FIG. 5 , each of the plurality ofslats 140 is a thin, narrow piece board, formed of wood. plastic, metal, or a synthetic material. In certain embodiments, theslats 140 are detachably mounted on the pair of side frame rails 110, for example, by bolts, nuts and/or screws. - As shown in
FIG. 4 , each of the pair of side frame rails 110 is foldable. - As shown in
FIGS. 1-4 , each of the pair of side frame rails 110 comprises afirst part 111 and asecond part 112 pivotally connected to each other. In certain embodiments, thefirst part 111 and thesecond part 112 are pivotally connected to each other by a folding mechanism (connection member) 115. Thefolding mechanism 115 connects thefirst part 111 and thesecond part 112 such that theside frame rail 110 is pivotally foldable at thefolding mechanism 115. In one exemplary embodiment shown inFIG. 3 , thefolding mechanism 115 is a hinge bracket. Other connecting means and other types of folding mechanism can also be utilized to practice the invention. - The side frame rails 110 can be made up with steel, aluminum, alloy, or synthetic materials. In certain embodiments, each side frame rails 110 is a steel rail.
- In certain embodiments, each end portion of the side frame rails 110 is a round portion, or a square portion.
- In addition, each
side frame rail 110 may have twoflanges 113 formed on each end portion of theside frame rail 110. Theflanges 113 are formed on the end portions of the side frame rails 110 in an integrated manner, or are welded onto the end portions of the side frame rails 110. - In the embodiment shown in
FIGS. 1-3 , the at least oneconnection bar 120 includes oneconnection bar 120. It should be appreciated that two or more connection bars can also be utilized to practice the invention. - As shown in
FIG. 3 , theconnection bar 120 comprises twoconnection brackets 121. Eachconnection bracket 121 is formed on an end of theconnection bar 120 in an integrated manner, or are welded onto the end of theconnection bar 120. Eachconnection bracket 121 comprises aconnection tab 121 a formed on the end of theconnection bar 120 and being perpendicular to theconnection bar 120, and aflange 121 b outwards extending from an edge of theconnection tab 121 a. Theconnection tab 121 a is formed on the end of theconnection bar 120 in an integrated manner, or are welded onto the end of theconnection bar 120. As assembled, theconnection tab 121 a of eachconnection bracket 121 is detachably mounted onto an inner side surface of a respectiveside frame rail 110 by bolts, nuts, and/orscrews 122, and theflange 121 b of eachconnection bracket 121 is in contact with a bottom (or upper) surface of said respectiveside frame rail 110. - In one exemplary embodiment shown in
FIGS. 1-3 , theconnection tab 121 a of eachconnection bracket 121 is detachably mounted onto said respectiveside frame rail 110 at thejoint portion 114 of thefirst part 111 and thesecond part 112 of said respectiveside frame rail 110. In certain embodiments, theconnection bar 120 has a length, L, that is fixed or adjustable and defines a size of the bed. For example, if a user wants to convert the bed from one size to another size, e.g., from a queen size to a king size, the user only needs to adjust the length L of theconnection bar 120 to fit the king size, or replace the queensize connection bar 120 with the kingsize connection bar 120. - In certain embodiments, the one
