Description

    RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • The subject matter of this application is related to Chinese Utility Model Application No. 2021219253271, filed on 2021 Aug. 17, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/113,401, filed on 2020 Nov. 13, all of which applications are incorporated herein by reference in their entireties.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Soft personal-use salves or sticks such as deodorant or lipstick are typically packaged in a tube body. Typical packaging, however, does not take into account the risk of easy access by children. For example, the upper cap of a deodorant tube is typically an ordinary removable cap, which can be easily opened by children. A lower cap on a deodorant stick is typically not secured, enabling that children can easily pull it out, thus there is a risk of the contents being exposed, abused, and/or ingested by children. In addition, existing tube bodies are typically a single-layer structure of ABS material, not environmentally friendly for direct contact to the internal product. The product is also often in direct contact with the upper cap, which can cause contamination of the product between uses.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • This disclosure relates to the technical field of packaging for a stick, topical or salve personal product, such as deodorant, which has safety features to prevent access by children. Disclosed is a safe container to prevent children from opening in view of the shortcomings of the existing technology. The container is featured by good structural safety, inaccessibility for children, and ease of use.
  • In one embodiment, a child resistant deodorant stick container can be used for the legal cannabis industry where people have topicals and salves that are applied to certain areas of the body, such as the elbow, to ease pain. This stick container can be implemented using a “line up the arrows” mechanism, quarter turn opening mechanism, or other child resistant functions, all covered in this application. By quarter turn, we mean a child resistant function where you push down and turn about one quarter of a full turn in order to then lift and open, versus many other child resistant functions which turn 360 degrees and you push down and turn. The quarter turn allows for the deodorant to not scuff when opening, as may be the case with line up the arrows versions if the consumer does not twist the stick down each time they use the product. It is better to adhere a tamper evident label or other tamper evident packaging to quarter turn versus line up the arrows, as line up the arrows rotates and may break the tamper evident seal even before the packaging has been opened. The container allows for a quarter turn, while still being flush on the exterior. This is important for not only the look, but also for the ability to automate filling and also apply labels. If the cap is larger than the base, it can look like a flashlight and be very ugly and will hurt the ability for the product to sell. The deodorant stick container has a lower cap which, once it is attached, cannot be removed, but still works in automation systems. This is important because during child resistant testing, if the child removes the bottom, that may be considered a fail.
  • In one embodiment, a deodorant tube comprises a bottle body, an upper cap component, a lower cap, an inner liner, a rotating component and a discardable cover, wherein: the upper cap component comprises an outer upper cap and an inner upper cap. The inner wall of the outer upper cap is arranged with multiple sets of bayonet lock structures along the circumferential distribution. Each set of bayonet lock structures includes an upper bayonet lock and a lower bayonet lock. The inner upper cap is arranged with multiple convex elastic pressing pieces along the circumferential distribution. The side wall of the inner upper cap is arranged with a plurality of upper clamping slots matching the upper bayonet lock along the circumference, the upper side of the bottle body is arranged with a plurality of lower clamping slots matching the lower bayonet lock along the circumference, and a chute for the lower bayonet lock sliding is formed between the adjacent lower clamping slot. The top piece is sealed with the inner liner, and the bottom of the rotating component is connected with the lower cap. The deodorant tube structure of the utility model has good safety, and the upper and lower caps are not easy to be opened by children. And the bottle body adopts a double-layer structure, which can avoid the deodorant from being polluted and can be used normally.
  • A safe deodorant tube to prevent children from opening is provided, comprising a bottle body, an upper cap component disposed above the bottle body, a lower cap disposed below the bottle body, an inner liner disposed inside the bottle body and a rotating component for ejecting the deodorant, and a discardable cover disposed above the inner liner, wherein: the upper cap component comprises an outer upper cap and an inner upper cap, the inner wall of the outer upper cap is arranged with multiple sets of clamping convex structures distributed along the circumference, each set of bayonet lock structures along the circumferential distribution; each set of bayonet lock structures includes an upper bayonet lock and a lower bayonet lock; the inner upper cap is provided with a plurality of raised elastic pressing pieces along the circumferential distribution; the side walls of the inner upper cap are provided with a plurality of upper clamping slots matching with the upper bayonet lock along the circumferential distribution; the upper side walls of the bottle body are provided with a plurality of lower clamping slot matching with the lower bayonet lock along the circumferential distribution; and a chute is formed between adjacent lower clamping slot for the sliding of the lower bayonet lock; the discardable cover is hermetically connected with the inner liner, and the bottom of the rotating component is connected with the lower cap.
  • The elastic pressing piece can be set in one body, contacted with the inner wall of the outer cap. The bottom of the liner is formed with a circular clamping slot, which clamps with a circular clamping slot formed in the inner wall of the bottle body.
  • The rotating component can comprise a base, a screw rod fixed with the base and a piston nested in the screw. The base can be clamped with the inner wall of the lower cap, and a through hole is opened in the center of the piston. The inner wall of the through hole can be provided with an internal thread matched with the screw thread.
  • The outer side of the piston can be set with several clamping slots along the circumference distribution, and the inner wall of the inner liner can be set with several strip-shaped bayonet lock along the circumference distribution. The strip-shaped bayonet locks can correspond to the clamping slot one by one.
  • The discardable cover can be provided with a convex pull-out piece. The bottle body, upper cap component and lower cap can be all processed by plastic integral molding, and the inner liner can be made of polypropylene material.
  • As will be appreciated by one skilled in the art, multiple aspects described in this summary can be variously combined in different operable embodiments. All such operable combinations, though they may not be explicitly set forth in the interest of efficiency, are specifically contemplated by this disclosure.

The base 61 can be clamped to the inner wall of the lower cap 3. A through hole can be defined in the center of the piston 63, and an internal thread which is threaded with the screw 62 can be arranged on the inner wall of the through hole.
  • The outer side of the piston 63 can be provided with a plurality of clamping slots 631 distributed along the circumference, and the inner wall of the inner liner 4 can be provided with a plurality of the strip bayonet lock 42 distributed along the circumference. The strip bayonet lock 42 corresponds to clamping slot 631. When the lower cap 3 and the base 61 are rotated, the base 61 drives the screw 62 to rotate, so that the piston 63 moves upward along the strip bayonet lock 42, and then the internal deodorant is continuously pushed upward.
  • The discardable cover 5 can be set with a pull-out piece 51. When used, the hand-type pull-out piece 51 can quickly open the discardable cover 5, which is easy to operate. After use, the discardable cover 5 is sealed with the inner liner 4, which can avoid the contamination of the deodorant, ensure the cleanliness of the product, and is conducive to recycling.
  • The bottle body 2, the upper cap component 1 and the lower cap 3 can all be made of plastic integrated molding, and the liner 4 can be made of polypropylene material. Compared with ABS materials with existing technologies, PP (polypropylene) is more environmentally friendly, has wider application scope, and is easy to be produced and processed by integrated molding.
  • FIG. 4 is a photograph of an assembled topical stick container in accordance with one embodiment.
  • FIG. 5 is a photograph of the topical stick container with the cap removed.
  • FIG. 6 is an illustration of an exploded view of the stick container. Also shown is the actual wax 602, which can be filled through the bottom and then capped with the lower cap. Once the lower cap is attached it does not come off and is permanent, which is important so that the children are not able to get into the container from the bottom during the child resistant testing.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates additional perspective views of an outer and inner upper cap in accordance with one embodiment.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates additional partially transparent views of the operation of the locking mechanism of the upper cap to the bottle body in accordance with one embodiment.
  • Although the subject matter has been described in terms of certain embodiments, other embodiments that may or may not provide various features and aspects set forth herein shall be understood to be contemplated by this disclosure. The specific embodiments set forth herein are disclosed as examples only, and the scope of the patented subject matter is defined by the claims that follow.
