  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new pan device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 7 , the joint compound pan assembly 10 generally comprises a pan 12 that has a concavely arcuate bottom side 14 to facilitate joint compound 16 to be scooped out of the pan 12. The pan 12 has a first end 18, a second end 20 and an outer wall 22 extending between the first end 18 and the second end 20, and the bottom side 14 is associated with the outer wall 22. The outer wall 22 has a top edge 24 defining an opening 26 into the pan 12 and the pan 12 is elongated between the first end 18 and the second end 20. Furthermore, the bottom side 14 is concavely arcuate with respect to the top edge 24, and each of the first end 18 and the second end 20 has an upper edge 28 that is aligned with the top edge 24 of the outer wall 22. The pan 12 may have a length ranging between approximately 14.0 inches and 18.0 inches, a width ranging between approximately 4.0 inches and 6.0 inches and a depth ranging between approximately 4.0 inches and 6.0 inches. Additionally, the pan 12 may be comprised of stainless steel such that joint compound 16 for gypsum board can be contained in the pan 12 without sticking the pan 12.
  • A bolt 30 is coupled to and extends downwardly from the bottom side 14 of the pan 12. The bolt 30 has an outer surface 32 and the outer surface 32 is threaded. Additionally, the bolt 30 is centrally positioned between the first end 18 and the second end 20 of the pan 12 and the bolt 30 is positioned on an apex 34 of the bottom side 14 of the outer wall 22. The bolt 30 may have a length of approximately 0.5 inches and a diameter of approximately 0.375 inches.
  • A handle 36 is provided which has a well 38 extending into the handle 36 and the well 38 insertably receives the bolt 30 for attaching the handle 36 to the bolt 30. The handle 36 has an upper end 40, a lower end 42 and an outside surface 44 extending between the upper end 40 and the lower end 42, and the well 38 extends into the upper end 40. The well 38 has a bounding surface 46 and the bounding surface 46 is threaded. Moreover, the bounding surface 46 threadably engages the outer surface 32 of the bolt 30. The outside surface 44 of the handle 36 is textured to enhance gripping the handle 36. The handle 36 may have a length of approximately 5.0 inches and a diameter of approximately 1.0 inches.
  • A disk 48 is provided and the disk 48 is positioned around the handle 36. The disk 48 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material, including but not being limited to felt or rubber, to enhance comfort for a user. The disk 48 has a bottom surface 50 and a top surface 52, and the disk 48 has a hole 54 extending through the bottom surface 50 and the top surface 52. The hole 54 is centrally positioned on the disk 48. Additionally, the hole 54 insertably receives the handle 36 such that the disk 48 is positioned against the bottom side 14 of the pan 12 when the handle 36 is threaded onto the bolt 30.
  • In use, the handle 36 is extended through the disk 48 and the handle 36 is threaded onto the bolt 30. In this way the handle 36 can be gripped to hold the pan 12 while the user is applying the joint compound 16 to gypsum wall board. Additionally, the textured outside surface 44 of the handle 36 facilitates the user to spin the handle 36 thereby facilitating the entirety of the joint compound 16 to be scooped from the pan 12. Moreover, the curved bottom side 14 of the pan 12 facilitates all of the joint compound 16 to be scooped out of the pan 12 thereby minimizing waste.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
