Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/051,961, which was filed on Jul. 15, 2020 and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of headbands. More specifically, the present invention relates to an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal headband device adapted to support and anchor a thread used during hair removal and eyebrow threading procedures. The eyebrow threading and facial hair removal headband device comprises: three layers of headbands sewn together along a longitudinal direction; a metal hook positioned such that the metal hook is placed proximal to the forehead of a wearer; the metal hook includes a thread rolled on it to keep the thread taut during the eyebrow threading and facial hair removal procedure, thereby eliminating the use of an individual's mouth to hold the thread; and thereby allowing the user or wearer to wear a facemask during the threading procedure. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • By way of background, threading is the most commonly used method and procedure for maintaining groomed eyebrows and removing facial hair for females. Threading is an ancient hair removal technique that has been used in India and the Middle East for thousands of years. However, recently, threading has begun to gain popularity in Western culture, particularly in the United States. The threading technique is a proven alternative to waxing and plucking.
  • The threading process is generally done by a salon technician or beautician. The conventional method of threading involves holding the thread in one's mouth and performing the threading procedure using both hands while maintaining a taut thread. Eyebrow threading removes one clean line of hair all at once, making it much quicker and easier to shape eyebrows.
  • During the threading and facial hair removal procedure, a close proximity is maintained between the threader (who performs the threading procedure) and the client (on whose face the threading is performed). Further, as the thread needs to be held in the mouth, the threader cannot wear a facemask and is also prohibited from conversing with the client during the procedure. Moreover, the saliva of the threader might touch the face of the client via the thread held in the mouth by the threader.
  • During the time of a pandemic and also if the threader or the client has a common cold, flu, or any other communicable disease, the threader or client can transmit viruses, bacteria, and other airborne pathogens to the other person. The client can wear a facemask, at least for some of the procedure, but the threader is unable to wear a mask. Also, constant holding of the thread in the mouth can cause headaches and sore necks, since holding of the thread is accompanied by clenching of the teeth.
  • Threading during the facial hair removal process presents its own unique safety concerns due to the proximity between the client and the threader. The client is at a higher risk of being contaminated by the threader's saliva via the thread.
  • Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that enables a threader to perform the threading and facial hair removal process without holding the thread in one's mouth. There is also a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that allows the threader to wear a facemask while performing the eyebrow and facial hair removal procedure. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that maintains a taut thread and allows for a conversation between the threader and the client. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that eliminates the clenching of the teeth due to holding the string tightly in the teeth. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that secures an eyebrow thread line in an alternative fashion, compared to holding the line in one's mouth. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool that cuts down on pathogens from hand to mouth cross-contamination, and enables users to thread eyebrows while wearing a face mask without increased risk of contracting germs, viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.
  • The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance elastic headband tool with an attached metal hook on a front portion of the headband tool. The headband tool comprises: an outer headband layer, a middle headband layer, and an inner headband layer; the headband layers are made up of elastic and stretchable material; a metal hook permanently or removably attached to the headbands wherein the metal hook is accessible on the outer headband; the metal hook includes a thread rolled on it which is used for performing a threading procedure; the metal hook is sewn or attached using a clip near the top edges of the headbands in the front portion of the headband tool, such that the thread remains taut during the threading procedure; and, the thread is not required to be held in the mouth of a user while performing the threading procedure. The user wearing the threading assistance elastic headband tool can wear a facemask to prevent transmission of pathogens during the threading procedure.
  • In this manner, the novel eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance tool of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives, and provides a relatively safe, lightweight, portable, cost-effective, convenient and effective solution for inhibiting contracting of germs, viruses, bacteria and other pathogens while performing facial hair removal procedures. The threader is able to wear a facemask and converse with their client since the thread is held by a hook present on the headband tool and not held tightly in the threader's mouth.
  • SUMMARY
  • The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. • The present invention, in one potential embodiment, comprises an eyebrow threading and facial hair removal assistance elastic headband tool with an attached metal hook on a front portion of the headband tool. The headband tool comprises: an outer headband layer, a middle headband layer, and an inner headband layer; the headband layers are made up of elastic and stretchable material; a metal hook permanently or removably attached to the headbands wherein the metal hook is accessible on the outer headband; the metal hook includes a thread rolled on it which is used for performing a threading procedure; the metal hook is sewn or attached using a clip near the top edges of the headbands in the front portion of the headband tool, such that the thread remains taut during the threading procedure; and the thread is not required to be held in the mouth of a user while performing the threading procedure. The user wearing the threading assistance elastic headband tool can wear a facemask to prevent transmission of pathogens during the threading procedure.
  • Referring initially to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of the eyebrow threading assistance tool of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed structure. The eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 cuts down on bacteria from hand to mouth cross-contamination while eliminating the requirement of holding the thread in one's mouth during a threading procedure. The eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 includes three layers of headbands sewn together to provide support to the threading line. An outer headband 102, a middle headband 104, and an inner headband 106 can be sewn to each other at one or more places 120 to provide a smooth and secure mounting of a threading line hook 110.
  • The headbands 102, 104, 106 are stretchable and can be easily worn on the head by a threader while performing eyebrow threading or facial hair removal on a customer. The threading line hook 110 is a metal hook clipped onto the outer headband 102 and the thread line can be placed on or around the metal hook 110 to keep the threading line taut while performing eyebrow threading or facial hair removal. It is to be appreciated that the hook 110 can be mounted where the three layers of headbands are sewn together, thereby providing support of all three layers of headbands to the retention of the hook 110.
  • The eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 can be worn like a conventional headband and can be used at home, salons, or the like. The eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 also eliminates clenching of the teeth that is associated with the holding of the threading line tightly in-between one's teeth. Clenching of the teeth is a cause of headaches and sore necks.
  • The inner headband 106 is made up of a soft material like spandex or nylon, which is comfortable against the skin, and is also moisture-wicking. The outer headband 102 can be made up of a harder, more tightly woven material to provide further support to the retention of the metal hook 110 while maintaining tautness to the threading line. The metal hook 110 can be replaced or removed from the outer headband 102 to replenish the threading line as necessary.
  • The eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 can come in different sizes, colors and designs to meet the requirements of users and offers contactless threading and facial hair removal services without the threading line being held in one's mouth. It should be noted that threading and facial hair removal are essential beauty services and the tool 100 eliminates the chance of a user's saliva coming in contact with another person.
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of eyebrow threading and facial hair removal process of the prior art. Threading is a primary mode of hair removal for females and conventionally involves, a user 200, such as a salon technician or a beautician, placing the thread or threading line 204 in their mouth 202 while working in close proximity to a client 210 to remove eyebrow or facial hair 212. The thread 204 might catch the saliva of the user 200 which can transmit viruses, bacteria, and other airborne pathogens. Also, the user 200 is not able to wear a mask as the thread 204 needs to be held in one's mouth 202 which can also cause transmission of pathogens because of the close proximity between the user 200 and the client 210. During a pandemic such as Covid-19, transmission of viruses poses a significant threat for salon technicians and their customers, which ultimately affects the health and well-being of everyone involved. As shown in FIG. 2, the thread 204 is kept taut by retaining the thread in one's mouth 202 and the procedure is performed using both hands 206, 208 by applying the thread 204 onto the client's eyebrow 212.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates a perspective view of the outer headband having a clipped metal hook with a threading line in accordance with the disclosed structure. The outer headband or layer 102 includes a metal hook or screw 110 which can be clipped, sewn, or otherwise attached to the outer headband 102. The hook 110 can also be attached to the middle headband or layer 104 and the inner headband or layer 106. The metal hook 110 can be attached near a top edge 1020 of the outer headband 102 and can be retained thereto while the procedure of eyebrow and facial hair threading is performed. The thread or threading line 204 is taken from an end and is unrolled to the desired length from the metal screw 110. The threading line 204, connected to at least the outer headband 102, is kept taut by the technician keeping his/her head in the desired working position at a given distance from the client 210 to perform threading of the eyebrows and facial hair.
  • The outer headband 102 is similar to a conventional headband in look, but the attachment of the metal hook 110 holding the threading line 204, and the associated use thereof, reduces the transmission of viruses, bacteria and other airborne pathogens, and also allows the person wearing the eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 to wear a facemask while performing the threading procedure.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates a perspective view of the inner headband of the eyebrow threading assistance tool in accordance with the disclosed structure. The inner headband 106 touches the skin of a user wearing the eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 of the present invention. The inner headband 106 can be made from a soft and stretchable material such as nylon or cloth. The inner headband can include a weave pattern comprising twill weave, satin weave and/or pile weave. The metal hook 110 is clipped or sewn to the inner headband 106 near the top edge 1060 of the inner headband 106 so that the individual headbands 102, 104, 106 remain tight and stable around a technician's head when the threading line is pulled taut by the user applying a relatively small force. As stated earlier, the outer headband layer 102, the middle headband layer 104, and the inner headband layer 106 are sewn together along at least one longitudinal sew line 120. The top ends of the headbands support and retain the metal hook 110, thereby providing a stationary mounting of the hook 110 to assist with maintaining a constant tautness of the threading line 204.
  • FIG. 5 illustrates a perspective view of a user wearing the eyebrow threading assistance tool of the present invention, thereby allowing the user to wear a facemask while performing facial hair removal on a client. A beautician or salon technician 200 wears the eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 in a way similar to a conventional headband, for example, in a ring around the head 502. The headband snugly fits around the head 502, with the hook or screw 110 having rolled thread 204 wrapped therearound in the front of the forehead of the user 200. The user 200 takes a desired length of the thread 204 from an end such that the thread 204 remains taut between the user's head and the client's face during the threading procedure.
  • FIG. 6 illustrates an enlarged partial cross-sectional view of the threading assistance tool including another potential embodiment of a retention mechanism for securing a threading line thereto. As shown, a threading line hook 1100 can comprise a hook arm 1102 and a mounting leg 1104. The mounting leg 1104 can be mounted between layers 104 and 106. It is to be appreciated that when the threading line 204 is pulled taut, the hook arm 1102 is pulled downward, which pivots the mounting leg 1104 backwards toward the user's forehead 1110. The forehead 1110 provides an abutment for retaining the hook 1100 in a secure orientation with the inner layer 106 providing some padding between the mounting leg 1104 and the user's forehead 1110.
  • As discussed, the present invention allows the user 200 to perform a threading procedure without having to hold the thread 204 in his/her mouth, therefore, the user 200 can wear a facemask 500 to prevent contamination and transmission of pathogens while performing a threading procedure of a client 210. The threading or hair removal procedure using the thread 204 remains similar to the conventional threading process using the thread 204 with both of the user's hands 206, 208 actively engaged in the threading process while providing more security and safety for both the user 200 and the client 210.
  • The thread 204, while connected to headbands 102, 104, 106, does not catch saliva of the user 200 and also significantly reduces the amount of airborne pathogens being transmitted. The user 200 can also talk to the client 210 safely during the threading procedure, thereby enriching the overall customer service experience. The tool 100 cuts down on bacteria and other pathogens from hand to mouth cross-contamination and eliminates clenching of the teeth that occurs when the technician holds the thread in between his or her teeth. Clenching of the teeth onto the thread can cause headaches and sore necks when the clenching duration is substantial.
  • The tool 100 of the present invention prevents the transmission of pathogens and cross-contamination, even in the close proximity between the user 200 and the client 210 during the threading procedure. The client 210 remains assured of the safety of not contracting pathogens during the procedure when the eyebrow threading headband device 100 is worn by the user 200.
  • The eyebrow threading headband device 100 can come in interchangeable colors for fashion purposes, along with custom logos for different companies and branding. The screw or hook 110 can be sewn, adhered or fastened to the headband layers for a secure attachment which provides a secure anchor for maintaining the tautness of the threading line.
  • The eyebrow threading headband device 100 is machine washable and can be sanitized for multiple uses. The tool 100 is ideal for threading of eyebrows, upper lips, and all other types of facial hair. The headband layers 102, 104, 106 are stretchable and can include an extending or retracting mechanism such as a buckle or a small strap. The tool 100 reduces the transmission of germs, bacteria, and other airborne pathogens while servicing salon clients.
  • In one embodiment, the eyebrow threading assistance tool 100 can come with a plurality of metal hooks or thread spools for the user to use and replace for increasing the longevity and use of the tool 100.
  • The tool 100 includes elastic headbands made up of stretchable cloth materials sized and shaped for positioning about the head and ears of an individual wearer. The cloth material includes sufficient elasticity to permit placement over a plurality of different-sized heads and can cover an individual's ears, forehead, and a rear portion of the head for a snug fit. The headbands can be made up of one or more materials comprising a washable woven material such as cotton, wool, polyethylene, combinations thereof and the like. In exemplary embodiments, the outer elastic headband can include a first weave, the middle elastic headband can include a second weave, and the inner elastic headband can include a third weave. The first weave and the second weave can be selected from a group consisting of a plain weave, a ripstop weave, a checkered weave, or a twill weave.
