The main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved holder or package for belt lacing hooks in which the hooks are effectively supported in spaced series so that they may be effectively positioned in a belt lacing machine and at the same time may be handled without dangerof their being displaced and without liability of injury to the person handling the same.
Second, to provide a holder or package of this character in which the holder may be readily stripped from the hooks after they have been inserted in the machine.

In the embodiment of my invention illustrated by Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, of the drawings I in general is a card or package for a series of spaced triangular belt lacer hooks 2 having diverging 50 arms 3 terminating in inturned prongs 4. The hooks are arranged in spaced parallel relation in a manner well-known to those skilled in the art. The card or package comprises a channel 5 preferably formed of a relatively stiff paper blank 6 55 advantageously cut in the fiat.
The channel has an imperforate web I and right side walls 8 provided with inwardly inclined flanges or portions 9 and inturned flaps Ill and H in a plane substantially parallel to the web. The outer flap H is of sufficient width to consti- 5 tute a closure member and is preferably extended to provide a finger piece l2. The side flanges 9 are arranged in overlapping relation to the arms of the hooks as shown, the web 'i being likewise arranged in external overlapping relation to the 10 prongs of the hooks. The flap i8 is provided with key-hole openings or slits ll having flanges [8 at thev inner ends thereof, these slits extending to the edge of the flap I0 so that the flap may be engaged with the arms of the fasteners by pressing or forcing the fiap inwardly. The side walls 8 of the channel have slots l9 receiving the lateral angular portions formed by the arms and the prongs of the hooks, these slots ending in enlargements 2! receiving the prongs and 20 elongated enlargements receiving the arms of the hooks. The outer flap has slots l3 therein terminating in enlargements l5, these slots being adapted to receive the bight portions of the hooks.
With the parts arranged in the foregoing manner, I provide a very serviceable and substantial belt hook card or package. The holder and the metallic hooks coact to provide a comparatively strong holder, and, further, the paper channel may be readily stripped or separated from the hooks when the latter are centrally engaged by the pin 23 of the lacing apparatus '24, see Fig. 3.
Before inserting the card or package of hooks between the jaws 25 of the apparatus, the flap i2 is preferably stripped from the bight portions I l of the hooks by grasping and pulling the finger tab l2. The card or package is then inserted in the lacing apparatus with the angular projections 14 engaged by the pin 23. With the hooks thus held, the paper holder is easily stripped from the hooks. This is an important and valuable feature of my invention.
In the modification of my invention illustrated by Figs. 5 to 9, inclusive, of the drawings a relatively stifi paper blank 28 is out and folded to provide a channel 21 having side walls 28 pro-- vided with inwardly inclined outer portions 29 and inturned flaps 30. The flaps and outer portions or flanges of the side walls are bound with 50 reinforcing strips 3|, the strips overlapping the flanges and outer portions of the side walls and being cemented thereto with any suitable adhesive.
The flaps have openings 32 engaging the arms 56 3 of the hooks 2, the openings being connected to the edges of the flaps by slits 33. Otherwise, the modification is substantially as that shown and described above in connection with Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive. The external overlapping relation of the reinforced outer side wall portions 29 with the arms of the hooks greatly increases the rigidity of the card or package of the modification without interfering with the operation of stripping the holder from the hooks in the lacing apparatus.
My improved belt hook card or package is simple and economical to manufacture and very efiicient and effective for the purpose intended. The hooks and holder are easy to assemble and when assembled provide a strong and serviceable package. The package may be cut in suitable lengths depending upon the width of the belt, and when engaged in the lacing apparatus the holder may be quickly and easily stripped from the books.
I have illustrated and described my improvements in embodiments which'I have found very practical. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other embodiments or adaptations as it is believed this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A card or package comprising a series of uniformly spaced belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminated in inturned prongs, a holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having an imperforate web portion and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges terminating in inwardly directed flaps, the side walls being provided with spaced slots receiving the angular end portions of the arms with the said flanges overlapping the arms, one of said flaps having slots opening at the edge of the flap, the other flap being extended to provide a closure and a projecting fingerpiece and having slots therein receiving the bight portions of the hooks, there being enlargements at the ends of the slots in said flaps and side walls, the width of the slots between the enlargements being less than the cross sectional diameter of the fasteners.
2. A card or package comprising a series of uniformly spaced belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminated in inturned prongs, a holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having an imperforate web portion and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges terminating in inwardly directed flaps, the side walls being provided with spaced slots receiving the angular end portions of the arms with the said flanges overlapping the arms,
one of said flaps having slots opening at the edge of the flap, the other flap being extended to provide a closure and a projecting flngerpiece and having slots therein receiving the bight portions of the hooks.
3. A card or package comprising a series of uniformly spaced belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminated in inturned prongs, a holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having an imperforate web portion and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges terminating in inwardly directed flaps, the side walls being provided with spaced slots receiving the angular end portions of the arms with the said flanges overlapping the arms, one
of said flaps having slots opening at the edge of the flap, the other flap being extended to provide a closure and having slots therein receiving the bight portions of the hooks, there being enlargements at the ends of the slots in said flaps and side walls, the width of the slots between the enlargements being less than the cross sectional diameter of the fasteners.
4. A card or package comprising a series of uniformly spaced belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminated in inturned prongs, a holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having an imperforate web portion and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges terminating in inwardly directed flaps, the side walls being provided with spaced slots receiving the angular end portions of the arms with the said flanges overlapping the arms, one of said flaps having slots opening at the edge of the flap, the other flap being extended to provide a closure and having slots therein receiving the bight portions of the hooks. 5. A card or package comprising a series of uniformly spaced belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminated in inturned prongs, a holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having an imperforate web portion and right side walls providedwith inwardly inclined flanges terminating in inwardly directed flaps, the side walls being provided with spaced slots receiving the angular end portions of the arms with the said flanges overlapping the arms, said flaps having slots receiving parts of the carded fastenings.
6. A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of slots in the side walls thereof adapted to receive the angular portions of fasteners having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the slots having enlargements at the ends thereof, the side walls having inturned flanges adapted to lie on the outer sides of the arms of the fasteners so arranged and terminating in inturned flaps having slots alined with the slots in the side walls, the slots of the inner flap opening at the inner edge thereof, the slots of the outer flap being adapted to receive the bight portions of the fasteners and being extended to provide a fingerpiece.
7. A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of slots in the'side walls thereof adapted to receive the angular portions of fasteners having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the slots having enlargements at the ends thereof, the side wallshaving inturned flanges adapted to lie on the outer sides of the arms of the fasteners slots alined with the slots in the side walls, one
of said flaps constituting a closure so that the prongs of the fasteners are completely guarded. 9. A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of slots in the side walls thereof adapted to receive the angular portions of fasteners having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the side walls having inturned flanges to lie on the outer sides of the arms of the fasteners so arranged and terminating in inturned flaps havingsl'ots alined with the slots in the side walls.
10. A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous ma terial of channel cross section having a series 'of fastener receiving slots in its side walls with enlargeme'nts at the ends thereof, the sidewalls having inturned flange portions adapted to lie upon the outside of the arms of the fasteners engaged in said slots, said flange portions terminating in inturned flaps having key-hole slots opening to their edges and adapted to receive the arms of the fasteners, said flanges and flaps having a reinforcing flexible fibrous binding strip folded over the outer edge thereof and glued thereto, the binding strip having slots alined with the slots of the flaps.

A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of fastener receiving slots in its side walls with enlargements at the ends thereof, the side walls having inturned flange portions adapted to lie upon the outside of the arms of the fasteners engaged in said slots, said flange portions terminating in inturned flaps having keyhole slots opening to their edges and adapted to receive the arms of the fasteners.

A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of fastener receiving slots in its side walls, the side walls having inturned flange portions adapted to lie upon the outside of the arms of the fasteners engaged in said slots, said flange portions terminating in inturned flaps having slots adapted to receive the arms of the fasteners, said flanges and flaps having a reinforcing flexible flbrousbinding strip folded over the outer edge thereof and glued thereto, the binding strip having slots alined with the slots of the flaps.

A belt lacing holder of flexible fibrous material of channel cross section having a series of fastener receiving slots in its side walls, the side walls having inturned flange portions adapted to lie upon the outside of the arms of the fasteners engaged in said slots, said flange portions terminating in inturned flaps having slots adapted to receive the arms of the fasteners.

A card or package for a series of spaced triangular belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a relatively stiff paper channel having an imperforate web and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined outer portions and inturned flanges in a plane parallel to the ,web, binding means overlapping the flanges and outer portions of said side walls, said outer side wall portions being arranged in external overlapping relation with the arms of the hooks and said web portion being arranged in external overlapping relation with the prongs of the hooks, the flaps having openings engaging the arms and connected to the edges of flaps by slits, the side walls having slits for the passage of the angular projections formed by the arms and prongs of the hooks.

A card or package for a series of spaced triangular belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a channel having side walls provided with inwardly inclined outer portions and inturned flaps in a plane parallel to the web, said outer side wall portions being arranged in external overlapping relation with the arms of the hooks and "said web being arranged in external overlapping rela'ticn with the prongs of the hooks, the flaps engaging the arms of the hooks and the side walls engaging the prongs and arms of the hooks. 5.

A card or package for hooks having arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a channel having side walls provided with inwardly inclined outer portions and: inturned flaps, said outer side wall portions being arranged in external overlapping relation with the arms of the hooks and said web being arranged in external overlapping relation with the: prongs of the hooks, the flaps engaging the arms; of the hooks and the side walls engaging the prongs and arms of the hooks.

A card or package comprising a relatively stiff paper channel having side walls provided. with inwardly inclined outer portions and inturned flaps in a plane parallel to the web, paper 200 binding means overlapping the flaps and outer portions of said side walls, the flaps having openings connected to the edges of flaps by slits, and the side walls having slits ending in enlarge-- ments.

A card or package comprising a relatively stiff paper channel having side walls provided with inwardly inclined outer portions and inturned flaps in a plane parallel to the web, the flaps having openings connected to the edges 30 of flaps by slits, and the side walls having slits ending in enlargements.

A card or pack-age for a series of spaced triangular belt lacer hooks having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or pack- 35 age comprising a relatively stifi paper channel having an imperforate web and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges and inturned flaps, said flaps having openings engaging the arms of the hooks, the side walls of the 40 channel having slits for the passage of the lateral angular portions of the hooks, said slits ending in enlargements receiving the prongs and arms of the hooks, the inwardly inclined portions of the side walls externally overlapping the arms of the hooks, and the web of the channel externally overlapping the prongs of the hooks, the arrangement being such that the channel may be readily separated from the hooks when the latter are centrally engaged by a lacing apparatus.

A card or package for belt lacer hooks having arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a channel having an imperforate web and right side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges and inturned flaps, said flaps engaging the arms of the hooks, the side walls of the channel having slits for the passage of the lateral angular portions of the hooks, said slits ending in enlargements receiving the prongs and arms of the hooks, the inwardly inclined portions of the side walls externally overlapping the arms of the hooks, and the web of the channel externally overlapping the prongs of the hooks, the arrangement being such that the channel may be readily separated from the hooks 65 when the latter are centrally engaged by a lacing apparatus.

A card or package for a series of spaced hooks having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a 70 relatively stiff fiber channel having side walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges and inwardly directed flaps, said flaps having openings receiving the arms of the hooks, the side walls of the channel having slits for the passage of the 5 lateral angular projections of the hooks, said slits ending in enlargements receiving the prongs and arms of the hooks, the inwardly inclined flanges of the side walls externally overlapping the arms of the hooks, and the web of the channel externally overlapping the prongs of the hooks.
22. A card or package for a series of spaced hooks having diverging arms terminating in inturned prongs, the card or package comprising a relatively stiff fiber channel having side Walls provided with inwardly inclined flanges and inwardly directed flaps, said flaps receiving the arms of the hooks, the side walls of the channel having slits for the passage of the lateral angular projections of the hooks, said slits receiving the prongs and arms of the hooks, the inwardly inclined flanges of the side Walls externally overlapping the arms of the hooks.
