Abstract
A rod-mounted towel holder device for hanging a towel from a shower rod away from a shower curtain hung from the shower rod includes a hook, a counterweight, and a central shank extending arcuately between the hook and the counterweight. The central shank is configured for straddling a shower rod. The hook curves opposite to the central shank and has a distal end relative to the central shank configured for holding a towel. A gravitational force acts on the counterweight to produce a torque around the shower rod, causing the hook to move the towel up and away from a shower curtain hung from the shower rod.

- The disclosure relates to towel hooks and more particularly pertains to a new towel hook for hanging a towel from a shower rod away from a shower curtain hung from the shower rod.
- The prior art relates to towel hooks. Some shower hooks in the prior art are configured for hanging onto a shower rod, with one shower hook having an arcuate handle configured for resting on the shower side of the shower rod and another shower hook integrally holding a shower curtain. However, the prior art does not disclose a shower hook with a counterweight configured for positioning opposite the shower rod from the hook such that it produces a torque causing the hook to move the towel up and away from a shower curtain hung from the shower rod.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a hook, a counterweight, and a central shank extending arcuately between the hook and the counterweight.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a rod-mounted towel holder device according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new towel hook embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the rod-mountedtowel holder device 10 generally comprises acentral shank 12 having afirst end 14 and asecond end 16. Thecentral shank 12 extends along a portion of acircular path 18, defining agap 20 between opposing portions of thecentral shank 12. Thecentral shank 12 is configured for straddling ashower rod 22 such that theshower rod 22 is positioned within thegap 20 and is configured for being rotatable about theshower rod 22 when straddling theshower rod 22. Ahook 24 is coupled to thefirst end 14 of thecentral shank 12. Thehook 24 has aproximal end 26 relative to thecentral shank 12 and adistal end 28 relative to thecentral shank 12. Thehook 24 is U-shaped, thehook 24 curving opposite to thecentral shank 12 such that thehook 24 and thecentral shank 12 cooperatively define a first S-curve 30. Thehook 24 comprises a pair ofouter portions 32 and amiddle portion 34 extending between the pair ofouter portions 32. The pair ofouter portions 32 extend parallel to each other, and themiddle portion 34 is arcuate. Thedistal end 28 of thehook 24 is configured for supporting atowel 36 hung onto thehook 24. - A
counterweight 38 is coupled to thesecond end 16 of thecentral shank 12. Thecounterweight 38 and thehook 24 cooperatively defining anopening 40 to thegap 20 which is configured for receiving theshower rod 22 therethrough. Thecounterweight 38 has anarcuate portion 42 and abulbous portion 44. Thearcuate portion 42 extends between thecentral shank 12 and thebulbous portion 44, thearcuate portion 42 curving opposite to thecentral shank 12 such that thearcuate portion 42 and thecentral shank 12 cooperatively define a second S-curve 46. Thearcuate portion 42 widens from thecentral shank 12 to thebulbous portion 44. Thebulbous portion 44 is spherical. Theopening 40 is smaller than a diameter of thecircular path 18 and is configured for being smaller than a diameter of theshower rod 22. Thecentral shank 12 is resiliently bendable and is configured for elastically bending such that theshower rod 22 is received through theopening 40 into thegap 20, thereby releasably securing theshower rod 22 within thegap 20. Thecentral shank 12 may be constructed of a metal, polymer, or like material. - In use, the
central shank 12 bends to receive theshower rod 22 through theopening 40 and elastically springs back to straddle theshower rod 22 and secure thedevice 10 to theshower rod 22. Atowel 36 is hung on thehook 24. A gravitational force on the counterweight produces a torque which rotates thedevice 10 such that thehook 24 moves thetowel 36 up and away from theshower curtain 48 hung on theshower rod 22. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
