Abstract

The present invention is a hair stretching device which elongates kinky curly hair by using the heaviness of an attached weighted hair clip to weigh down and stretch the curly hair into a relaxed curl or straight wave pattern. The device includes a hair clip that is attached to a weight forming a weighted hair clip which uses the force of gravity to stretch the curly hair as the device weighs more than the section of hair being stretched. Furthermore, the hair clip is used to attach the device to the section of hair being stretched as the ends of the hair can be wrapped around the hair clip securing the device on the hair which prevents the device from slipping off of the hair. The device can also be attached to the hair in other ways including with an elastic band that secures the device to the hair. The device can be used as both a hair accessory and styling tool. The device is a natural way to reduce hair shrinkage, improve hair manageability and stimulate hair growth.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the benefit of the filing of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63/025,247 filed on May 15, 2020, the entire disclosure of which is expressly incorporated herein.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:

(1) Field of the Invention

The invention herein relates to a hair stretching device, and more specifically weighted hair devices that can include a metallic weighted cylinder connected to a clip, in which its mass weighs more than the weight of the hair section attached to the device. The invented device is used to exert a force on a bundle of hair by use of gravity for the purpose of naturally transforming the hair pattern of curly and kinky hair into a wavy or straight pattern.

In this method, two or more curved metal plates with ventilation cut-outs which attach to one another to form oval shaped devices are attached to a section of hair using friction and gravity to stretch the hair. This method requires the user to assemble four to six individual pieces for each section of hair being stretched which can be time consuming and complicated. This method is not user friendly and if one piece is lost or missing, the device is rendered useless. This prior art is also bulky. The prior art has no method for styling the ends of the hair which are left exposed to frizz. The prior art uses friction to attach the weighted device to the section of hair which only works if the user figures out the correct amount of hair to include in the section being stretched to be sufficient enough for the device to remain attached to the hair and not slide down off of the hair. This method is complicated and not simple or easy for the user.
Thus, the need exists for solutions to the above problems with the prior art.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Considering the problems faced by the prior art, the purpose of the present invention is to provide a more simple, easier, quicker, and more attractive device for stretching hair.
To achieve the above purpose, the present invention adopts the following solution:
A primary benefit of the present invented device is that it stretches curly hair textures with one simple and easy to use device. The user does not need to assemble the device work as there is only one part needed for each section of hair which is simple and quick to attach to the section of hair. The present invention is completely assembled and ready for use which saves the user time. The present invention uses a clip to attach the device to the section of hair and not friction. The clip provides a more secure attachment to the section of hair and gives the user several options to style the ends of the hair either around the clip or the body of the weight giving a more polished looked to the hair ends once the hair is stretched and dry.
The result of the present invention is temporary elongated curls reformed into a unique wave pattern relative to the size and shape of the user's natural curl pattern, without the complicated need to assemble multiple pieces as in the prior art. This is especially beneficial for people prefer not to waste time fumbling with gathering the separate parts as described in the prior art when they can just pick up the one single part that our device provides and have it fully functional with no extra steps needed to make it a working device.
The invention herein is a hair device, whereby the mass of the device weighs more than the section of hair to which it is attached to elongate the curl structure of curly and kinky hair. The weight of the device elongates the curl by use of gravity which can then be dried and set into a wave pattern. The invention herein is an invented weighted hair stretching device to elongate curly hair.
The invention herein is also an attractive ornamental hair accessory.
The invented device herein is generally uniformly constructed, and can include a clip attached to a solid metal form with or without an opening, generally cylinder in shape, however, can also be in the shape of a square, rectangle, or polygon. The size and mass of the invented device can vary to accommodate small or large sections of hair. The invented device utilizes the clip that is attached to the body of the weighted device to hold the device in place on the section of hair.
The invented device herein is of rigid material, generally metal, that is noncorrosive or coated to prevent corrosion from common hair care products and water. Wire forming, shaping, molding, stamping, and extruding are commonly known and frequently used manufacturing processes in metalworking capable of producing virtually any shape and form with various materials. These materials are easily capable of being a mass far greater than a section of human hair of any length, which is required to be able to transform the curvature of curly hair with this invented device.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Before explaining the disclosed embodiments of the present invention in detail it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its applications to the details of the particular arrangements shown since the invention is capable of other embodiments. Also, the terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. In the Summary above and in the Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments and in the accompanying drawings, reference is made to particular features of the invention. It is to be understood that the disclosure of the invention in this specification does not include all possible combinations of such particular features. As shown in FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 5, FIG. 8, FIG. 10, FIG. 11, and FIG. 12, a hair stretching device with a metal weight 2, wherein a clip 1 is attached to the weight 2. In this embodiment, the clip 1 is secured by spot welding, although in other embodiments, sonic welding, laser welding, screw fastening, heat pressing, cold pressing, heat pivoting, or gluing may be used. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the weight 2 is a metallic material, although other embodiments made of rigid material with a mass greater than the section of hair may be used.
As shown in FIG. 4, the device is attached to the hair 3 by wrapping the hair 3 around the clip 1 to keep the device from sliding off the hair 3.
As shown in FIG. 6 and FIG. 7, a hair stretching device with a metal weight 2, wherein a barrette clip 4 is attached to the weight 2.
As shown in FIG. 9, a hair stretching device with a metal weight 2, wherein a band 5 is attached to the weight 2. In this embodiment, the metal piece 6 is secured by spot welding, although in other embodiments, sonic welding, laser welding, screw fastening, heat pressing, cold pressing, heat pivoting, or gluing may be used. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the band 5 is made of an elastic material, although in other embodiments, rubber, aluminum, metal, rope, or string may be used. Additionally, in this embodiment, the band 5 is secured to the weight 2 with a thin metal piece 6 which is welded to the weight 2, although in other embodiments, glue as well as cloth material with thread may also be used to attach the band to the weight 2.
As shown in FIG. 11A, FIG. 11B, and FIG. 12, a hair stretching device with a metal weight with a hole 7, wherein a clip 1 is attached to the weight 7. In this embodiment, the clip 1 is secured by spot welding, although in other embodiments, sonic welding, laser welding, screw fastening, heat pressing, cold pressing, heat pivoting, or gluing may be used. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the weight 7 is a metallic material, although other embodiments made of rigid material with a mass greater than a section of hair may be used. The device may have a wall 8 having a thickness 9 and an interior 10 extending from the first end 11 to the second end 12.
While the invention has been described, disclosed, illustrated and shown in various terms of certain embodiments or modifications which it has presumed in practice, the scope of the invention is not intended to be, nor should it be deemed to be, limited thereby and such other modifications or embodiments as may be suggested by the teachings herein are particularly reserved especially as they fall within the breadth and scope of the claims here appended.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A weighted device comprising: a clip attached to a solid metal form, with or without an opening, generally cylinder in shape, wherein the clip is utilized to hold the device in place on the section of hair, and the weight of the device is adapted to apply a force on the bundle using gravity after having been clipped onto the bundle of hair and released.

2. The weighted device of claim 1, wherein the clip is mated and fixed to the top of the body of the weighted metallic cylinder.

3. The weighted device of claim 1, wherein the clip is mated and fixed to the side of the body of the weighted metallic cylinder.

4. The weighted device of claim 3, wherein the device has a hole with a wall having a thickness and an interior extending from the first end to the second end.

5. The weighted device of claim 1 and claim 3, wherein the clip is made with open and closed orientations to attach the device to the section of hair.

6. The weighted device of claim 1 and claim 3, wherein the device parts are metal.

7. The weighted device of claim 1 and claim 3, wherein the device parts are plastic.

8. A weighted device comprising: a metallic weighted cylinder and a connected band, wherein the band is attached to the weight with a metal piece which is mated and fixed to the weight; wherein the band is sufficient to attach to a bundle of hair having a length, and the weight of the device is adapted to apply a force on the bundle using gravity after having been banded onto the bundle of hair and released, whereby the device is self-supported by the band holding onto the bundle of hair.

9. The weighted device of claim 8, wherein the band is elastic, metal, plastic, string or rubber.

10. The weighted device of claim 8, wherein the metal piece is plastic, metal, string or rubber.

11. A weighted device comprising: a solid metal form, with an opening, generally cylinder in shape, wherein the weight of the device is adapted to apply a force on the bundle of hair using gravity after having been attached onto the bundle of hair and released.

12. The weighted device of claim 11, wherein the solid metal form is without an opening.

13. The weighted device of claim 11, wherein the solid metal form is attached onto the bundle of hair by use of a thin bendable material that has two small objects attached on each of its ends in a size bigger than the diameter of the hole in the metal form to keep the device from sliding off the bundle of hair.
