  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 8 thereof, a new garments embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 8 , the untucking resistant garment 10 generally comprises a garment body 12 having an inside surface 14, an outside surface 16, and a bottom edge 18 defining a bottom opening 20 configured to extend around a torso of a wearer of the garment body 12. The garment body 12 may be a T-shirt, button down, polo style shirt, tank top, or any other type of shirt or garment which may be tucked in to pants while being worn. An inner band 26 of a tacky material 28 is coupled to the inside surface 14 of the garment body 12. The tacky material 28 may be rubber, silicone, or any other type of tacky or tackified material conventionally known to enhance friction and prevent slippage. The inner band 26 of tacky material 28 is positioned proximate to the bottom opening 20 of the garment body 12 wherein the inner band 26 of tacky material 28 is configured to inhibit the inside surface 14 of the garment body 12 from slipping against an interior layer of material, such as an undergarment, adjacent the inside surface 14. An outer band 32 of the tacky material 28 is coupled to the outside surface 16 of the garment body 12. The outer band 32 of tacky material 28 is positioned proximate to the bottom opening 20 of the garment body 12 wherein the outer band 32 of tacky material 28 is configured to inhibit the outside surface 16 of the garment body 12 from slipping against an exterior layer of material, such as pants or the like, adjacent the outside surface 16.
  • In an embodiment, the outer band 32 of tacky material 28 is a first outer band 32A. A second outer band 32B of tacky material 28 is positioned between the first outer band 32A and the bottom edge 18 of the garment body 12. The first outer band 32A and the second outer band 32B may be parallel to each other or may be consistently spaced from each other in a non-linear shape such as waves, angled straight line sections, or other shapes. The inner band 26 is positioned on the inside surface 14 between the first outer band 32A and the second outer band 32B such that the bands 26, 32A, and 32C are spaced from each other and staggered on the inside surface 14 and outside surface 16.
  • The untucking resistant garment 10 may also comprise a pair of hip bands 38 of the tacky material 28. Each of the hip bands 38 of tacky material 28 is positioned between the first outer band 26 of tacky material and the second outer band 32 of tacky material 28. The hip bands 38 of tacky material 28 are positioned on opposite sides 40 of the garment body 12 wherein each of the hip bands 38 of tacky material 28 is configured to align with a hip of the wearer of the garment body 12.
  • In an embodiment, the garment body 12 has a belt portion 44. The belt portion 44 extends up from the bottom edge 18. The inner band 26 of tacky material 28 and the outer band 32 of tacky material 28 is positioned within the belt portion 44. The belt portion 44 has a flap 48 positionable to overlap the outside surface 16 of the garment body 12 along the belt portion 44. A fastener 50 releasably couples the flap 48 to the garment body 12 such that a size of the bottom opening 20 of the garment body 12 is adjustable. The fastener 50 includes a hook 52 coupled to the flap 48. Each of a plurality of rings 54 is positioned on the outside surface 16 of the garment body 12 on the belt portion 44. The hook 52 is releasably engageable to a selectable one of the rings 54 to adjust the size of the bottom opening 20. There may be one hook 52 or a plurality of aligned hooks with corresponding rings in the same manner as fastening a conventional brassiere. Alternatively, the fastener may incorporate or comprise snaps, hook and loop fastener, or other conventional fasteners for securing a strap under tension in a desired position.
  • In an embodiment, a back band 56 of the tacky material 28 may be positioned between the first outer band 32A of tacky material 28 and the second outer band 32B of tacky material 28. The back band 56 is positioned on a back 58 of the garment body 12 wherein the back band 56 of tacky material 28 is configured to be positioned over a spine of the wearer of the garment body 12.
  • In an embodiment, a medial outer band 32C of the tacky material 28 is positioned between the first outer band 32A of tacky material 28 and the second outer band 32B of tacky material 28.
  • Each of the inner band 26, first outer band 32A, second outer band 32B, and medial outer band 32C may comprise a series of spaced segments 66. Each of the spaced segments 66 of the series of spaced segments 66 may be an alphanumeric character to define a logo, name, trademark word or phrase, or the like.
  • It is specifically considered that each of the above described elements may be combined in various combinations within the scope of the invention such as having both hip bands 38 and a back band 56. Except where mutually exclusive, the above embodiments are combinable within the scope of the invention.
  • In use, the garment 10 is worn with the bottom edge 18 being tucked in generally between an undergarment and pants worn by the wearer. The tacky material 28 serves to resistant slippage of the garment 10 such that the garment resists becoming untucked while being worn. In addition to the resistance to slippage due to the tacky material 28, the bottom opening 20 can be adjusted to provide additional resistance to slippage.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
