Abstract

One example hat may include a cinch hole in a top portion of the hat with an opening surrounded by a closed loop pocket which houses a drawstring that exits the closed loop pocket in a same location or a substantially close location.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

Examples provide a hat with a mechanism for the hat to be worn with a high ponytail by providing an access mechanism near the upper crown of the hat.

BACKGROUND ART

Conventional high ponytail or other types of hair styles have limited head piece options. Whether it be a ribbon, fancy hat, baseball hat, etc., the hairstyles that include protruding portions of hair, such as the high ponytail, dreadlocks, braids, etc., and regardless of whether the hair is real or fake, the options are limited. Since the hair will be in the way of anything worn on the head, the likelihood of purchasing and wearing a hat are limited by the hairstyles people adopt. Some of the earlier types of hats that have been associated with high hair styles are limited in their ability to accommodate such high hair styles.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

One example embodiment may include a cinch hole in a top portion of the hat that includes an opening surrounded by a closed loop pocket which houses a drawstring that exits the closed loop pocket in a same location or a substantially close location.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Example embodiments of a hat with a hair passage mechanism are included herein. The example embodiments described may be part of the same embodiment or may be separate distinct embodiments or may be a combination of more than one embodiment.
FIG. 1 is a front view of a hat according to example embodiments of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 1, the hat 10 may be a multiple panel construction, such as a two, three, four, five or six panel hat, etc. The front of the hat may instead by a pinch front with a single panel in the front having no seam or a partial seam as opposed to a full seam. The hat 10 is displayed as a five-panel baseball style cap. The hat 10 is structured with a standard hat brim 14.
FIG. 2 is a rear view of the hat including a drawstring according to example embodiments of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, the hat 10 contains a cinch passage hole loop 20 which may be a closed loop that permits a drawstring 24 to pass-through the cinch passage hole loop 20 (‘hole loop’) at an upper crown portion of the hat. The drawstring 24 is threaded through the closed loop cinch portion (pocket) at the upper crown and secured with a cord lock 22, which ultimately locks the user's ponytail securely in the cinch passage hole 20. The ponytail will be pulled through the cinch hole 20 simultaneously while putting on the hat. The cinch hole 20 can be loosened by letting slack of the drawstring 24 into the loop to increase the diameter of the loop 20. Once the hair of the user is pulled through the loop 20, the drawstring 24 may be tightened to decrease the size of the diameter of the loop 20 which holds the ponytail or other hairstyle in place.
FIG. 3 is a top view perspective of the hat including a high ponytail opening with a cinch loop and an interior soft material lining according to example embodiments of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 3, the example includes a soft or comfortable material, such as a satin liner 30 that is sewn to the hat and which may be affixed to an elastic sweat band 32 or other crown lining material.
FIG. 4 is another top view perspective of the hat including a high ponytail opening with a cinch loop pocket, drawstring and an exterior material lining according to example embodiments of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 4, the top layer 40, such as wool, plastic, canvas, denim, etc., may be sewn over the previous layer 30. The cinch loop 20 may be a similar material to the liner 30, the outside layer 40 or a different material, such as an elastic material that has a closed loop to hold the drawstring 24 into a fixed position.
FIG. 5 is a side view perspective of the hat that illustrates the cinch hole and drawstring at the upper crown portion of the hat according to example embodiments. Referring to FIG. 5, the hat 10 has a predominantly normal appearance from all sides, however, the loop pocket will be visible from the top of the hat. If no hair is desired to be passed through the center of the hat, the drawstring may be pulled tight and tucked back into the top of the hat to conceal the drawstring 24, loop 20 and even the cord lock 22, similar to tucking laces into a shoe so that the materials will be concealed. The drawstring may exit the loop pocket in a same hole location that is shared by both ends of the drawstring, or two separate holes which are substantially close to one another.
In another example, the size of the loop 20 may be varied, such as to less than one centimeter or greater than one inch. The loop may instead include one or more snap buttons, VELCRO segments, or magnets which can permit the loosening and securing of the material of the hat to increase or decrease the size of the loop 20 at any given time.
It will be readily understood that the components of the application, as generally described and illustrated in the figures herein, may be arranged and designed in a wide variety of different configurations. Thus, the detailed description of the embodiments is not intended to limit the scope of the application as claimed but is merely representative of selected embodiments of the application.
One having ordinary skill in the art will readily understand that the above may be practiced with operations or materials in a different type and order, and/or with hardware elements in configurations that are different than those which are disclosed. Therefore, although the application has been described based upon these preferred embodiments, it would be apparent to those of skill in the art that certain modifications, variations, and alternative constructions would be apparent.
While preferred embodiments of the present application have been described, it is to be understood that the embodiments described are illustrative only and the scope of the application is to be defined solely by the appended claims when considered with a full range of equivalents and modifications thereto.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A hat comprising:

a cinch hole in a top portion of the hat comprising an opening surrounded by a closed loop pocket which houses a drawstring that exits the closed loop pocket in a same location or a substantially close location.

2. The hat of claim 1, comprising

a securing lock that holds the drawstring in a fixed position.

3. The hat of claim 1, comprising

a brim; and

a plurality of segments sewn together to form the non-brim portion of the hat, wherein the closed loop pocket is a different material than the plurality of segments and is sewn into each of the plurality of segments.

4. The hat of claim 1, wherein the closed loop pocket can increase or decrease the diameter of the opening depending on how tight the drawstring is pulled.

5. The hat of claim 3, comprising

a satin lining sewed to each of the plurality of segments.

6. The hat of claim 1, comprising

an elastic sweatband sewed to each of the plurality of segments.

7. The hat of claim 1, comprising

a pinch front portion of the hat affixed to a brim.
