Abstract

A click nail system is disclosed. The system is comprised of artificial nails having a barbed portion that engages a barbed anchor which is glued to a user’s existing fingernail. An object of the click nail system is to allow users to remove artificial nails quickly when performing tasks - or replace artificial nails with other types of decorative, artificial nails easily.

Description

  • To existing nail beds using adhesive and cannot be removed without the use of chemical solvents. What is needed is a detachable nail that can be removed when performing delicate or difficult tasks such as when typing or removing contact lenses etc. as well as to have the ability to change nail color and/or design quickly or as frequently as a user desires.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The device herein disclosed and described provides a solution to the shortcomings in the prior art through the disclosure of a detachable, artificial finger nail An object of the detachable artificial nail system is to allow users to attach or detach artificial nails at the user’s discretion. For example, a person is interested in pulling weeds but does not want to ruin decorative, artificial nails. They simply detach (unclick) each nail by pushing down and then prying up on the nail and proceed with weed pulling. When finished, they simply re-attach the artificial nails by pushing them down onto the existing nail until a click is heard.
  • Another object of the nail system is to allow users to swap out a multitude of different artificial nails having various colors, finishes and shapes. For example, a teenager prefers to have a nail color to match an outfit. They simply unclick the artificial nails and install new artificial nails having colors that match the outfit. No hazardous chemicals, monomers, or adhesives are needed for these swaps.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide an audio cue that an artificial nail has been properly installed. The nail system includes a base that engages the artificial nail and when a nail is properly installed or is ready to be pried up for removal, a small click noise can be heard. If the click does not occur then the artificial nail is not secure or ready for removal.
  • It is briefly noted that upon reading this disclosure, those skilled in the are will recognize various means for carrying out these intended features of the invention. As such it is to be understood that other methods, applications and systems adapted to the task may be configured to carry out these features and are therefore considered to be within the scope and intent of the present invention, and are anticipated. With respect to the above description, before explaining at least one preferred embodiment of the herein disclosed invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangement of the components in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention herein described is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways which will be obvious to those skilled in the art. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
  • As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception upon which this disclosure is based may readily be utilized as a basis for designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present disclosed device. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent construction and methodology insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention. As used in the claims to describe the various inventive aspects and embodiments, “comprising” means including, but not limited to, whatever follows the word “comprising”. Thus, use of the term “comprising” indicates that the listed elements are required or mandatory, but that other elements are optional and may or may not be present. by “consisting of” is meant including, and limited to, whatever follows the phrase “consisting of”. Thus, the phrase "consisting of” indicates that the listed elements are required or mandatory, and that no other elements may be present. By "consisting essentially of” is meant including any elements listed after the phrase, and limited to other elements that do not interfere with or contribute to the activity or action specified in the disclosure for the listed elements. Thus, the phrase “consisting essentially of” indicates that the listed elements are required or mandatory, but that other elements are optional and may or may not be present depending upon whether or not they affect the activity or action of the listed elements.
  • The objects features, and advantages of the present invention, as well as the advantages thereof over existing prior art, which will become apparent from the description to follow, are accomplished by the improvements described in this specification and hereinafter described in the following detailed description which fully discloses the invention, but should not be considered as placing limitations thereon.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
  • FIG. 1 showing a perspective view of artificial nails being attached.
  • FIG. 2 showing artificial nail selection and anchor installation.
  • FIG. 3 showing a close-up view of the anchor, click installation and final artificial nail installed.
  • FIG. 4 showing top and front views of the detachable artificial nail system.
  • FIG. 5 showing a representative view of the detachable artificial nail system’s method.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
  • FIG. 1 showing a preferred embodiment of the detachable artificial nail system with artificial nails 1 being detachably-affixed to user 2’s existing fingernail 3 and generating a small ‘click’ sound. FIG. 2 showing user 2 selecting various artificial nail sizes to fit on their existing fingernails 3. Once proper artificial nail 1 being selected user applying an adhesive 5 (such as epoxy etc.) to anchor 4 and positioning it onto existing nail 1 in FIG. 3 . Other embodiments of the invention can include anchor 4 being comprised of a magnet that engages a ferrous material on an artificial nail for securement. Anchor 4 being comprised of a square-shaped, planar node with overhanging barbed portions there atop to engage an artificial nail 1 there under and subsequently making a clicking noise when locked into place. Other embodiments of the invention can have anchor 4 with a plurality of shapes instead of barbs (such as but not limited to dove-tail members, L-shape catchements and the like). Said anchor 4 being made of a polymer compound such as but not limited to acrylic monomer and the like - other embodiments can include a magnetized anchor 4. Still other emodiments of the detachable artificial nail system can have anchors with a multitude of shapes including but not limited to: stars, circles, arrows, lightning bolts, flowers etc. FIG. 4 showing top and front views of the detachable artificial nail system on user 2’s finger. Artificial nail 1 having barbed portions 6 along its longitudinal axis to receive anchor 4 therein. The overhanging barbed portions of the aforementioned anchor 4 engaging similar barbed portions on the artificial nail 1 when pried upwards will release artificial nail 1 from anchor 4 as illustrated in FIG. 4 front view. FIG. 5 showing the method of both installing and removing artificial nails. The following steps are performed when installing an artificial nail: the existing fingernail on a user is cleaned with a solvent and/or surfactant (along with buffing the nail surface for better adhesion); an artificial nail with the appropriate size is selected, an adhesive is applied to the anchor; the anchor is positioned onto the existing nail; the anchor is then aligned onto the existing nail using the artificial nail to ensure proper positioning and then allowed to cure; once the anchor is cured in the proper position die artificial nail is pressed onto the anchor; pressing is performed and waiting until an audible ‘click’ is heard which means the artificial nail is locked onto the anchor. The following steps are performed when removing an artificial nail: the user presses down on the center of the artificial nail to cause edges of the artificial nail to bow outwards and widening the barbed portions; the user then pries up on the artificial nail edges to lift and remove the artificial nail from the anchor; lastly, solvent is applied to the anchor to remove it from the existing nail.
  • It is additionally noted and anticipated that although the device is shown in its most simple form, various components and aspects of the device may be differently shaped or slightly modified when forming the invention herein. As such those skilled in the art will appreciate the descriptions and depictions set forth in this disclosure or merely meant to portray examples of preferred modes within the overall scope and intent of the invention, and are not to be considered limiting in any manner. While all of the fundamental characteristics and features of the invention have been shown and described herein, with reference to particular embodiments thereof, a latitude of modification, various changes and substitutions are intended in the foregoing disclosure and it will be apparent that in some instances, some features of the invention may be employed without a corresponding use of other features without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth.
