FIG. 8 shows a partial perspective rear view of the moveable storage assembly ofFIG. 1 ; and -
FIG. 9 shows a partial perspective top view of the moveable storage assembly ofFIG. 1 . - Referring generally to the Figures, there is shown an example of a
movable storage assembly 3. -
FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of themoveable storage assembly 3. Themoveable storage assembly 3 comprises astorage bag 1 and atrolley 400 having a substantially L-shaped configuration in use and comprising one or more wheels. Thestorage bag 3 is attached to thetrolley 400. - The
storage bag 1 has amain compartment 100 suitable for housing sports equipment such as footballs. Themain compartment 100 may take a variety of shapes. In this example, it is formed of six panels including afront panel 100 a, aback panel 100 b, atop panel 100 c, abottom panel 100 d and two opposingside panels main compartment 100 is substantially cuboidal in shape. Themain compartment 100 has at least oneopening 101 which is selectively actuatable by a user. Themain compartment 100 may include alid 110 which defines theopening 101 of themain compartment 100. Where present, thelid 110 forms at least part of one of the panels. In this example, thelid 110 forms part of thetop panel 100 c and thefront panel 100 a. This may be best seen through comparison ofFIGS. 2 and 3 which show front a top views of themoveable storage assembly 3 respectively. - The
lid 110 includes alid fastener 102 configured to selectively secure thelid 110 to the surrounding perimeter ofpanels opening 101. In some embodiments thelid 110 may be completely detachable from the remainder of themain compartment 100. In this example, theopening 101 andlid fastener 102 does not extend around the entirety of thelid 110 and one edge of the lid is permanently directly coupled to thefront panel 100 a of themain compartment 100. Other edges of thelid 110 selectively couple to thetop panel 100 c and/orfront panel 100 a. - The lid fastening means 102 has a plurality of opening states. In this example, where the lid fastening means 102 is a zip, there is a continuous spectrum of opening states from completely open to completely closed. In other embodiments, for example where the lid fastening means 102 is a press fastener, there may be a fixed number of discrete opening states. The
storage bag 1 is shown inFIGS. 1-3 with the lid fastening means 102 in a fully closed state. - In an at least partially open state, the lid fastening means allows the
lid 110 to open forwards, towards thefront panel 100 a. In a partially open or fully open state a user may put sports equipment into themain compartment 100 for storage. For example, the lid 110 (and main compartment) may be configured to receive a standard sized football. For example, themain compartment 100 may be sized to hold 25 footballs. - The
storage bag 1 may further comprise a plurality of additional compartments for storing sports equipment, each with smaller maximum internal volume than themain compartment 100. These additional compartments may include one or more side pockets 130 directly coupled to themain compartment 100. This is best seen inFIGS. 4 and 5 which show right and left side views of themoveable storage assembly 3 respectively. Each of the side pockets 130 have at least one fastener, termed apocket fastener 132. - Each of the
pocket fasteners 132 may selectively secure apocket opening 131 of aside pocket 130 to themain compartment 100 or an edge of theside pocket 130 such that thepocket opening 131 is selectively actuatable by thepocket fastener 132. Alternately, as in this example, eachpocket fastener 132 may be configured to selectively reduce an internal diameter of thepocket opening 131 to which it is attached. This can be seen inFIG. 1 which shows that in this example thepocket fasteners 132 are drawstring closures, each with associatedtoggles 132′. This allows thepocket fastener 132 to better secure item(s) of sports equipment that extend beyond thepocket opening 131, such as slalom poles. Any or all of the side pockets 130 may comprise loops (not shown), configured to receive poles such as slalom poles, disposed on an interior surface thereof. These loops may be secured to aside panel main compartment 100. -
FIG. 6 is a rear view of themoveable storage assembly 3 and shows theback panel 100 b of themain compartment 100. As shown inFIG. 6 , thestorage bag 1 may be adapted to attach to a support structure. The support structure is shown throughout the Figures astrolley 400 which has a substantially L-shaped configuration in use.Trolley 400 comprises two ormore wheels 401. In contrast to the front 100 a, back 100 b, top 100 c andside panels main compartment 100, thetrolley 400 is substantially rigid in form. Thetrolley 400 may comprise aback frame 410 formed of two substantially parallel side bars each connected at one end to atop bar 470 such that theback frame 410 is substantially U-shaped. Theback frame 410 may further comprise one or more back support bars 411 which extend from one of the two side bars of theback frame 410 to the other of the two side bars of theback frame 410. As shown inFIG. 6 , the one or more back support bars 411 may extend substantially perpendicularly to the each of the two side bars of theback frame 410 such that the side bars, top bar 470 and support bars all lie in a common plane (410′). - The
trolley 400 may further comprise abase frame 420 directly coupled to ends of each side bar, opposite thetop bar 470 of theback frame 410, viajoints 412. As shown inFIG. 7 , thebase frame 420 may include one or more base support bars 421 which are substantially parallel to thetop bar 470 of theback frame 410. Thebase support 421 bars may offer structural rigidity to thebase frame 420 to prevent warping under high loads. - In use, the
base frame 420 may extend on either side of theback frame 410. As such, a first end of thebase frame 420 may extend away from a first side of thecommon plane 410′ while a second end of thebase frame 410 extends away from thecommon plane 410′ in an opposite direction. The twowheels 401 may share acommon rotation axis 425 and each be connected to the second end of thebase frame 410. As can be seen inFIG. 5 , which shows thetrolley 400 in use, the first end of thebase frame 420 is substantially planar while the second end of thebase plane 410 curves upwards as thebase frame 420 extends away from thecommon plane 410′. As such, thetrolley 400 is configured such that at rest, the first end of thebase 420 is parallel to a flat surface on which thetrolley 400 sits. This may better stabilise thetrolley 400 on the surface. - The
joints 412 may pivotally couple thebase frame 420 to theback frame 410. Beneficially, this may allow thetrolley 400 to fold from a substantially L-shaped open configuration (in use) to a substantially flat configuration for storage. This is shown inFIG. 5 byblock arrows 2 which represent the movement of thebase frame 420 relative to theback frame 410. When in the folded configuration, the first end of thebase frame 420 may be coplanar with thecommon plane 410′ such that thewheels 401 lie beneath theback frame 410. This may allow a user to wheel thetrolley 400 when it is in the folded configuration. - The
trolley 400 may additionally comprise one ormore struts 426 disposed between theback frame 410 and thebase frame 420 that selectively fix thetrolley 400 in the L-shaped open configuration. In this example, thetrolley 400 includes twostruts 426 where eachstrut 426 is connected to thebase frame 420 and a respective side bar of theback frame 410. Thesestruts 426 may be actuated to enable thetrolley 400 to fold. Thestruts 426 may limit the extent to which thebase frame 420 can pivot with respect to theback frame 410. For example, thestruts 426 may limit the range of motion of thebase frame 420 such that a positive angle between the first end of thebase frame 420 and thecommon plane 410′ is less than or equal to 90 degrees. - The
trolley 400 may further comprise one ormore support arms 430 which extend away from theback frame 410, on the same side of thecommon plane 410′ to the first end of thebase frame 420. In this example, thetrolley 400 comprises twosupport arms 430 each of which being substantially U-shaped having two free ends which directly connect to one of the side bars of theback frame 410. Each of the twosupport arms 430 being connected to a different side bar of theback frame 410. - The
storage bag 1 may be adapted to attach to thetrolley 400. In this way, thetrolley 400 may provide a degree of structural support for thestorage bag 1. Themain compartment 100 may comprise a plurality ofsupport fasteners 140 directly coupled thereto. Each of the plurality ofsupport fasteners 140 may be configured to releasably secure thestorage bag 1 to a support structure, such as thetrolley 400. In this example, each of the plurality ofsupport fasteners 140 are straps operable to wrap around part of thetrolley 400. The plurality ofsupport fasteners 140 may includeside straps 141 directly coupled to one of theside panels support arms 430 of thetrolley 400. As shown inFIG. 6 , the plurality ofsupport fasteners 140 may include one or moreback straps 142 directly coupled theback panel 100 b and configured to wrap around one or more of the support bars 411 of theback frame 410. In this way the back support bars 411 may offer structural rigidity to theback frame 410 and provide attachment points for thestorage bag 1. Alternately or in addition to the other types of strap described in this paragraph, the plurality offasteners 140 may includelateral straps 143 configured to wrap around one of or both of the side bars of theback frame 410. Where present, thelateral staps 143 may be directly coupled to themain compartment 100 at edges between one of theside panels back panel 100 b. Alternately, the one or morelateral straps 143 may be directly coupled to either of theback panel 100 b or both of theside panels support fasteners 140 may be configured to secure thestorage bag 1 relative to thetrolley 400. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , thestorage bag 1 further comprises a sub-compartment 200, for storing sports equipment, releasably coupled to themain compartment 100 by one or more securing means 210. This feature is best seen inFIG. 8 which shows a partial perspective rear view of themoveable storage assembly 3. In this example, the securing means 210 comprises two hook and loop type closures each of which wrap around a respective one of the back straps 142. Alternately, the securing means 210 may directly (releasably) couple to any of the front 100 a, back 100 b, top 100 c orside panels lid 110 of themain compartment 100, on an exterior surface or an interior surface. Thestorage bag 1 may be configured such that the sub-compartment 200 is accessible to the user independently from themain compartment 100. - The sub-compartment 200 is formed of one or more flexible
sub-compartment walls FIG. 8 , the sub-compartment 200 comprises two similar rectangular sub-compartment walls, afront wall 220 a and aback wall 220 b, bonded together around the length of their perimeter. - The sub-compartment 200 has at least one
opening 201 selectively actuatable by the user. In the example shown inFIG. 8 , theopening 201 is formed in thefront wall 220 a and spans the entire width of thefront wall 220 a (width being parallel to thebottom panel 100 d of the main compartment 100). Theopening 201 may be formed in a top half of the sub-compartment 200 or in a top ⅓rd, ⅙th or ⅛th of the sub-compartment 200 (wherein top-to-bottom for the sub-compartment 200 is defined relative to the top andbottom panels opening 201 is open. The sub-compartment 200 may include asub fastener 202 configured to selectively secure edges of theopening 201 together, thereby enabling the user to open and close theopening 201. - Any or all of the
walls walls walls walls 220 a, 200 b may comprise a net or a mesh. As will be understood by those skilled in the art, the plurality of apertures may take any one of a number of suitable configurations such as a grid-type array of squares or rhombi, or suitable irregular conformations. In the example shown inFIG. 8 , the plurality of apertures has a tessellating hexagonal conformation such that thewalls walls walls wall - The sub-compartment 200 may be configured to fit into a washing machine. As such, the sub-compartment 200 may have a maximum internal volume of: less than 60 litres; less than 55 litres; less than 50 litres; or less than 40 litres. The sub-compartment 200 may have a maximum internal volume of at least 0.5 litres or at least 1 litre.
- In use, the sub-compartment 200 may store sports clothing, such as worn bibs collected after a sporting activity (while the sub-compartment 200 is coupled to the main compartment 100). A user may then de-couple the sub-compartment 200 from the
main compartment 100 and place the sub-compartment 200 into a conventional washing machine. The plurality of apertures that perforate the wall(s) 220 a, 220 b of the sub-compartment 200 may facilitate washing of the contents of the sub-compartment 200 by the washing machine while the contents is still within the sub-compartment 200 and theopening 201 is closed. This may negate the need to empty the contents of the sub-compartment 200 into the washing machine, minimising time spent sorting clothes after a wash. This may also save time associated with loading and un-loading a washing machine. - In this example, the securing means 210 and the
sub fastener 202 are distinct and directly coupled to the sub-compartment 200 at different locations. However, as will be understood by those skilled in the art, the securing means 210 and thesub fastener 202 may be the same device. Alternately, thesub fastener 202 may form part of the securing means 210. - Turning to
FIG. 9 which shows a partial perspective top view of themoveable storage assembly 3, thelid 110 forms part of thetop panel 100 c thefront panel 100 a. In an alternative configuration, thelid 110 may form part of the top andback panels top panel 100 c and not form part of any other panel of themain compartment 100. - The
lid 110 includes alid fastener 102 configured to selectively secure thelid 110 to the surrounding perimeter ofpanels opening 101. In some embodiments thelid 110 may be completely detachable from the remainder of themain compartment 100. In this example, theopening 101 andlid fastener 102 do not extend around the entirety of thelid 110 and one edge of the lid is permanently directly coupled to thefront panel 100 a of themain compartment 100. The
storage bag 1 is shown inFIG. 9 with the lid fastening means 102 in an intermediate state where thestorage bag 1 is partially open. The lid fastening means 102 is partially open and a part of thelid 110 has been opened forwards, away from the surroundingtop panel 100 c and towards thefront panel 100 a. - The
lid 110 includes aninternal compartment 300 for housing awhiteboard 310. Thelid 110 may be formed of two layers, aback layer 110 b and acover 110 a. A first surface of theback layer 110 b may form an interior surface of themain compartment 100. A second surface of theback layer 110 b (opposite the first surface) may form an interior surface of theinternal compartment 300. Similarly a first cover surface of thecover 110 a may form an interior surface of theinternal compartment 300 while a second cover surface of thecover 110 a (opposite the first cover surface) may form an exterior surface of thestorage bag 1. - When the
internal compartment 300 is closed, thecover 110 a may be substantially parallel to theback layer 110 b. Theselayers primary cover fastener 302 along one or more further edges to define alid opening 301. In this example, the common edge is a basal edge of thecover 110 a andback layer 110 b and theprimary cover fastener 302 is a zip. Thelid 110 may further comprise asecondary cover fastener 302′ also capable of selectively securing thecover 110 a to theback layer 110 b. Thesecondary cover fastener 302′ may be faster and/or easier to actuate than theprimary cover fastener 302. In this example, the secondary cover fastener is a hook and loop closure system. Both theprimary cover fastener 302 and thesecondary cover fastener 302′ may be actuated by a user without accessing the main compartment 100 (i.e., independently from the lid fastener 102). Thecover 110 a may be made of a flexible material. This may allow thecover 110 a to fold forwards towards thefront panel 100 a when thelid opening 301 is open (i.e., in this example, when both theprimary cover fastener 302 and thesecondary cover fastener 302′ are open). - The
cover 110 a may have an at least partially transparent section (not shown) for viewing thewhiteboard 310 in theinternal compartment 300 when either or both of thecover fasteners - The
whiteboard 310 may have illustrations depicted thereon. For example, thewhiteboard 310 may have lines and shapes illustrative of pitch markings. In some embodiments, thewhiteboard 310 is permanently fixed to theback layer 110 b e.g., by way of an adhesive. In other embodiments such as in the example shown inFIG. 9 , thewhiteboard 310 is releasably fixed to theback layer 110 b such that thewhiteboard 310 is reversible. Theback layer 110 b may include a retaining means configured to releasably secure thewhiteboard 310 to theback layer 110 b, such as one or more elasticated holding straps 311. For example thewhiteboard 310 may be rectangular and theback layer 110 b may comprise four holdingstraps 311, one to releasably secure each corner of thewhiteboard 310. In the example, shown inFIG. 9 , theback layer 110 b comprises two holdingstraps 311, each configured to releasably secure one of two basal corners of thewhiteboard 310. - The
lid 110 is configured to house the entirety of thewhiteboard 310 in theinternal compartment 300 when either or both of the primary and secondary cover fastening means 302, 302′ are closed. Thewhiteboard 310 may take any suitable shape such as a rectangle, square or circle. - As described previously in relation to
FIG. 9 , thestorage bag 1 may be adapted to attach to a support structure. The support structure is shown throughout the Figures astrolley 400. Thetrolley 400 may comprise aback frame 410 formed of two substantially parallel side bars each connected at one end to atop bar 470 such that theback frame 410 is substantially U-shaped. When thelid fastener 102 is closed, theback layer 110 b may be substantially coplanar with the surroundingtop panel 100 c of themain compartment 100. In use, when thelid fastener 102 is closed, thetop bar 470 may have a greater vertical height than a vertical height of theback layer 110 b. In use, when thelid fastener 102 is in an intermediate state (at least partially open) theback layer 110 b is operable to pivot forwards towards thefront panel 100 a thereby inclining theback layer 110 b andwhiteboard 310 with respect to a horizontal. This may allow users to better view thewhiteboard 310 and/or allow thewhiteboard 310 to be visible to a greater number of users at any one time. Thelid 110 may further comprise one ormore stabilising fasteners 320 configured to releasably secure theback layer 110 b in an inclined position. The one ormore stabilising fasteners 320 may each be directly coupled to theback layer 110 b and configured to wrap around a part of the support structure such as thetop bar 470. - When the
storage bag 1 is secured to thetrolley 400 via the one ormore support fasteners 140, aback panel 100 b of amain compartment 100 of thestorage bag 1 may be parallel and contact aback frame 410 of thetrolley 400. In this configuration, abottom panel 100 d of themain compartment 100 may be parallel to and contact a first end of abase frame 420 of thetrolley 400. - This disclosure is intended to be read such that any separable features or elements of the disclosed invention, in any of its various aspects, examples and embodiments, should be viewed as intended to be combinable unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
- Throughout this disclosure, references made to vertical height refer to heights measured up, from an imaginary flat horizontal plane on which the
