Description
- The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/343,681, which was filed on May 19, 2022, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of indoor smoke-eliminating devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a smoking hood device comprised of a hood having at least one fan, at least one light, at least one vent pipe, and at least one window block. The hood can be mounted to a ceiling or other location such that a user can smoke under the hood while the fan is on. As a result, the fan draws smoke from under the hood into the vent pipe, which carries the smoke out of the building through the window block which can be secured within a window. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
- Smoking cigarettes, cigars, and other compounds often produce a smell. Even individuals who smoke may dislike the smell of lingering smoke. Further, cigarette smoke can be unpleasant and can damage furniture and walls. In addition, cigarette smoke can irritate the lungs and cause cancer.
- Despite these drawbacks, many individuals desire to smoke indoors in their homes. To overcome the drawbacks of smoking inside, many individuals will open windows of the home while smoking inside the home. However, opening windows may not be possible in the winter months. Individuals may then purchase multiple odor elimination sprays or an air purifier to combat the smell of smoke inside, a Although both solutions are costly and not entirely effective.
- Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a device that allows a user to smoke indoors. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoking hood device that can be easily used within a residential setting. In addition, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoking hood device that eliminates any smoke released near the device. Further, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoke hood device that prevents smoke from damaging the interior of a home, while also safely disposing of the smoke in a desired area.
- The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a smoking hood device. The device is comprised of a hood having at least one fan, at least one light, at least one vent pipe, and at least one window block. The hood can be mounted to a ceiling or other location such that a user can smoke under the hood while the fan is on. As a result, the fan draws smoke from under the hood into the vent pipe, which carries the smoke out of the building through the window block which can be secured within a window. The fan may be controlled via a remote and has a plurality of fan speeds. The device may also be comprised of a light that illuminates the area around the device.
- In this manner, the smoking hood device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides a device that allows a user to smoke indoors in a residential setting. In addition, the device eliminates any smoke released near the device such that it prevents smoke from damaging the interior of a home. After doing so, the device safely disposes of the smoke into the outdoors.
- The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
- The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a smoking hood device primarily comprised of a hood having at least one fan, at least one light, at least one vent pipe, and at least one window block. The hood is preferably funnel-like in shape with a top opening and a bottom opening larger than the top opening such that the hood captures any smoke below the opening and funnels the smoke within the hood to the top opening.
- The hood may be manufactured from a plurality of materials. In one embodiment, the hood is made from a non-permeable fabric supported by at least one interior frame member. The hood may also be comprised of a rigid material. In addition, the hood may be comprised of at least one mounting bracket that allows the hood to be mounted to a ceiling or other surface. The hood may also be comprised of at least one light to illuminate the device and/or the area around the device. The light may be positioned on any location of the hood.
- At least one fan is positioned and secured within the top opening via at least one air-tight seal. When powered on, the fan pulls any smoke collected within the hood and generally below the bottom opening. In this manner, a user can position the hood above the location they desire to smoke indoors to eliminate the smoke. Smoke drawn through the fan is then transferred to at least one vent pipe connected to the fan. The pipe is also connected to at least one window block that can be placed in a window such that smoke collected by the device can be expelled by at least one opening of the block to the outside area.
- The light and fan are both powered by at least one battery. The battery may be recharged by a USB port of any type known in the art. The battery may also be charged by at least one solar panel positioned on the exterior surface of the window block. The fan and light may be operated by at least one button or by at least one remote. The remote is in wireless electrical communication with at least one processor that controls the fan and the light.
- Accordingly, the smoking hood device of the present invention is particularly advantageous as it allows a user to smoke indoors in a residential setting by eliminating any smoke released near the device. Therefore, the device prevents smoke from damaging the interior of a home. After doing so, the device safely disposes of the smoke into the outdoors. In this manner, the smoking hood device overcomes the limitations of existing methods and practices of smoking indoors known in the art.
- To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the disclosed innovation are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. These aspects are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles disclosed herein can be employed and are intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents. Other advantages and novel features will become apparent from the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the drawings.

In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
- As noted above, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a device that allows a user to smoke indoors. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoking hood device that can be easily used within a residential setting. In addition, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoking hood device that eliminates any smoke released near the device. Further, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a smoke hood device that prevents smoke from damaging the interior of a home, while also safely disposing of the smoke in a desired area.
- The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is comprised of a smoking hood device. The device is primarily comprised of a hood having at least one fan, at least one light, at least one vent pipe, and at least one window block. The hood is preferably funnel-like in shape with a top opening and a bottom opening larger than the top opening. The shape of the hood allows the hood to capture any smoke below the opening and funnels the smoke within the hood to the top opening.

- The light and fan are both powered by at least one battery that may be recharged by a USB port of any type known in the art. The battery may also be charged by at least one solar panel positioned on the exterior surface of the window block. The fan and light may be operated by at least one button or by at least one remote. The remote is in wireless electrical communication with at least one processor that controls the fan and the light.
- Accordingly, the smoking hood device of the present invention is particularly advantageous as it allows a user to smoke indoors in a residential setting by eliminating any smoke released near the device. Therefore, the device prevents smoke from damaging the interior of a home. After doing so, the device safely disposes of the smoke into the outdoors. In this manner, the smoking hood device overcomes the limitations of existing methods and practices of smoking indoors known in the art.
- Referring initially to the drawings,
FIG. 1 illustrates a side view of one potential embodiment of asmoking hood device 100 of the present invention while installed within a residential room in accordance with the disclosed architecture. Thedevice 100 is primarily comprised of ahood 110 having at least onefan 130, at least one light 134, at least onevent pipe 150, and at least onewindow block 180. Thehood 110 may be any shape known in the art. However, thehood 110 is preferably funnel-like in shape with atop opening 120 and abottom opening 140 larger than thetop opening 120. In this manner, the funnel-like shape of thehood 110 captures any smoke below theopening 140 and funnels the smoke within thehood 110 to thetop opening 120. - The
hood 110 may be manufactured from a plurality of materials. In one embodiment, thehood 110 is made from a non-permeable fabric (to prevent smoke from seeping through the hood 110) supported by at least oneinterior frame member 142. In this embodiment, thehood 110 is collapsible when not in use. Theinterior frame member 142 may be made from any plastic, wood, metal, etc., material known in the art. In other embodiments, thehood 110 may be collapsible or non-collapsible and thehood 110 itself may be made from a wood, metal, rigid plastic material, or other rigid material of the like. - The
hood 110 may be comprised of at least one mountingbracket 170 that allows thehood 110 to be mounted to aceiling 10 or another surface. Thebracket 170 can be secured to theceiling 110 via at least onefastener 172. Thefastener 172 may be any fastener type known in the art such as, but not limited to, a screw, a nail, a bolt, a magnet, etc. -
FIG. 2 illustrates an enhanced side view of afan 130 of one potential embodiment of a smoking hood device of the present invention while installed within a residential room in accordance with the disclosed architecture. At least onefan 130 is positioned and secured within thetop opening 120 via at least one air-tight seal 122. When powered on, thefan 130 pulls any smoke collected within thehood 110 and generally below thebottom opening 140. Thefan 130 may have a plurality of speeds such as, but not limited to, low, medium, and high speed. In this manner, a user can position thehood 110 above the location they desire to smoke indoors to eliminate the smoke. - Smoke drawn through the
fan 130 is then transferred to at least onevent pipe 150 connected to thefan 130. Thepipe 150 may be made from any rigid, flexible, and/or collapsible pipe, duct, or other similar material known in the art. Thepipe 150 is also connected to at least onewindow block 180. Thewindow block 180 can be placed in awindow 12 such that smoke collected by thedevice 100 can be expelled by at least oneopening 184 of theblock 180 to the outside area. In one embodiment, theblock 180 is of a fixed length, width, and/or height. In another embodiment, theblock 180 is adjustable/telescopic in length, width, and/or height such that it can universally fit in anywindow 12. Theblock 180 may be comprised of at least onefastener 182 that further secures theblock 180 to and around awindow 12. Thefastener 182 includes, but is not limited to, a screw, a bolt, an adhesive, a magnet, a flange, a bracket, etc. - The
hood 110 may also be comprised of at least one light 134 to illuminate thedevice 100 and/or the area around thedevice 100. The light 134 is preferably an LED light. The light 134 may be of any color known in the art. The light 134 may also have a plurality of brightness levels such as low, medium, high, etc. The light 134 may be positioned on any location of thehood 110. - The light 134 and
fan 130 are both powered by at least onebattery 132. Thebattery 132 may be adisposable battery 132 or arechargeable battery 132 in the form of an alkaline, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride battery 132, etc., such as any 3V-12volts DC battery 132 or otherconventional battery 132 such as A, AA, AAA, etc., that supplies power to thedevice 100. Throughout this specification, the terms “battery” and “batteries” may be used interchangeably to refer to one or more wet or dry cells orbatteries 132 of cells in which chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of DC power. References to recharging or replacingbatteries 132 may refer to recharging or replacing individual cells,individual batteries 132 of cells, or a package of multiple battery cells as is appropriate for any givenbattery 132 technology that may be used. - Additionally, the
battery 132 may be recharged by aUSB port 133 of any type known in the art. Thebattery 132 may also be charged by at least onesolar panel 160 positioned on theexterior surface 186 of thewindow block 180. Thesolar panel 160 may be any type known in the art such as, but not limited to, monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, or a photovoltaic cell film. -
FIG. 3 illustrates a top view of a remote 200 of one potential embodiment of asmoking hood device 100 of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. In one embodiment, thefan 130 and/orlight 134 and all respective functions of thefan 130 and/or light 134 may be operated by at least onebutton 136. In another embodiment, thedevice 100 is comprised of at least oneprocessor 190 in electrical communication with thefan 130 and the light 134. Theprocessor 190 is comprised of at least onereceiver 192. Thereceiver 192 is in wireless electrical communication with at least onetransmitter 202 of at least one remote 200 via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, etc. The remote 200 has at least onebutton 204. Thebutton 204 may allow the user to activate thefan 130 and/orlight 134. Thebutton 204 may also allow a user to change the speeds and/or brightness levels of thefan 130 and light 134. - Certain terms are used throughout the following description and claims to refer to particular features or components. As one skilled in the art will appreciate, different persons may refer to the same feature or component by different names. This document does not intend to distinguish between components or features that differ in name but not structure or function. As used herein “smoking hood device” and “device” are interchangeable and refer to the
smoking hood device 100 of the present invention. - Notwithstanding the foregoing, the
smoking hood device 100 of the present invention and its various components can be of any suitable size and configuration as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that they accomplish the above-stated objectives. One of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the size, configuration, and material of thesmoking hood device 100 as shown in the FIGS. are for illustrative purposes only, and that many other sizes and shapes of thesmoking hood device 100 are well within the scope of the present disclosure. Although the dimensions of thesmoking hood device 100 are important design parameters for user convenience, thesmoking hood device 100 may be of any size, shape and/or configuration that ensures optimal performance during use and/or that suits the user's needs and/or preferences. - Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present invention. While the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this invention also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the described features. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, and variations as fall within the scope of the claims, together with all equivalents thereof.
- What has been described above includes examples of the claimed subject matter. It is, of course, not possible to describe every conceivable combination of components or methodologies for purposes of describing the claimed subject matter, but one of ordinary skill in the art may recognize that many further combinations and permutations of the claimed subject matter are possible. Accordingly, the claimed subject matter is intended to embrace all such alterations, modifications and variations that fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Furthermore, to the extent that the term “includes” is used in either the detailed description or the claims, such term is intended to be inclusive in a manner similar to the term “comprising” as “comprising” is interpreted when employed as a transitional word in a claim.
Claims (20)
1. A smoking hood device comprising:
a hood;
a fan;
a battery;
a vent pipe attached to the fan; and
a window block.
2. The smoking hood device of claim 1 , wherein the fan is positioned within the hood.
3. The smoking hood device of claim 1 , wherein the vent pipe is attached to the window block.
4. A smoking hood device comprising:
a hood;
a fan positioned within the hood;
a battery;
a vent pipe attached to the fan;
a window block attached to the vent pipe and comprised of an opening; and
a solar panel.
5. The smoking hood device of claim 4 , wherein the hood is collapsible.
6. The smoking hood device of claim 4 , wherein the hood is comprised of a non-permeable fabric material.
7. The smoking hood device of claim 4 , wherein the hood is comprised of an interior frame.
8. A smoking hood device comprising:
a funnel-shaped hood comprised of a top opening and a bottom opening;
a fan positioned within the top opening;
a light;
a processor;
a receiver;
a battery that supplies power to the light and the fan;
a vent pipe connected to the fan;
a window block connected to the vent pipe and comprised of a window block opening;
a solar panel; and
a remote comprised of a transmitter.
9. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the solar panel supplies power to the battery.
10. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the funnel-shaped hood is comprised of a mounting bracket.
11. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein an air-tight seal secures the fan to the top opening.
12. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the fan is comprised of a low speed, a medium speed and a high speed.
13. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the vent pipe is comprised of a flexible material.
14. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the window block is a size adjustable window block.
15. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the window block further comprises a fastener.
16. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the light is comprised of a low brightness level, a medium brightness level and a high brightness level.
17. The smoking hood device of claim 8 further comprising a USB port.
18. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the transmitter of the remote is in wireless electrical communication with the receiver of the processor.
19. The smoking hood device of claim 18 , wherein the processor is in electrical communication with each of the light and the fan.
20. The smoking hood device of claim 8 , wherein the fan and the light are controlled by a button.
