Abstract
The desk with dual desktops includes a first desk member having a first desktop and a number of desk legs beneath the first desktop, and a second desk member joined to a side of the first desk member and having a number of desk legs, a number of support beams on top of the desk legs, and a second desktop above and supported by the support beams. The first desk member and the second desk member can be arranged into an L shape, a T shape, an I shape, or an inverted L shape to suit user's need. By the support beams, the second desktop has an adjustable height that may be selectively configured to be at a different height from that of the first desktop.
Description
- The present invention is generally related to desks, and more particular to a desk with dual desktops where one of them has an adjustable height.
- As shown in
FIG. 8 , a conventional desk has a desktop and some desk legs supporting and raising the desktop to an appropriate height so that various works such as writing, drawing, operating computer, etc., can be conducted on the desktop. - However, the conventional desk usually cannot have its desktop shape and height conveniently adjusted to fit a user's different working conditions and postures.
- To obviate the foregoing shortcomings, the present invention teaches a novel desk having dual desktops, where one of them may be selectively adjusted for different heights.
- The desk having dual desktops includes:
- a first desk member having a first desktop and a number of desk legs beneath the first desktop; and
- a second desk member joined to a side of the first desk member and having a number of desk legs, a number of support beams on top of the desk legs, and a second desktop above and supported by the support beams. By the support beams, the second desktop has an adjustable height that may be selectively configured to be at a different height from that of the first desktop.
- The first desk member and the second desk member can be arranged into an L shape, a T shape, an I shape, or an inverted L shape to suit user's need. The second desktop can be raised to different heights and apparatuses like a notebook computer, a printer, a projector, or a screen, can be placed on the second desktop. A user can switch between a seated position to a standing one from time to time to reduce the risk of chronic health problem resulted from sitting too long.
- A number of positioning notches are provided on a bottom side of the second desktop. Each support beam has a positioning block configured on a top end. By embedding the positioning blocks of the support beams into the appropriate notches of the second desktop, the second desktop may be supported at different heights above the desk legs.
- The foregoing objectives and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
- Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

FIG. 7 is a schematic diagram showing how a desktop is adjusted for different heights. -
FIG. 8 is a perspective diagram showing a conventional desk. - The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
- As shown in
FIG. 1 , a desk with dual desktops includes: - a
first desk member 1 having afirst desktop 11 and a number ofdesk legs 12 beneath thefirst desktop 11; and - a
second desk member 2 joined to a side of thefirst desk member 1 and having a number ofdesk legs 21, a number ofsupport beams 22 on top of thedesk legs 21, and asecond desktop 23 above and supported by thesupport beams 22. By thesupport beams 22, thesecond desktop 23 has an adjustable height that may be selectively configured to be at a different height from that of thefirst desktop 11. - The
second desk member 2 is joined to a side of thefirst desk member 1 so that thesecond desktop 23 and thefirst desktop 11 selectively form a L shape, a T shape, a I shape, or an inverted L shape of equal or different heights to fit the application setting. For example, during a meeting, thesecond desktop 23 and thefirst desktop 11 can form into a T shape or an I shape, and aprojector 4 is placed on thesecond desktop 23 of a greater height. Alternatively, depending on a user's preference, thefirst desk member 1 can be joined to a left or right side of thefirst desk member 1, as shown inFIGS. 4, 5, and 6 . - With the
first desk member 1 and thesecond desk member 2, they can be arranged into an L shape, a T shape, an I shape, or an inverted L shape to suit auser 3's need. Thesecond desktop 23 can be raised to different heights and apparatuses like a notebook computer, a printer, aprojector 4, or ascreen 5, can be placed on thesecond desktop 23, as shown inFIGS. 2 to 4 . Theuser 3 can switch between a seated position to a standing one from time to time to reduce the risk of chronic health problem resulted from sitting too long. - There are a number of
positioning notches 231 on a bottom side of thesecond desktop 23, and eachsupport beam 22 has a top end configured with apositioning block 221. By embedding thepositioning blocks 221 of thesupport beams 22 into theappropriate notches 231 of thesecond desktop 23, thesecond desktop 23 may be supported at different heights above thedesk legs 21. - While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the claims of the present invention.
