Abstract
An impact resistance sports glove consisting of a striking mass and a fabric or lecture covering for the redirection of a heavy sports ball. The glove features an exterior region for impacting a ball and for an interior palmer region adapted to receive a palm of the hand of the wearer. Further, the covering used flaps and bands that may incorporate straps, cords, buckles or tie downs to wrap around and secure a hand inside the glove.
Description
- Not Applicable
- Certain regional communities in Mexico and immigrant communities in the United States play an ever-evolving game referred to as “Pelota Mixteca”. It is a team sport similar to volleyball in terms of its gameplay, particularly through the back-and-forth exchange of a ball between two opposing teams. The players use a heavy glove composed of stubbed nails embedded in multiple layers of raw hardened leather to serve and redirect a heavy rubber ball back to the opposing team.
- An impact resistant sports glove featuring a rigid, heavy striking mass with a leather and/or fabric covering is presented. The glove includes a solid, metal striking mass that features different surfaces for impacting a rubber ball, mating with the palm of the hand of the wearer, and fastening a covering. The covering partially wraps around the striking mass and roughly adapts to the shape of the hand of the wearer up to the wrist. Additionally, the covering features a series of cinching components.
- Views of interest of the present inventions are illustrated in the appended drawing and described in detail below.
-
FIG. 1 depicts a front view of the glove showing the palm-side of the covering and strapping features in accordance with embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 depicts a backwards view of the glove showing the wrist sleeve of the covering and a partial view of the striking mass in accordance with embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 depicts an angled view of the front side of the glove in accordance with embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 4 depicts an underside view of the glove showing the striking region of the striking mass and partial view of the covering in accordance with embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 5 depicts a top view of the glove showing the covering and strapping features in accordance with embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to the drawings, there is shown the embodiment of a
sports hand glove 100. Thehand glove 100 is a heavy sports glove that allows the wearer to launch and redirect a heavy rubber projectile. The glove is composed of two sections: a single, matal mass and a leather cover. -
FIG. 1 . shows the front view of the glove, and depicts a large portion of the covering, particularly the surfaces wherein the hand of the wearer rests on and strappingcomponents 104. Thepalm region 102 andthumb region 108 are lined with padding to cushion the hand of the wearer. The lining, in addition to theexterior leather shell 103 and the support sleeve 105 makeup the bulk of the covering. Threadedfasteners - The
palmer region 102 is contoured to generally match the shape of the palm of the hand of the wearer. With the hand secured inside the glove, aleather support strap 107 breaks through the interior padding between the thumb and index finger and serves to cinch the semirigid leather flaps 103 onto the hand of the wearer. - Moving on to
FIG. 2 , theexterior leather shell 103 continues to wrap partially around the underside of thesolid mass 204. Despite themass 203 being roughly ellipsoidal in shape, the exterior leather shell continuously mates with the surface of the mass.Stitches 201 help maintain this curvature. - Still referencing
FIG. 2 , theexterior shell 103 funnels into asemi-rigid sleeve support opening region 208 through which the wearer initially slides their hand through.Straps glove 100. - When the hand of the wearer is fully inserted into the glove, the palm of the hand will rest on the
palm region 102; the thumb rests onregion 108 of the glove. With the hand fully inserted, the semirigid leather flap 103 is pressed on the upper side of the hand of the wearer viacinching straps 104. - Referencing
FIG. 4 , the covering only partially wraps around theheavy mass 404, leaving an exposedstriking surface 402. Groves 403 run laterally along the exposed surface.
