- the present application describes and discloses a device useful for exercising that is light-weight, portable, versatile and requires no assembly. Consumers use devices for exercising in pursuit of their personal health and fitness objectives. Some limiting factors that consumers experience with regards to achieving their desired levels of fitness include, but are not limited to, the expense of gym memberships or home gym equipment, inconvenience, limitations of time and priority and a lack of understanding about how to best utilize often complicated exercise and/or physical training equipment. Abstract
A device and method of exercising that is light-weight, portable, versatile and requires no assembly. The device includes a substantially rigid body portion with substantially angled ends, suitable for engagement by hands or feet of a user, or in conjunction with doors, exercise equipment or additional exercise accessories, such as resistance bands, in order to perform numerous efficient and effective exercises.
Description
- This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 63/030,052 filed May 26, 2020 entitled “Personal Training Device” and is hereby incorporated by reference.
- The present application describes and discloses a device useful for exercising that is light-weight, portable, versatile and requires no assembly. Consumers use devices for exercising in pursuit of their personal health and fitness objectives. Some limiting factors that consumers experience with regards to achieving their desired levels of fitness include, but are not limited to, the expense of gym memberships or home gym equipment, inconvenience, limitations of time and priority and a lack of understanding about how to best utilize often complicated exercise and/or physical training equipment. Additionally, most personal fitness equipment is designed to address only one, or very few, muscle group per piece of equipment. Therefore, there exists a need for a cost-effective, efficient, portable, versatile and easy-to-use device for exercising.
- In one aspect, the present invention provides a device for exercise that requires no assembly.
- In another aspect, the present invention provides a device for exercise that is light-weight and portable.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a device for exercise that is versatile.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a device that can be used to obtain a complete exercise routine in any location.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a device that is easy to use.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a device that may be used for multiple exercises.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a device that addresses multiple muscle groups during exercise.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention includes a device that provides a total body workout that is affordable for purchase.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention includes a device that can be used in conjunction with additional pieces of exercise equipment.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention includes a device that can be used in conjunction with a door.
- In yet another aspect, the present invention includes a device that is constructed of more than one material.

FIG. 19B illustrates a side view of the embodiment of the device ofFIG. 19A in accordance with the present invention. - In at least one embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 comprising at least onesingle metal form 12 with substantiallyangled end portions 14 and at least oneslot portion 16, as further described and shown herein. Saiddevice 10 can be engaged directly by a user and used independently from other equipment or objects, to perform a desired exercise (including, but not limited to, those illustrations as shown at least inFIGS. 9-18 , respectively). - In at least one embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 comprising two portable, self-referencing pair of metal forms 12 (as shown, for example, inFIG. 1 ) that may removably engage at least one surface, other objects, exercise equipment (for example, workout benches or heavy workout equipment which may be removably engaged with a device 10) or doorways (for example, as shown inFIGS. 19A and 19B ), giving a user the ability to accomplish many different exercises. Such exercises may include, but are not limited to, pushups, sit ups, lunges, squats, various curls for muscle groups (biceps, triceps, hamstring, Nordic. Etc.). Saiddevice 10 may be used in various forms of exercise including yoga (for example, as a yoga block or for various yoga stretches) and circuit training and any other exercises that are known to individuals, personal trainers and to those of ordinary skill in the physical fitness art. Saiddevice 10 may also be used by an individual under the instruction of a fitness trainer or personal trainer, to perform partial body or full body exercises or complete workouts that maximize fitness results for the individual. - In at least another embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 comprising slots, cutouts and/or holes within saiddevice 10 that may removably engage additional personal training devices and accessories (for example, as shown inFIGS. 17, 18 and 19A , respectively), including but not limited to, resistance bands and/or tubing, suspension trainers (for example, TRX straps), battle rope anchors and barbell landmine, etc., as further described and shown herein. - In at least another embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 comprising at least three grip angles for better wrist and forearm ergonomics while performing exercises. - In at least another embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 that comprises at least one angled surface that is sufficient to engage a heel or toe of a user, thereby holding said user's body in a desired position to efficiently and effectively perform a desired exercise. Saiddevice 10 further comprises the capability to accommodate different foot lengths of users with one solid piece. - In at least another embodiment, the present invention includes a
personal training device 10 that comprises aflexible rubber ramp 18 on at least one of the device surfaces, to service as a door catch (providing additional stability to the device when place beneath a door and/or piece of exercise equipment, for example) as further described and shown herein. - Some materials contemplated for use in the present invention with regards to the
personal training device 10 itself may include, but are not limited to, metal, rubber, plastics, glass, wood (and/or any combination thereof) and/or any manufacturable substantially rigid material (as would be known by ones of ordinary skill in the rigid materials and/or engineering/mechanical arts) that is sufficient to achieve the effectiveness and utility of said invention. -
FIGS. 1 and 2 illustrate adevice 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantially angledend portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIGS. 1 and 2 additionally showslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of saidrigid body portions 12 and saidangled end portions 14.FIGS. 1 and 2 additionally show atread portion 18 that is affixed to the top surface of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14. It is further contemplated in the present invention that adevice 10 could include a tread portion that is manufactured as part of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14. -
FIG. 3 illustrates the front view of adevice 10 according to another embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 3 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of saidrigid body portions 12 and saidangled end portions 14. -
FIG. 4 illustrates the rear view of thedevice 10 according to the embodiment shown inFIG. 3 of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 4 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of saidrigid body portions 12.FIG. 4 additionally shows atread portion 18 that is affixed to the top surface of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14. It is further contemplated in the present invention that adevice 10 could include a tread portion that is manufactured as part of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14. -
FIG. 5 illustrates a bottom view of adevice 10 according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 5 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges of saidangled end portions 14. -
FIG. 6 illustrates the top view of thedevice 10 according to the embodiment shown inFIG. 5 of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 5 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges of saidangled end portions 14.FIG. 6 additionally shows atread portion 18 that is affixed to the top surface of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14. -
FIG. 7 illustrates the side view of thedevice 10 according to the embodiment shown inFIGS. 5 and 6 of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 7 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14. -
FIG. 8 illustrates an expanded, perspective view of at least one embodiment of atread portion 18 of at least one embodiment of a device 10 (not shown) of the present invention. -

FIG. 10 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 10 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 10 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 with a foot removably engaged with said substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14, with a hand removably engaged to said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14, to effectively perform a hamstring stretch. -
FIG. 11 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 10 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 11 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 with the heel of a foot removably engaged with said substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and said substantially perpendicularly angled end portion at theheel 14, while the substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14 is removably engaged with the underside of adoor 22, in order to effectively perform a Nordic curl exercise. -
FIGS. 12 and 13 illustrate adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIGS. 12 and 13 additionally showslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 12 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 in order to effectively perform pushups. -
FIG. 14 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 10 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 11 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 with the toe of a foot removably engaged with said substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and said substantially perpendicularly angled end portion at theheel 14, while the substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14 is removably engaged with the underside of adoor 22, in order to effectively perform sit-ups. -
FIG. 15 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 15 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14 and atread portion 18.FIG. 15 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 in order to effectively perform squats. -
FIG. 16 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 16 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantiallyrigid body portion 12.FIG. 10 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 with a hand removably engaged with said substantially acutelyangled end portion 14 and said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14 removably engaged with the floor, to effectively perform a tricep dip exercise. -
FIG. 17 illustrates adevice 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 17 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of saidrigid body portions 12 and saidangled end portions 14.FIG. 17 additionally shows atread portion 18 that is affixed to the top surface of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portion 14.FIG. 17 additionally shows several embodiments ofexercise accessories 20 that may be removably engaged with saiddevice 10, earlier described herein. -
FIG. 18 illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 18 additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 18 illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 as the substantiallyperpendicularly end portion 14 is removably engaged with the underside of adoor 22 andexercise accessories 20 are removably engaged with saidslot portions 16 of said substantially acutelyangled end portions 14. -
FIG. 19A illustrates adevice 10 being used for exercise according to at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 19A additionally showsslot portions 16 positioned along the edges as shown of said substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and substantially acutelyangled end portion 14.FIG. 19A illustrates an individual using saiddevice 10 to perform a suspension trainer exercise, as the substantiallyperpendicularly end portion 14 is removably engaged with the underside of adoor 22 andexercise accessories 20 are removably engaged with saidslot portions 16 of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portions 14. -
FIG. 19B illustrates the side view of thedevice 10 according to the embodiment shown inFIG. 19A of the present invention. Thedevice 10 generally includes at least one substantiallyrigid body portion 12 and at least two substantiallyangled end portions 14, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.FIG. 19A additionally shows the substantiallyperpendicularly end portion 14 is removably engaged with the underside of thedoor 22 andexercise accessories 20 are removably engaged with slot portions 16 (not shown inFIG. 19B , but illustrated in other Figures of the present invention) of said substantially perpendicularlyangled end portions 14 and theexercise accessories 20 are positioned back over to the top of thedoor 22. - Although the invention has been described in terms of particular embodiments and applications, one of ordinary skill in the art, in light of this teaching, can generate additional and embodiments and modifications without departing from the spirit of or exceeding the scope of the claimed invention. Accordingly, it is to be understood that the drawings and descriptions herein are proffered by way of example to facilitate comprehension of the invention and should not be construed to limit the scope thereof.
Claims (20)
1. A device for exercising comprising at least one substantially rigid body portion further comprising at least two substantially angled end portions, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein said at least one substantially rigid body portion comprises a metal body.
3. The device of claim 2 wherein said at least one substantially rigid body portion comprises one edge of said body portion that is substantially longer the opposing edge of said body portion.
4. The device of claim 1 wherein said device further comprises at least two substantially rigid body portions that comprise a self-referencing pair of rigid body portions.
5. The device of claim 1 wherein said at least one substantially rigid body portion further comprises at least one slot portion located along at least one edge of said body portion for removably engaging an additional piece of exercise equipment.
6. The device of claim 1 wherein said at least one substantially angled end portion further comprises at least one slot portion located along at least one edge of said angled end portion for removably engaging an additional piece of exercise equipment.
7. The device of claim 6 wherein said angled end portion for removably engaging an additional piece of exercise equipment comprises said angled end portion removably engaging a resistance band.
8. The device of claim 6 wherein said angled end portion for removably engaging an additional piece of exercise equipment comprises said angled end portion removably engaging a battle rope anchor.
9. The device of claim 6 wherein said angled end portion for removably engaging an additional piece of exercise equipment comprises said angled end portion removably engaging a suspension trainer strap.
10. The device of claim 1 wherein said at least one end portion substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion further comprises a flexible rubber ramp affixed to the top surface of said substantially perpendicularly angled end portion.
11. The device of claim 1 wherein said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion is positioned to removably engage the underside of a door.
12. A method of using a device for exercise comprising the steps of:
Providing at least one user of said device;
Providing at least one device comprising at least one substantially rigid body portion further comprising at least two substantially angled end portions, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion;
Choosing at least one fitness movement to engage said at least one device;
Selecting a desired amount of repetitions of said at least one fitness movement to achieve desired amount of exercise; and
Completing said desired amount of repetitions of said at least one fitness movement to achieve desired amount of exercise.
13. The method of claim 14 wherein choosing at least one fitness movement to engage said at least one device comprises choosing multiple fitness movements.
14. The method of claim 15 wherein choosing said multiple fitness movements result in a complete body workout for said user.
15. The method of claim 14 further comprising said method of using a device for exercise is directed by a fitness professional.
16. The method of claim 14 further comprising said method of using a device for exercise is directed by a fitness coach.
17. The method of claim 14 further comprising the removably engageable use of at least one exercise accessory with said device.
18. The method of claim 14 further comprising the removably engageable use of at least one door with said device.
19. A device comprising at least one substantially rigid body portion further comprising at least two substantially angled end portions, wherein said at least one end portion is substantially acutely angled in reference to one side of said rigid body portion and said at least said other end portion is substantially perpendicularly angled in reference to the opposite side of said rigid body portion.
20. The device of claim 12 wherein said device is used to facilitate exercise.
