst button 13, asecond button 735, afirst bias member 791, asecond bias member 793, and a cup-shapedhousing 11 comprising acentral hole 12. Thefirst button 13 and thesecond button 735 are positioned on acone surface 722 of the cup-shapedhousing 11. Pressing on thefirst button 13 toward the cone surface of the cup-shapedhousing 11 retracts thefirst bias member 791 away from a center of thecentral hole 12 of the cup-shapedhousing 11. Pressing on thesecond button 735 toward the cone surface of the cup-shapedhousing 11 retracts thesecond bias member 793 away from the center of thecentral hole 12 of the cup-shapedhousing 11. Pressing on thefirst button 13 and thesecond button 735 does not change the diameter of thecentral hole 12 of the cup-shapedhousing 11. -
FIG. 8 shows a perspective view of a weight bar assembly 800 in an assembled condition in examples of the present disclosure. The weight bar assembly 800 comprises afirst bar 1, anextension bar 2, an additional extension bar 802, and aweight 8. A first internally threaded end of the elongated cylindrical shaft of thebar 1 is directly attached to theextension bar 2. A second internally threaded end of the elongated cylindrical shaft of thefirst bar 1 is directly attached to the additional extension bar 802. An internally threaded end 54 of the additional extension bar 802 is covered by the cap 807. -
FIG. 9 shows a perspective view of aweight bar assembly 900 in an assembled condition in examples of the present disclosure. Theweight bar assembly 900 comprises afirst bar 901, afirst extension bar 902, asecond extension bar 904, aneck pad 51, a first weight 914, and asecond weight 916. The first weight 914 is directly attached to thefirst extension bar 902. Thesecond weight 916 is directly attached to thesecond extension bar 904. Theneck pad 51 is directly attached to thefirst bar 901. -
FIG. 10 shows a perspective view of a weight bar assembly 1000 in a separated condition in examples of the present disclosure. The weight bar assembly 1000 comprises abar 1, afirst cap 1007, asecond cap 1009, arope 60, aplug 61, a threadedpost 62, and aweight 1014. One end of therope 60 is configured to spirally wrap around thebar 1. The threadedpost 62 is configured to be coupled with a bore of theweight 1014. -
FIG. 11 shows a side view of components of aweight bar assembly 1200 in a separated condition in examples of the present disclosure.FIG. 12 shows a side view of theweight bar assembly 1200 ofFIG. 11 , in an assembled condition in examples of the present disclosure. Theweight bar assembly 1200 comprises afirst bar 1201, anextension bar 1202, asecond bar 1221, afirst weight 1208, and asecond weight 1228. Thefirst bar 1201 comprises an elongatedcylindrical shaft 1203 and acollar 1205. Thesecond bar 1221 comprises an elongatedcylindrical shaft 1223 and acollar 1225. - The
weight bar assembly 1200 is characterized by: a separated condition in which thefirst bar 1201, theextension bar 1202, thesecond bar 1221, thefirst weight 1208, and thesecond weight 1228 are separated from one another. - The
weight bar assembly 1200 is characterized by: an assembled condition in which thefirst bar 1201 connects to theextension bar 1202; theextension bar 1202 connects to thesecond bar 1221; theextension bar 1202 is between thefirst bar 1201 and thesecond bar 1221; thefirst weight 1208 is mounted on the elongatedcylindrical shaft 1203 of thefirst bar 1201; thefirst weight 1208 contacts thecollar 1205 of thefirst bar 1201; thesecond weight 1228 is mounted on the elongatedcylindrical shaft 1223 of thesecond bar 1221; and thesecond weight 1228 contacts thecollar 1225 of thesecond bar 1221. - In examples of the present disclosure, a
length 1292 of theweight bar assembly 1200 is 47 inches (1.19 m). Alength 1282 of thefirst bar 1201 is 21.5 inch (0.54 m). Alength 1284 of thesecond bar 1221 is 21.5 inch (0.54 m). Alength 1272 of an exposed portion of theextension bar 1202 is 4 inches (0.1 m). - In examples of the present disclosure, each of the
first weight 1208 and thesecond weight 1228 is of a disk shape. Thefirst weight 1208 is of a single-piece construction (for example, by a single casting process). Thesecond weight 1228 is of another single-piece construction (for example, by another single casting process). - In examples of the present disclosure, the
extension bar 1202 comprises afirst post 1105 and asecond post 1125 opposite thefirst post 1105. Thefirst post 1105 comprises a firstnon-threaded section 1106 and a first threadedsection 1108 longer than the firstnon-threaded section 1106 of thefirst post 1105. Thesecond post 1125 comprises a secondnon-threaded section 1126 and a second threadedsection 1128 longer than the secondnon-threaded section 1126 of thesecond post 1125. - In one example, in the assembled condition (
FIG. 12 ), thenon-threaded section 1106 is loosely disposed in a cavity of the internally threadedend 1191. In this case, an outer dimeter of thenon-threaded section 1106 is in a range from 80% to 95% of an inner diameter of a non-threaded section of the internally threadedend 1191. In another example, in the assembled condition (FIG. 12 ), thenon-threaded section 1106 is lightly pressed (still rotatable) in the cavity of the internally threadedend 1191. In this case, an outer dimeter of thenon-threaded section 1106 is in a range from 100.01% to 102% of an inner diameter of the non-threaded section of the internally threadedend 1191. - In examples of the present disclosure, a
length 1152 of the extension bar is 9 inches (0.23 m). Alength 1142 of thefirst post 1105 is 2.5 inches (0.06 m). Alength 1144 of thesecond post 1125 is 2.5 inches (0.06 m). - In examples of the present disclosure, the
first bar 1201 comprises an internally threadedend 1191. Thesecond bar 1221 comprises another internally threadedend 1193. The internally threadedend 1191 comprises a cavity comprising a stop configured to be contacted by an end of thefirst post 1105. The internally threadedend 1193 comprises a cavity comprising a stop configured to be contacted by an end of thesecond post 1125. - In examples of the present disclosure, the
weight bar assembly 1200 is characterized by: the assembled condition in which theweight bar assembly 1200 is symmetric with respect to amiddle point 1299 of theweight bar assembly 1200. -
FIG. 13 shows a side view of components of aweight bar assembly 1400 in a separated condition in examples of the present disclosure.FIG. 14 shows a side view of theweight bar assembly 1400 ofFIG. 13 , in an assembled condition in examples of the present disclosure. Theweight bar assembly 1400 comprises afirst extension bar 1420, asecond extension bar 1440, and aweight 1460 of a sphere shape. Thefirst extension bar 1420 comprises afirst end 1422 comprising internal threads and apost 1424 positioned at a second end of thefirst extension bar 1420. Thesecond extension bar 1440 comprises afirst end 1442 comprising internal threads and apost 1424 positioned at a second end of thesecond extension bar 1440. Theweight 1460 comprises an internally threadedhole 1462. - The
weight bar assembly 1400 is characterized by: a separated condition in which thefirst extension bar 1420, thesecond extension bar 1440, and theweight 1460 are separated from one another. Theweight bar assembly 1400 is characterized by an assembled condition in which thefirst extension bar 1420 is connected to thesecond extension bar 1440; and thesecond extension bar 1440 is connected to theweight 1460. - Those of ordinary skill in the art may recognize that modifications of the embodiments disclosed herein are possible. For example, a mass of the
weight 8 may vary. Other modifications may occur to those of ordinary skill in this art, and all such modifications are deemed to fall within the purview of the present invention, as defined by the claims.
Claims (19)
1. A weight bar assembly comprising:
a first bar comprising
an elongated cylindrical shaft; and
a collar;
an extension bar; and
a weight;
wherein a diameter of the collar of the first bar is larger than a diameter of the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar;
wherein the collar of the first bar divides the elongated cylindrical shaft into
a first exposed portion; and
a second exposed portion opposite the first exposed portion;
wherein the first exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft is longer than the second exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft; and
wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
an assembled condition in which
the extension bar connects to the first bar; and
the weight is attached to the first bar or the extension bar.
2. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 , wherein said extension bar comprises:
a bar comprising
an externally threaded post at a first end; and
an internally threaded second end; and
a cap covering the internally threaded second end; and
wherein the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar comprises a pair of opposing, internally threaded ends.
3. The weight bar assembly of claim 2 , wherein the weight is a hammer head attachment; and
wherein said hammer head attachment comprises:
a weighted cylinder comprising a central, threaded bore configured to couple with the externally threaded post of the extension bar.
4. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 , wherein the weight is a foot attachment; and wherein said foot attachment comprises:
a sole foot attachment;
a strap attached to the sole foot attachment; and
a transverse bore configured to receive the first bar;
wherein an end of the transverse bore is a circle.
5. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 further comprising an adaptor; wherein the weight is a hammer head attachment; and wherein the adaptor comprises:
two opposing threaded posts comprising
a first threaded post configured to couple with the hammer head attachment; and
a second threaded post configured to couple with an internally threaded end of the extension bar.
6. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 , wherein the extension bar is shorter than the first bar.
7. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 , wherein the weight is a slidable weight disk configured to be directly attached to the first bar by a clamp.
8. The weight bar assembly of claim 7 , wherein the clamp comprises
a cup-shaped housing comprising:
a cone surface; and
a central aperture;
a pair of spring-biased gripping members extending into the central aperture; and
a pair of buttons operatively to retract the pair of spring-biased gripping members;
wherein the pair of buttons are positions on the cone surface of the cup-shaped housing.
9. The weight bar assembly of claim 7 further comprising an additional extension bar;
wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
the assembled condition in which
a first internally threaded end of the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar is directly attached to the extension bar; and
a second internally threaded end of the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar is directly attached to the additional extension bar.
10. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 ,
wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
the assembled condition in which
the weight is attached to the extension bar.
11. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft comprises a first constant outer diameter;
wherein the second exposed portion of the elongated cylindrical shaft comprises a second constant outer diameter; and
wherein a value of the first constant outer diameter equals to a value of the second constant outer diameter.
12. The weight bar assembly of claim 11 , wherein an outer surface of the collar of the first bar comprises a constant diameter.
13. The weight bar assembly of claim 1 further comprising
a second bar comprising
an elongated cylindrical shaft; and
a collar; and
an additional weight;
wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
a separated condition in which
the first bar, the extension bar, the second bar, the weight, and the additional weight are separated from one another; and
the assembled condition in which
the extension bar connects to the second bar;
the extension bar is between the first bar and the second bar;
the weight is mounted on the elongated cylindrical shaft of the first bar;
the weight contacts the collar of the first bar;
the additional weight is mounted on the elongated cylindrical shaft of the second bar; and
the additional weight contacts the collar of the second bar.
14. The weight bar assembly of claim 13 , wherein each of the weight and the additional weight is of a disk shape.
15. The weight bar assembly of claim 14 , wherein the weight is of a single-piece construction;
and wherein the additional weight is of another single-piece construction.
16. The weight bar assembly of claim 13 , wherein the extension bar comprises:
a first post; and
a second post opposite the first post;
wherein the first post comprises
a first non-threaded section; and
a first threaded section longer than the first non-threaded section of the first post; and
wherein the second post comprises
a second non-threaded section; and
a second threaded section longer than the second non-threaded section of the second post.
17. The weight bar assembly of claim 16 , wherein the first bar comprises an internally threaded end; and wherein the second bar comprises another internally threaded end.
18. The weight bar assembly of claim 13 , wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
the assembled condition in which
the weight bar assembly is symmetric with respect to a middle point of the weight bar assembly.
19. A weight bar assembly comprising:
a first extension bar comprising:
a first end comprising internal threads; and
a post positioned at a second end of the first extension bar;
a second extension bar comprising:
a first end comprising internal threads; and
a post positioned at a second end of the second extension bar; and
a weight of a sphere shape, the weight comprising an internally threaded hole;
wherein the weight bar assembly is characterized by:
a separated condition in which
the first extension bar, the second extension bar, and the weight are separated from one another; and
an assembled condition in which
the first extension bar is connected to the second extension bar; and
the second extension bar is connected to the weight.
