Abstract

A collapsible closet assembly for facilitating a closet to be easily portable includes a closet that has a pair of lateral walls that are collapsible thereby facilitating the closet to be positionable in a collapsed position for transporting the closet. A door is positionable between an open position and a closed position. A top wall is hingedly coupled to the closet and the top wall is foldable downwardly on the closet when the closet is positioned in the collapsed position. A bottom wall is hingedly coupled to the closet and the bottom wall is foldable upwardly on the closet when the closet is positioned in the collapsed position.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to closet devices and more particularly pertains to a new closet device for facilitating a closet to be easily portable.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to closet devices including a collapsible closet comprising a plurality of hinged panels. The prior art discloses a portable closet having a collapsible frame and a cover that is draped over the collapsible frame. The prior art discloses a box, a collapsible frame and a shroud for defining a portable closet. The prior art additionally discloses a variety of closets with a collapsible frame and a shroud.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a closet that has a pair of lateral walls that are collapsible thereby facilitating the closet to be positionable in a collapsed position for transporting the closet. A door is positionable between an open position and a closed position. A top wall is hingedly coupled to the closet and the top wall is foldable downwardly on the closet when the closet is positioned in the collapsed position. A bottom wall is hingedly coupled to the closet and the bottom wall is foldable upwardly on the closet when the closet is positioned in the collapsed position.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new closet device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 7, the collapsible closet assembly 10 generally comprises a closet 12 that has a pair of lateral walls 14. Each of the lateral walls 14 is collapsible thereby facilitating the closet 12 to be positionable in a collapsed position for transporting the closet 12. The closet 12 forms a box when the closet 12 is positioned in a deployed position for storing objects. In this way the closet 12 facilitates a deployed soldier to have closet storage for uniforms and equipment. Moreover, the closet 12 is comprised of a rigid material, such as sheet metal, plastic or other lightweight, high strength material.
The closet 12 has a front wall 16, a back wall 18, and each of the lateral walls 14 extending between the front wall 16 and the back wall 18. Each of the lateral walls 14 has a cut 20 extending along a full height of the lateral walls 14 to define a first half 22 of each of the lateral walls 14 that is hingedly coupled to a second half 24 of each of the lateral walls 14. The first half 22 and the second half 24 of each of the lateral walls 14 is folded against each other when the closet 12 is positioned in the collapsed position having the front wall 16 lying adjacent to the back wall 18. Conversely, the first half 22 and the second half 24 of each of the lateral walls 14 lie on a plane that is coplanar with each other when the closet 12 is positioned in the deployed position having the front wall 16 being spaced from the back wall 18.
The closet 12 has a top edge 26 and a bottom edge 28, and the front wall 16 has an opening 30 extending therethrough for accessing an interior of the closet 12 when the closet 12 is in the deployed position. The opening 30 has a bounding edge 31, and the bounding edge 31 has a top side 32 and a bottom side 34. A door 36 is slidably coupled to the closet 12 and the door 36 is positionable between an open position and a closed position. Moreover, the door 36 comprises a first portion 38 that is hingedly coupled to a second portion 40.
The door 36 has an upper edge 42 and a lower edge 44, and the upper edge 42 is slidably coupled to the top side 32 of the bounding edge 31 of the opening 30 in the front wall 16. Additionally, the lower edge 44 is slidably coupled to the bottom side 34 of the bounding edge 31 of the opening 30 in the front side. The first portion 38 lies against the second portion 40 when the door 36 is positioned in the open position. The first portion 38 lies on a plane that is coplanar with the second portion 40 when the door 36 is positioned in the closed position.
A top wall 46 is hingedly coupled to the closet 12 and the top wall 46 is positionable in a deployed position having the top wall 46 lying on the closet 12 when the closet 12 is in the deployed position. The top wall 46 is foldable downwardly on the closet 12 when the closet 12 is positioned in the collapsed position. The top wall 46 has a rear edge 48, a bottom surface 50 and a top surface 52, and the rear edge 48 is hingedly coupled to the top edge 26 of the closet 12 corresponding to the back wall 18 of the closet 12. The bottom surface 50 rests on the top edge 26 of the closet 12 when the top wall 46 is in the deployed position. The top surface 52 rests against the back wall 18 of the closet 12 when the top wall 46 is positioned in folded downwardly on the closet 12.
A handle 54 is coupled to the top wall 46 thereby facilitating the closet 12 to be transported. The handle 54 is positioned on the top surface 52 of the top wall 46 and the handle 54 s arch upwardly from the top surface 52 thereby facilitating the handle 54 to be gripped. A pair of hat hooks 56 is provided and each of the hat hooks 56 is pivotally coupled to the closet 12 for having a hat suspended thereon. Each of the hat hooks 56 comprises a receiver 58 that is coupled to the front wall 16 of the closet 12, and the receiver 58 is vertically oriented on the front wall 16. Each of the hat hooks 56 includes a member 60 that is rotatably positioned in the receiver 58. The member 60 has a distal end 62 with respect to the receiver 58 and the member 60 is curved upwardly between the distal end 62 and the receiver 58 such that the member 60 forms a hook.
A bottom wall 64 is hingedly coupled to the closet 12 and the bottom wall 64 is positionable in a deployed position having the bottom wall 64 lying on the closet 12 when the closet 12 is in the deployed position. The bottom wall 64 is foldable upwardly on the closet 12 when the closet 12 is positioned in the collapsed position. The bottom wall 64 has a back edge 66, a lower surface 68 and an upper surface 70, and the back edge 66 is hingedly coupled to the bottom edge 28 of the closet 12 corresponding to the back wall 18 of the closet 12. The upper surface 70 rests on the bottom edge 28 of the closet 12 when the bottom wall 64 is in the deployed position. The lower surface 68 rests against the back wall 18 of the closet 12 when the bottom wall 64 is positioned in folded upwardly on the closet 12.
A plurality of rollers 72 is each removably coupled to the bottom wall 64 to roll the closet 12 along a support surface. Each of the rollers 72 removably engages the lower surface 68 of the bottom wall 64 when the bottom wall 64 is in the deployed position. Each of the rollers 72 is removed from the lower surface 68 prior to folding the bottom wall 64 upwardly on the closet 12. Each of the rollers 72 may comprise casters or other similar type of roller. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 2, the closet 12 may be divided into a top half 74 and a bottom half 76 thereby facilitating the closet 12 to be folded into a compact cube. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 6, the door 36 may comprise a pair of hinged panels. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 7, the door 36 may comprise a bi-fold door. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 1, a closet rod 78 may be included for supporting clothes hangers.
In use, the closet 12 is positioned in collapsed position to facilitate the closet 12 to be transported. The closet 12 is positioned in the deployed position and each of the top wall 46 and the bottom wall 64 are positioned in the deployed position. In this way the closet 12 defines a box for storing objects, such as uniforms and equipment. Each of the top wall 46 and the bottom wall 64 are folded onto the closet 12 and each of the lateral walls 14 of the closed is folded to position the closet 12 in the collapsed position.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A collapsible closet assembly for facilitating a closet to be erected in any location, said assembly comprising:

a closet having a pair of lateral walls, each of said lateral walls being collapsible thereby facilitating said closet to be positionable in a collapsed position for transporting said closet, said closet forming a box when said closet is positioned in a deployed position wherein said closet is configured to store objects;

a door being slidably coupled to said closet, said door being positionable between an open position and a closed position, said door comprising a first portion being hingedly coupled to a second portion;

a top wall being hingedly coupled to said closet, said top wall being positionable in a deployed position having said top wall lying on said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said top wall being foldable downwardly on said closet when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position;

a pair of hat hooks, each of said hat hooks being pivotally coupled to said closet wherein each of said hat hooks is configured to have a hat suspended thereon; and

a bottom wall being hingedly coupled to said closet, said bottom wall being positionable in a deployed position having said bottom wall lying on said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said bottom wall being foldable upwardly on said closet when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position.

The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said closet has a front wall, a back wall, and each of said lateral walls extending between said front wall and said back wall, each of said lateral walls having a cut extending along a full height of said lateral walls to define a first half of each of said lateral walls being hingedly coupled to a second half of each of said lateral walls, said closet having a top edge and a bottom edge.

The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said first half and said second half of each of said lateral walls is folded against each other when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position having said front wall lying adjacent to said back wall, said first half and said second half of each of said lateral walls lying on a plane being coplanar with each other when said closet is positioned in said deployed position having said front wall being spaced from said back wall.

4. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said front wall has an opening extending therethrough for accessing an interior of said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said opening having a bounding edge, said bounding edge having a top side and a bottom side.

The assembly according to claim 4, further comprising said door has an upper edge and a lower edge, said upper edge being slidably coupled to said top side of said bounding edge of said opening in said front wall, said lower edge being slidably coupled to said bottom side of said bounding edge of said opening in said front side, said first portion lying against said second portion when said door is positioned in said open position, said first portion lying on a plane being coplanar with said second portion when said door is positioned in said closed position.

The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said top wall has a rear edge, a bottom surface and a top surface, said rear edge being hingedly coupled to said top edge of said closet corresponding to said back wall of said closet, said bottom surface resting on said top edge of said closet when said top wall is in said deployed position, said top surface resting against said back wall of said closet when said top wall is positioned in folded downwardly on said closet.

7. The assembly according to claim 6, further comprising a handle being coupled to said top wall thereby facilitating said closet to be transported, said handle being positioned on said top surface of said top wall, said arching upwardly from said top surface thereby facilitating said handle to be gripped.

8. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of said hat hooks comprises a receiver being coupled to said front wall of said closet, said receiver being vertically oriented on said front wall.

9. The assembly according to claim 8, wherein each of said hat hooks comprises a member being rotatably positioned in said receiver, said member having a distal end with respect to said receiver, said member being curved upwardly between said distal end and said receiver such that said member forms a hook.

10. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said bottom wall has a back edge, a lower surface and a upper surface, said back edge being hingedly coupled to said bottom edge of said closet corresponding to said back wall of said closet, said upper surface resting on said bottom edge of said closet when said bottom wall is in said deployed position, said lower surface resting against said back wall of said closet when said bottom wall is positioned in folded upwardly on said closet.

11. The assembly according to claim 10, further comprising a plurality of rollers, each of said rollers being removably coupled to said bottom wall wherein each of said rollers is configured to roll said closet along a support surface, each of said rollers removably engaging said lower surface of said bottom wall when said bottom wall is in said deployed position, said each of said rollers being removed from said lower surface prior to folding said bottom wall upwardly on said closet.

12. A collapsible closet assembly for facilitating a closet to be erected in any location, said assembly comprising:

a closet having a pair of lateral walls, each of said lateral walls being collapsible thereby facilitating said closet to be positionable in a collapsed position for transporting said closet, said closet forming a box when said closet is positioned in a deployed position wherein said closet is configured to store objects, said closet having a front wall, a back wall, and each of said lateral walls extending between said front wall and said back wall, each of said lateral walls having a cut extending along a full height of said lateral walls to define a first half of each of said lateral walls being hingedly coupled to a second half of each of said lateral walls, said first half and said second half of each of said lateral walls being folded against each other when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position having said front wall lying adjacent to said back wall, said first half and said second half of each of said lateral walls lying on a plane being coplanar with each other when said closet is positioned in said deployed position having said front wall being spaced from said back wall, said closet having a top edge and a bottom edge, said front wall having an opening extending therethrough for accessing an interior of said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said opening having a bounding edge, said bounding edge having a top side and a bottom side;

a door being slidably coupled to said closet, said door being positionable between an open position and a closed position, said door comprising a first portion being hingedly coupled to a second portion, said door having an upper edge and a lower edge, said upper edge being slidably coupled to said top side of said bounding edge of said opening in said front wall, said lower edge being slidably coupled to said bottom side of said bounding edge of said opening in said front side, said first portion lying against said second portion when said door is positioned in said open position, said first portion lying on a plane being coplanar with said second portion when said door is positioned in said closed position;

a top wall being hingedly coupled to said closet, said top wall being positionable in a deployed position having said top wall lying on said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said top wall being foldable downwardly on said closet when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position, said top wall having a rear edge, a bottom surface and a top surface, said rear edge being hingedly coupled to said top edge of said closet corresponding to said back wall of said closet, said bottom surface resting on said top edge of said closet when said top wall is in said deployed position, said top surface resting against said back wall of said closet when said top wall is positioned in folded downwardly on said closet;

a handle being coupled to said top wall thereby facilitating said closet to be transported, said handle being positioned on said top surface of said top wall, said arching upwardly from said top surface thereby facilitating said handle to be gripped;

a pair of hat hooks, each of said hat hooks being pivotally coupled to said closet wherein each of said hat hooks is configured to have a hat suspended thereon, each of said hat hooks comprising:

a receiver being coupled to said front wall of said closet, said receiver being vertically oriented on said front wall; and

a member being rotatably positioned in said receiver, said member having a distal end with respect to said receiver, said member being curved upwardly between said distal end and said receiver such that said member forms a hook;

a bottom wall being hingedly coupled to said closet, said bottom wall being positionable in a deployed position having said bottom wall lying on said closet when said closet is in said deployed position, said bottom wall being foldable upwardly on said closet when said closet is positioned in said collapsed position, said bottom wall having a back edge, a lower surface and a upper surface, said back edge being hingedly coupled to said bottom edge of said closet corresponding to said back wall of said closet, said upper surface resting on said bottom edge of said closet when said bottom wall is in said deployed position, said lower surface resting against said back wall of said closet when said bottom wall is positioned in folded upwardly on said closet; and

a plurality of rollers, each of said rollers being removably coupled to said bottom wall wherein each of said rollers is configured to roll said closet along a support surface, each of said rollers removably engaging said lower surface of said bottom wall when said bottom wall is in said deployed position, said each of said rollers being removed from said lower surface prior to folding said bottom wall upwardly on said closet.
