Abstract
A connecting device having a tie having a tie knot situated adjacent a throat and a shell that extends downwardly from the tie knot. The connecting device further has a longitudinal loop coupled to a back side of the tie knot and a circular slap neck band inserted through the longitudinal loop, the circular slap neck band extends around a person's neck securing the tie to a shirt worn by the person.
Description
- Typically, ties are attached to a shirt using a conventional wrap around method. That is, the man drapes the tie around his neck. That is, with the collar of the shirt up and the shirt fully buttoned, he places the tie around his/her shoulders, hanging the wider end of the tie on the right side and the narrow end about twelve inches higher on the left. He crosses the wide end over the narrow end holding the two pieces together with his hand. He loops the wide end under the narrow end. He loops the wide end back over again and pulls the wide end up through the neck loop. He inserts the wide end down through the front knot and tightens the knot.
- Men may also attach a clip-on tie. The clip-on bow or clip-on tie is permanently tied. The clip-on tie is worn by attaching the tie to the front of a shirt collar by a clip. Sometime, for example with bow ties, there may be a strip of material that reaches around the neck and is attached via a fastener, e.g., a hook and eye.

FIG. 1 is an exemplary tie connected to an open slap neck band in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is the exemplary tie connected to the slap neck band, and the snap neck band is in a closed position. -
FIG. 3 is the slap neck band detached from the tie. - The present disclosure describes a way in which a necktie may be coupled to a man's neck. In one embodiment, the tie is a clip-on tie without the clip. Instead, there is a longitudinal loop on the back of the tie knot. Through the loop, one may insert a slap neck band.
- In one embodiment, the slap neck band is made of bistable spring steel (usually stainless), that allows for both curling and straightening out. In this regard, when the slap neck band is straightened out, then let go, the slap neck band snaps back into a curled state. When the slap neck band is straightened out, the slap neck band is rectangular. In another embodiment, the slap neck band may be sealed within a fabric, silicone, or plastic cover.

FIG. 1 is anexemplary tie 100 connected to an open slap neck band in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. Thetie 100 comprises aknot 104 that rests at the throat of the person wearing the tie. - Further, the
tie 100 comprises ashell 101. Theshell 101 drapes downward over the person's shirt. Theshell 101 is coupled to theknot 104. - On the back of the
knot 104 is alongitudinal loop 103. Thelongitudinal loop 103 is stitched or otherwise coupled to the back of theknot 104 via a fastener. - A
slap neck band 102 is coupled to thelongitudinal slot 103 by inserting anend slap neck band 102 is shown in an open positioned. Theslap neck band 102 is wrapped around the person's neck who is wearing thetie 100. -
FIG. 2 is theexemplary tie 100 connected to theslap neck band 102 that is in a closed position. That isend 105 of theslap neck band 102 meets and lays under theend 106 of theslap neck band 102. - When the
slap neck band 102 is in the closed position, theslap neck band 102 fits around a neck of a shirt (not shown). The collar (not shown) folds down over theslap neck band 102, thus hiding theslap neck band 102. Theslap neck band 102 secures thetie 100 to the shirt (not shown). -
FIG. 3 is the exemplaryslap neck band 102. Notable, it is shown in a curled up position. As described herein, it can be stretched out to form a straight line or a circle, like is shown with reference toFIG. 1 andFIG. 2 .
