Abstract
Description
- This is a continuation application of U.S. application Ser. No. 16/716,606, filed on Dec. 17, 2019.
- The present invention relates to a slide rail assembly, and more particularly, to a slide rail assembly applicable to a greater mounting tolerance.
- In a rack system, a slide rail assembly is configured to be mounted to a rack. U.S. Pat. No. 8,028,965 B2 discloses a slide rail assembly having a front part and a rear part fixed to two posts of a rack through a connecting part (a bracket). A carried object (such as an electronic device or a drawer) can be mounted to the rack through the slide rail assembly.
- In addition, no matter how the slide rail assembly is mounted to the rack, a mounting position of the slide rail assembly is usually fixed and cannot be moved once the slide rail assembly is mounted to the rack.
- A distance between the two posts of the rack usually meets a predetermined specification. Therefore, there is a size limitation for the carried object. In other words, when a carried object has a different dimension (such as a different width), a position or a dimension (such as a width) of the slide rail assembly must be changed if necessary.

In addition, theinner rail 26 is configured to carry a carriedobject 48. - As shown in
FIG. 5 , two sides of the carriedobject 48 are respectively arranged with theslide rail assemblies 20. Each ofslide rail assemblies 20 is mounted to the correspondingfirst post 40 a (or thesecond post 40 b). Moreover, a post distance W1 defined between two of thefirst posts 40 a (or thesecond posts 40 b) of the rack usually meets a predetermined specification width. When the carriedobject 48 has a carried object width W2 and when a width of theslide rail assembly 20 is not equal to a predetermined width W3, theslide rail assembly 20 must be transversely movable relative to the post in order to fit the carried object width W2 within the post distance W1. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , the reinforcingmember 22 a is regarded as one part of therail member 22, and the installation holes 32, 32 a are regarded as thesame installation hole 32. Theinstallation hole 32 of therail member 22 is communicated with a first side L1 and a second side L2 of thelongitudinal body 30. In the present embodiment, theinstallation hole 32 of therail member 22 is configured to transversely penetrate through thelongitudinal body 30. - Moreover, one of the
rail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 comprises a second blocking feature B2 and a third blocking feature B3. In the present embodiment, therail member 22 and the reinforcingmember 22 a respectively comprise the third blocking feature B3 and the second blocking feature B2, but the present invention is not limited thereto. Therail member 22 can comprise both the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3, or therail member 22 and the reinforcingmember 22 a can respectively comprise the third blocking feature B3 and the second blocking feature B2. Since the reinforcingmember 22 a is connected (such as fixedly connected) to therail member 22 to be regarded as one part of therail member 22, it can be overall considered that therail member 22 comprises the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. - Preferably, a transverse width T is defined between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3.
- Preferably, the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3 are arranged in the
installation hole 32 of therail member 22. For example, therail member 22 has a groove 33 (or a recessed part) arranged in theinstallation hole 32, and the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3 are two inner walls of the groove 33 (or recessed part), but the present invention is not limited thereto. - On the other hand, the other one of the
rail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 comprises a first blocking feature B1 arranged between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. In the present embodiment, the mountingstructure 24 comprises the first blocking feature B1, but the present invention is not limited thereto. A dimension (such as thickness) of the first blocking feature B1 is smaller than the transverse width T. Therail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 are transversely (laterally) movable relative to each other within a limited range through arranging the first blocking feature B1 between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. As shown inFIG. 6 , the mountingstructure 24 is connected (such as screwed) to thefirst post 40 a through the connectingpart 38. Therefore, in the present embodiment, therail member 22 is transversely movable relative to the mountingstructure 24 within a limited range (refer toFIG. 7 andFIG. 8 ). - Furthermore, the supporting
part 36 of the mountingstructure 24 comprises the first blocking feature B1, and the supportingpart 36 has a through hole H.The connecting part 38 is configured to be inserted into theinstallation hole 32 of therail member 22 and the through hole H of the supportingpart 36. - Preferably, the supporting
part 36 further comprises amain body part 54, and the first blocking feature B1 is connected to themain body part 54. A contour of the first blocking feature B1 is greater than a contour of themain body part 54, and the through hole H penetrates through the first blocking feature B1 and themain body part 54. - Preferably, the connecting
part 38 comprises ahead section 38 a and abody section 38 b connected to thehead section 38 a. Thehead section 38 a is greater than thebody section 38 b. Thebody section 38 b of the connectingpart 38 is inserted into theinstallation hole 32 of therail member 22 and the through hole H of the supportingpart 36. Thebody section 38 b of the connectingpart 38 is configured to be connected (such as screwed) to thescrew hole 46 of thefirst post 40 a. The supportingpart 36 is sleeved on an outer periphery of thehead section 38 a of the connectingpart 38, and the supportingpart 36 is configured to provide support between a wall surface of thefirst post 40 a and thehead section 38 a of the connectingpart 38. - As shown in
FIG. 6 andFIG. 7 , therail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 are transversely movable relative to each other within a limited range through arranging the first blocking feature B1 between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. In the present embodiment, the rail member 22 (and the reinforcingmember 22 a) is transversely moved a first distance G1 relative to the connectingpart 38 of the mountingstructure 24 along a first direction D1 to a first predetermined position P1 (as shown inFIG. 7 ). Overall, the rail member 22 (and the reinforcingmember 22 a) can be transversely moved to the first predetermined position P1 through the supportingpart 36 of the mountingstructure 24, such that therail member 22 can be considered to be mounted at the first predetermined position P1 by the connectingpart 38. - As shown in
FIG. 6 andFIG. 8 , therail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 are transversely movable relative to each other within a limited range through arranging the first blocking feature B1 between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. In the present embodiment, the rail member 22 (and the reinforcingmember 22 a) is transversely moved a second distance G2 relative to the connectingpart 38 of the mountingstructure 24 along a second direction D2 opposite to the first direction D1 to a second predetermined position P2 (as shown inFIG. 8 ). Overall, the rail member 22 (and the reinforcingmember 22 a) can be transversely moved to the second predetermined position P2 through the supportingpart 36 of the mountingstructure 24, such that therail member 22 can be considered to be mounted at the second predetermined position P2 by the connectingpart 38. - Therefore, in one case, for a specific market requirement of mounting another carried object (such as a second carried object) having a width greater than the carried object width W2 of the carried object 48 (the first carried object shown in
FIG. 5 ) to the rack, a user can adjust therail member 22 to move to the first predetermined position P1 (as shown inFIG. 7 ). Or, in another case, for a specific market requirement of mounting another carried object (such as a third carried object) having a width smaller than the carried object width W2 of the carried object 48 (the first carried object shown inFIG. 5 ) to the rack, the user can adjust therail member 22 to move to the second predetermined position P2 (as shown inFIG. 8 ). - Moreover, when the mounting
structure 24 has not been connected (such as screwed) to thefirst post 40 a, therail member 22 and the mountingstructure 24 are transversely (laterally) movable relative to each other within a limited range through arranging the first blocking feature B1 between the second blocking feature B2 and the third blocking feature B3. -
FIG. 9 is a diagram showing a slide rail assembly according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Different from the first embodiment, arail member 200 of the second embodiment does not comprise the third blocking feature B3 of the first embodiment. Moreover, the second blocking feature B2 of therail member 200 is arranged between the target object (such as the wall surface of thefirst post 40 a) and the first blocking feature B1 of the supportingpart 36 of the mountingstructure 24. According to such arrangement, therail member 200 can also be transversely movable within a limited range. Furthermore, since therail member 200 does not comprise the third blocking feature B3, the supportingpart 36 and the connectingpart 38 of the mountingstructure 24 can be provided as a kit for mounting therail member 200 to the target object (such as thefirst post 40 a) when needed. -
FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a slide rail assembly according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Different from the first embodiment, a connectingpart 302 and a supportingpart 304 of a mountingstructure 300 of the third embodiment are integrated into one component. Furthermore, the component is a bolt-like component. For example, the mountingstructure 300 comprises the connectingpart 302 and the supportingpart 304 integrally formed, and the supportingpart 304 is greater than the connectingpart 302. According to such arrangement, the mountingstructure 300 can have a simple structure to provide the same effect as the first embodiment or the second embodiment. - Therefore, the slide rail assembly according to the embodiments of the present invention is characterized in that:
- 1. The
rail member 22 has the installation feature arranged in the transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction of therail member 22, and the mountingstructure 24 is mounted to the installation feature of therail member 22. When therail member 22 is mounted to a target object (such as thefirst post 40 a) through the mountingstructure 24, therail member 22 is transversely movable relative to the mountingstructure 24. - 2. The user can adjust the transverse position of the
rail member 22 to fit the carried objects with different widths within the post distance W1. - Those skilled in the art will readily observe that numerous modifications and alterations of the device and method may be made while retaining the teachings of the invention. Accordingly, the above disclosure should be construed as limited only by the metes and bounds of the appended claims.
