Description
- This application is a continuation of U.S. Non-Provisional patent application Ser. No. 16/577,852 filed on Sep. 20, 2019. The entire contents of the application are incorporated by reference.
- The embodiments described herein relate generally to pillows, and more particularly, to a pillow designed to help prevent wrinkles from forming in a user's skin, particularly on his or her face.
- Standard pillows crease a user's face while the user is sleeping, thus causing premature wrinkles to appear from the constant contact between the face and pillow. Existing beauty pillows are flat and offer cutouts for the sides of a user's face. However, when the user is asleep at night, his or her face never actually stays in the cutouts, thus preventing the existing pillows from working as intended.
- Therefore, what is needed is a pillow designed to conform to a user's head even while the user is moving, while simultaneously staying in place and preventing creasing in the cheeks and the sides of the face.
- Some embodiments of the present disclosure include a pillow for preventing or reducing formation of wrinkles in a user's face. The pillow may include a pillow body designed to support and partially wrap around a user's head. The pillow body may include a bottom portion designed to be positioned against a back of the user's head; a pair of head sidewalls extending upward from the bottom portion proximate to a first edge of the bottom portion; a pair of neck side walls extending upward from the bottom portion proximate to a second edge of the bottom portion; and a cheek cutout separating each head sidewall from an adjacent neck sidewall. The cheek cutouts may be sized and positioned to accommodate a user's cheeks and side face.
- The detailed description of some embodiments of the invention is made below with reference to the accompanying figures, wherein like numerals represent corresponding parts of the figures.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the present disclosure, shown in use. -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of one embodiment of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a font view of one embodiment of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a section view of one embodiment of the present disclosure, taken along line 5-5 inFIG. 3 . -
FIG. 6 is a section view of one embodiment of the present disclosure, taken along line 6-6 inFIG. 3 . - In the following detailed description of the invention, numerous details, examples, and embodiments of the invention are described. However, it will be clear and apparent to one skilled in the art that the invention is not limited to the embodiments set forth and that the invention can be adapted for any of several applications.
- The device of the present disclosure may be used as a pillow that prevents or reduces the formation of wrinkles and may comprise the following elements. This list of possible constituent elements is intended to be exemplary only, and it is not intended that this list be used to limit the device of the present application to just these elements. Persons having ordinary skill in the art relevant to the present disclosure may understand there to be equivalent elements that may be substituted within the present disclosure without changing the essential function or operation of the device.
-
- a. Pillow Body
- b. Cheek Cutouts
- c. Optional Adjustable Strap
- The various elements of the present disclosure may be related in the following exemplary fashion. It is not intended to limit the scope or nature of the relationships between the various elements and the following examples are presented as illustrative examples only.
- By way of example, and referring to
FIGS. 1-6 , some embodiments of the invention include a pillow for preventing or reducing the formation of wrinkles in a user's face, the pillow comprising apillow body 10 designed to support a user's head and neck, wherein thepillow body 12 comprises a bottom portion designed to be positioned against the back of the user's head, a pair ofhead side walls 14 extending upward from the bottom portion proximate to a first edge of the bottom portion, a pair ofneck side walls 20 extending upward from the bottom portion proximate to a second edge of the bottom portion and acheek cutout 16 separating eachhead sidewall 14 from theadjacent neck sidewall 20, thecheek cutouts 16 may be sized and positioned to accommodate a user's cheeks and side face such that the cheeks and the side of the user's face do not contact thepillow body 10 during use. Thepillow body 10 body further comprises ahead slot 14 separating the pair ofhead sidewalls 14 and aneck slot 18 separating the pair ofneck sidewalls 20, such that theuser 22 may place his or her head into the pillow, aligning the cheeks and side face with thecheek cutouts 16, positioning the neck into theneck slot 18, and positioning the upper portion of his or her head into thehead slot 12. In some embodiments, the pillow further comprises an adjustable strap (not shown) attached to eachhead sidewall 14, wherein the adjustable strap may be used to secure thepillow body 10 to the user's head, to prevent the user's head from becoming positioned incorrectly during use thereof. - As shown in the Figures, the
neck sidewalls 20 andneck slot 18 together may be substantially U-shaped, while thehead sidewalls 14 and thehead slot 12 may also be substantially U-shaped. Thecheek cutouts 16, as shown inFIG. 5 , theneck slot 18, and thehead slot 12 may also each be substantially U-shaped, preventing the cheeks and side face from being contacted by the pillow during use thereof. In some embodiments, and as shown, for example, inFIG. 5 , the distance from the edge of thehead sidewall 14 to thecheck cutout 16 may be larger than the distance from the edge of theneck sidewall 20 to thecheek cutout 16. Thus, thehead sidewalls 14 may be wider than theneck sidewalls 20. Additionally, as shown inFIG. 4 , theneck sidewalls 20 may be shorter than thehead sidewalls 14. However, other variations in shape and size of each of thecheek cutouts 16,neck sot 18,head slot 12,head sidewalls 14, andneck sidewalls 20 are envisioned. - While other dimensions are envisioned, a particular embodiment of the pillow of the present disclosure may have the following dimensions. The bottom portion may have a height of about 2.841 inches, the
head sidewalls 14 may have a height of about 10.5 inches, the neck sidewalls may have a height of about 9.109 inches, the neck sidewalls may have a width of about 1.593 inches, the head side walls may have a width of about 4.882 inches, and the pillow may have an overall length (from an outer edge of theneck sidewalls 18 to an outer edge of the head sidewalls 12) of about 12.25 inches. - The pillow of the present disclosure may be constructed using any suitable materials and, in some embodiments, comprises a material, such as foam encased in a fabric covering, that fully conforms to a user's head shape, providing for a comfortable night's sleep while simultaneously preventing the pillow from contacting the user's face. Unlike conventional beauty pillows, the pillow of the present disclosure is designed to wrap around the back and sides of a user's head and neck to stay in place regardless of the motion of the user.
- To use the pillow of the present disclosure, the
user 22 may simply place his or her head and neck into thepillow body 10, such that his or her neck is positioned within theneck slot 18, an upper portion of his or her head is positioned in thehead slot 12, and his or her cheeks and side face align with thecheek cutouts 16. When included, theuser 22 may secure his or her head within thepillow body 10 using the adjustable strap. Theuser 22 may then sleep as normal, wherein the overall shape of the pillow may prevent the pillow from being incorrectly positioned with respect to the user's head during use thereof. - The above-described embodiments of the invention are presented for purposes of illustration and not of limitation. While these embodiments of the invention have been described with reference to numerous specific details, one of ordinary skill in the art will recognize that the invention can be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit of the invention. Thus, one of ordinary skill in the art would understand that the invention is not to be limited by the foregoing illustrative details, but rather is to be defined by the appended claims.
