  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention
  • The disclosure relates to bed sheet devices and more particularly pertains to a new bed sheet device for protecting a sleeping mattress from urine.
  • (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The prior art relates to bed sheet devices. The prior art discloses an absorbent bed sheet which includes a powdered chemical absorbent. Additionally, the prior art discloses an absorbent bed sheet that includes an absorbent layer being stitched to the bed sheet. The prior art discloses a fitted bed sheet for a crib having sewn corners. The prior art also discloses a bed sheet which includes a pair of absorbent layers therein. The prior art discloses an absorbent garment that is worn on a bed ridden person.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a sheet has a top layer and a bottom layer, and the sheet is positionable on a sleeping mattress. An absorbent layer is positioned between the top layer and the bottom layer. The absorbent layer is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to absorb urine from a person who inadvertently wets the bed. A fluid barrier is positioned between the top layer and the bottom layer of the sheet. The fluid barrier is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit urine from passing through the sheet.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective in-use view of a fluid absorbing bed sheet assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a cross section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 3 thereof, a new bed sheet device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 3 , the fluid absorbing bed sheet assembly generally comprises a sheet 12 that has a top layer 14 and a bottom layer 16. The sheet 12 is positionable on a sleeping mattress 15 of any conventional design, including king, queen, twin and full. Each of the top layer 14 and the bottom layer 16 is comprised of a textile material such that each of the top layer 14 and the bottom layer 16 are fluid permeable. The textile material may comprise a cotton fiber or other type of fabric that can wick moisture and can pass air therethrough. Additionally, the sheet 12 may be manufactured with dimensions that correspond to the size of mattress 15 on which the sheet 12 is positioned.
  • An absorbent layer 18 is provided and the absorbent layer 18 is positioned between the top layer 14 and the bottom layer 16. The absorbent layer 18 is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to absorb urine from a person who inadvertently wets the bed. The absorbent layer 18 may comprise a hydrophilic gel or other material that can absorb many times its volume in fluid. A chemical deodorant 20 is infused into the absorbent layer 18 and the chemical deodorant 20 is activated when the chemical deodorant 20 is exposed to urine. Thus, the chemical deodorant 20 emits a scent when the chemical deodorant 20 is exposed to urine. In this way the chemical deodorant 20 conceals the odor of urine.
  • A fluid barrier 22 is provided and the fluid barrier 22 is positioned between the top layer 14 and the bottom layer 16 of the sheet 12. The fluid barrier 22 is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit urine from passing through the sheet 12. Additionally, the fluid barrier 22 is positioned between the absorbent layer 18 and the bottom layer 16. The fluid barrier 22 may comprise a sheet of polyvinyl chloride or other similar, deformable material.
  • In use, the sheet 12 is placed on the sleeping mattress 15 when a user that is prone to wetting the bed will be sleeping on the mattress 15. In this way the absorbent layer 18 absorbs the urine from the user while the user is sleeping, thereby facilitating the user's clothes to stay dry. Additionally, the fluid barrier 22 inhibits the urine from possibly passing through the sheet 12 onto the sleeping mattress 15. The chemical deodorant 20 is actuated when the urine contacts the chemical deodorant 20 for concealing the odor of urine.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
