Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates generally to a furniture and more particularly, to a multifunctional sofa that can serve as a chair, a bed, a trampoline, etc.
- Conventional large-sized furniture, such as sofa and bed, provides one single function only. However, the living space of modem life at home is quite limited. If one or more large-sized furniture is placed at home, the living space will become narrower. In such a circumstance, it will be difficult for people to set up additional sports equipment at home, or the existing sports equipment at home may not be properly stored due to the problem that no spare space is available. Therefore, if the functions of a variety of large-sized furniture and even sports equipment can be combined in a unity, the living space at home can be more efficiently utilized so as to preserve more space for home activities.
- The present invention has been accomplished in view of the above-noted circumstances. It is an objective of the present invention to provide a multifunctional sofa, which can serve as a chair for sitting, a bed for lying, and a trampoline for jumping so as to efficiently utilize the home living space.
- To attain the above objective, the present invention provides a multifunctional sofa, which comprises a base seat, a back supporting frame and a cushion pad. The base seat includes a frame, a support cloth located inside the frame, and a plurality of resilient members connected between the frame and the support cloth. The back supporting frame is disposed at a side of the frame of the base seat. The cushion pad is disposed on the base seat.
- When the multifunctional sofa is set at a lifted-up posture, the multifunctional sofa serves as a chair for siting. When the multifunctional sofa is set at a lay-down posture, the multifunctional sofa serves as a bed for lying. If the cushion pad is removed, the multifunctional sofa serves as a trampoline on which the user can practice jumping exercise. Under this circumstance, the resilient members provide the support cloth an upward rebounding force to enable the user to jump on the support cloth up and down. As a result, the multifunctional sofa combines the functions of chair, bed and trampoline, such that the home living space can be effectively utilized so as to preserve more space for home activities.
- The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a multifunctional sofa according to a first embodiment of the present invention, showing that the multifunctional sofa is set at a lifted-up posture; -

For concise illustration of the structure of themultifunctional bed 10, thecushion pad 40 is omitted inFIGS. 2, 4 and 6 . - As shown in
FIG. 2 , thebase seat 20 comprises a rectangularhollow frame 22, arectangular support cloth 24 located inside theframe 22, and a plurality ofresilient members 26 connected between theframe 22 and thesupport cloth 24 in a way that anannular gap 28 is left between theframe 22 and thesupport cloth 24 and theresilient members 26 are located in thegap 28. Thesupport cloth 24 is provided at an outer periphery with fouredge strips 241 for being connected with theresilient members 26. Theframe 22 is provided with throughholes 223 through which theresilient members 26 are inserted, respectively. Specifically, eachresilient member 26 has two ends connected with theedge strip 241 and theframe 22. For theresilient member 26, spring, resilient rope or another resilient component may be used. In this embodiment, theresilient member 26 is realized as an extension spring. The inner edge of theframe 22 is mounted with four wave-shaped retaining strips 221 having wave crests that are welded to the inner edge of theframe 22, such that thethrough hole 223 is formed between each two adjacent wave crests and adapted for being hooked by an end of theresilient member 26. It is to be understood that the structure of thethrough hole 223 is not limited to the one disclosed in this embodiment as lone as an end of theresilient member 26 can pass through the throughhole 223 and connects theframe 22. For example, the retaining strips may be omitted, and in this case theframe 22 is directly provided with a plurality of throughholes 223. In an alternate embodiment, thethrough holes 223 are omitted, and in this case an end of theresilient member 26 is directly fixed to theframe 22 by welding for example. - The
back supporting frame 30 is pivotally connected with a side of thebase seat 20, such that theback supporting frame 30 is swingable relative to thebase seat 20 between a lifted-up posture P1 as shown inFIGS. 1 and 2 and a lay-down posture P2 as shown inFIGS. 3 and 4 . The twosupport posts 50 are pivotally connected with theback supporting frame 30, such that thesupport posts 50 are swingable relative to the back supportingframe 30. When theback supporting frame 30 is swung from the lifted-up posture P1 to the lay-down posture P2 as shown inFIGS. 3 and 4 , thesupport posts 50 can be swung and extended relative to theback supporting frame 30 in a way that the bottom ends of thesupport posts 50 stand on the ground. When theback supporting frame 30 is set at the lifted-up posture P1, the two support posts 500 can be swung and retracted relative to the back supportingframe 30 in a way that thesupport posts 50 are abutted against theback supporting frame 30. In another feasible embodiment, the twosupport posts 50 may be fixedly mounted to theback supporting frame 30. Further, one ormore support posts 50 may be used in the present invention. It is to be mentioned that the lifted-up posture P1 used in the present invention means that theback supporting frame 30 is swung from the lay-down posture P2, i.e., horizontal position, to an inclined position at any included angle relative to thebase seat 20, not limited to the one disclosed inFIGS. 1 and 2 . - The
cushion pad 40 can be directly placed on thebase seat 20 and theback supporting frame 30, or be detachably mounted to thebase seat 20 and theback supporting frame 30 by a detachable fastener, such as a loop-and-hook fastener. - When the
multifunctional sofa 10 is set at the lifted-up posture P1, themultifunctional sofa 10 can serve as a chair for user's siting. Further, if thecushion pad 40 is removed as shown inFIGS. 2 and 4 , themultifunctional sofa 10 can serve as a trampoline, such that the user can practice jumping exercise on thesupport cloth 24. Under this circumstance, theresilient members 26 can provide thesupport cloth 24 an upward rebounding force to enable the user to repeatedly jump on thesupport cloth 24 up and down. In other words, themultifunctional sofa 10 of the present invention combines the functions of chair, bed and exercise equipment, such that the home living space can be effectively utilized so as to preserve more space for home activities. - Based on the technical features of the present invention, various modifications to the
multifunctional sofa 10 may be made. For example, theedge strips 241 may be omitted. Further,FIG. 5 shows amultifunctional sofa 10A made in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention. Thesupport cloth 24 is provided at the outer periphery thereof with a plurality ofconnection sleeves 243 and a plurality of wave-shaped edge strips 241′. Eachedge strip 241′ has two ends inserted through twoadjacent connection sleeves 243. With this structural design, one end of one or moreresilient members 26 can be hooked on the wave crest of theedge strip 241′. -
FIG. 6 shows amultifunctional sofa 10B made in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention. The structure of themultifunctional sofa 10B is similar to that of themultifunctional sofa 10 of the first embodiment, except that theframe 22′ has a circular shape, thesupport cloth 24′ has also a circular shape and is located inside theframe 22′, and theresilient members 26′ are resilient ropes. Eachresilient member 26′ is connected with theframe 22′ in a way that theresilient member 26′ is wound around theframe 22′, and theresilient member 26′ is connected with thesupport cloth 24′ in a way that theresilient member 26′ is penetrated through thesupport cloth 24′. - The way that the
resilient members 26 are connected between theframe 22 and thesupport cloth 24 is not limited to the ones disclosed in the above-mentioned embodiment, and the shapes and structures of theframe 22 and thesupport cloth 24 may be modified. Further, the connecting way between the back supportingframe 30 and thebase seat 20 is not limited to a pivotally connected way. For example, the back supportingframe 30 may be fixedly mourned to thebase seat 20. In this case, the support posts 50 can be omitted and thecushion pad 40 can be placed on thebase seat 20 without covering theback supporting frame 30. In another aspect, if shortresilient members 26 are used, thesupport cloth 24 may be arranged to be abutted with theframe 22 without the gap 2. If theresilient members 26 are springs, theresilient members 26 may be arranged on the top or bottom surface of the outer periphery of thesupport cloth 24. When the user jumps on thesupport cloth 24, agap 28 may intermittently occur between theframe 22 and thecloth 24. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
