Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates a beverage container, and more particularly to a beverage container comprising a secure lid handle arrangement which is capable of securely retaining a pivotally movable handle on a lid body.
- A conventional container, such as a beverage container for containing water, usually comprises a container body and a lid detachably attached on the container body. The lid usually comprises a lid body and a handle piece movably mounted on the lid body for allowing a user to grab on the handle piece and carry the beverage container.
- Conventionally, the connection between the lid body and the handle piece is usually accomplished through a connecting shaft connecting the lid body and the handle piece. As such, the handle piece may have rotating or pivotal movement with respect to the lid body. A major disadvantage of this type of connection is that the connecting shaft is usually exposed to ambient environment so that it may break very easily. The existence of the connecting shaft may also affect the overall aesthetic appearance of the beverage container. Moreover, when the handle is made of metallic material, it is relatively hard to install a connecting shaft on the handle.
- Therefore, there is a need to develop a lid for a beverage container in which the handle may be securely yet easily attached on a lid body. Moreover, the overall aesthetic appearance of the container body will not be affected by the connection between the lid body and the handle.
- Certain variations of the present invention provide a beverage container comprising a secure lid handle arrangement which is capable of securely retaining a pivotally movable handle on a lid body.
- Certain variations of the present invention provide a beverage container comprising a secure lid handle arrangement which does not affect the overall appearance of the beverage container.
- Certain variations of the present invention provide a beverage container comprising a secure lid handle arrangement which allows a handle to be easily and securely attached on a lid body. However, once the handle has been attached on the lid body, it is relatively hard for a user to detach the handle from the lid body.
- In one aspect of the present invention, it provides a beverage container, comprising:
- a container body having a container cavity; and
- a lid, which comprises:
- a lid body detachably attached on the container body to selectively enclose the container cavity, the lid body having a circumferential rim surface and a first securing slot formed on the circumferential rim surface; and
- a secure lid handle arrangement, which comprises:
- a handle having a first connecting portion and a first coupling slot formed on the first connecting portion; and
- a first coupling unit, which comprises:
- a first tubular base member extended between said first securing slot of said lid body and said first coupling slot of said handle, said tubular base member having a first mounting cavity formed therein; and
- a first resilient coupler received in the first mounting cavity of the tubular base member, the first resilient coupler is arranged to possess a predetermined resilient ability for normally biasing the first tubular base member, wherein when the first resilient coupler and the first tubular base member align with the first coupling slot and the first securing slot, the first resilient coupler is arranged to push the first tubular base member into a corresponding the first securing slot or the first coupling slot so as to allow the first tubular base member to extend between the first coupling slot and the first securing slot for securely coupling the handle with the lid body in such a manner that the handle is capable of rotating with respect to the lid body while the handle is prevented from detaching therefrom.
- In another aspect of the present invention, it provides lid for a beverage container, comprising a container body having a container cavity, the lid comprising:
- a lid body detachably attached on the container body to selectively enclose the container cavity, the lid body having a circumferential rim surface and a first securing slot formed on the circumferential rim surface; and
- a secure lid handle arrangement, which comprises:
- a handle having a first connecting portion and a first coupling slot formed on the first connecting portion; and
- a first coupling unit, which comprises:
- a first tubular base member extended between the first securing slot of the lid body and the first coupling slot of the handle, the tubular base member having a first mounting cavity formed therein; and
- a first resilient coupler received in the first mounting cavity of the tubular base member, the first resilient coupler is arranged to possess a predetermined resilient ability for normally biasing the first tubular base member, wherein when the first resilient coupler and the first tubular base member align with the first coupling slot and the first securing slot, the first resilient coupler is arranged to push the first tubular base member into a corresponding the first securing slot or the first coupling slot so as to allow the first tubular base member to extend between the first coupling slot and the first securing slot for securely coupling the handle with the lid body in such a manner that the handle is capable of rotating with respect to the lid body while the handle is prevented from detaching therefrom.

- In the following descriptions, it should also be appreciated that the terms “arrange” and “set” in the following description refer to the connecting relationship in the accompanying drawings for easy understanding of the present invention. For example, the “arrange” and “set” can refer to one element directly or indirectly set or arrange on another element. Therefore, the above terms should not be an actual connection limitation of the elements of the present invention.
- It should also be appreciated that the terms “center”, “length”, “width”, “thickness”, “top”, “bottom”, “front”, “rear”, “left”, “right”, vertical”, “horizontal”, “upper”, “lower”, “interior”, and “exterior” in the following description refer to the orientation or positioning relationship in the accompanying drawings for easy understanding of the present invention without limiting the actual location or orientation of the present invention. Therefore, the above terms should not be an actual location limitation of the elements of the present invention.
- Moreover, it should be appreciated that the terms “first”, “second”, “one”, “a”, and “an” in the following description refer to “at least one” or “one or more” in the embodiment. In particular, the term “a” in one embodiment may refer to “one” while in another embodiment may refer to “more than one”. Therefore, the above terms should not be an actual numerical limitation of the elements of the present invention.
- It should be appreciated that the terms “install”, “connect”, “couple”, and “mount” in the following description refer to the connecting relationship in the accompanying drawings for easy understanding of the present invention. For example, the connection can refer to permanent connection or detachable connection. Therefore, the above terms should not be an actual connection limitation of the elements of the present invention.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 toFIG. 7 of the drawings, a beverage container according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is illustrated. The beverage container may comprise acontainer body 10 having acontainer cavity 11, and alid 20. The beverage container may be used for storing a predetermined amount of liquid, such as water, and may be carried in a portable manner. - The
lid 20 may comprise alid body 21 and a securelid handle arrangement 22. Thelid body 21 may be detachably attached on thecontainer body 10 to selectively enclose thecontainer cavity 11. Thelid body 21 may have acircumferential rim surface 213 and a first securingslot 211 formed on thecircumferential rim surface 213. - The secure
lid handle arrangement 22 may comprise ahandle 23 and afirst coupling unit 25. Thehandle 23 may have a first connectingportion 231 and afirst coupling slot 232 formed on the first connectingportion 231. - The
first coupling unit 25 may comprise a firsttubular base member 251 and a firstresilient coupler 252. The firsttubular base member 251 may extend between thefirst securing slot 211 of thelid body 21 and thefirst coupling slot 232 of thehandle 23. The firsttubular base member 251 may have a first mountingcavity 2511 formed therein. - The first
resilient coupler 252 may be received in the first mountingcavity 2511 of thetubular base member 251, and may be arranged to possess a predetermined resilient ability for normally biasing the firsttubular base member 251, wherein when the firstresilient coupler 252 and the firsttubular base member 251 align with thefirst coupling slot 232 and thefirst securing slot 211, the firstresilient coupler 252 may be arranged to push the firsttubular base member 251 into a corresponding thefirst securing slot 211 or thefirst coupling slot 232 so as to allow the firsttubular base member 251 to extend between thefirst coupling slot 232 and thefirst securing slot 211 for securely coupling thehandle 23 with thelid body 21 in such a manner that thehandle 23 may be capable of rotating with respect to thelid body 21 while thehandle 23 may be prevented from detaching therefrom. - Preferably, the first
resilient coupler 252 may partially extend in thefirst coupling slot 232 and may be arranged to push the firsttubular base member 251 into thefirst securing slot 211 so as to allow the firsttubular base member 251 to extend between thefirst coupling slot 232 and thefirst securing slot 211 for securely coupling thehandle 23 with thelid body 21. - According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the
container body 10 may be configured or made from metallic or plastic material. Thecontainer body 10 may have a generally tubular structure and thecontainer cavity 11 may be arranged to store a predetermined amount of liquid, such as water. Thecontainer body 10 may have a circular cross section when viewed from the top. - The
lid 20 may be detachably attached on thecontainer body 10 to selectively enclose thecontainer cavity 11. Thelid body 21 may also have a cross sectional shape which corresponds to that of thecontainer body 10. Thelid body 21 may further have amain portion 214 and atruncated portion 215 to form a biasingshoulder 216 as a boundary between themain portion 214 and thetruncated portion 215, wherein thecircumferential rim surface 213 of thelid body 21 may be formed as an external circumferential surface of thetruncated portion 215. - In this preferred embodiment of the present invention, the biasing
shoulder 216 may have afirst biasing surface 2161, asecond biasing surface 2162 and a limitingsurface 2163 extended between thefirst biasing surface 2161 and thesecond biasing surface 2162. As shown inFIG. 3 of the drawings, each of thefirst biasing surface 2161 and thesecond biasing surface 2162 may extend substantially vertically and along an imaginary center axis of thelid body 21. On the other hand, the limitingsurface 2163 may extend along a circumferential direction of thelid body 21. - As shown in
FIG. 4 of the drawings, thelid body 21 may further have asecond securing slot 212 formed on thecircumferential rim surface 213 at a position opposite to thefirst securing slot 211. Thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 may be formed adjacent to thefirst biasing surface 2161 and thesecond biasing surface 2162 respectively, and may be arranged to be connected to thehandle 23 in a manner described below. - The
handle 23 of the securehandle lid arrangement 20 may be elongated in structure and may further have a second connectingportion 241. The first connectingportion 231 and the second connectingportion 241 may constitute two end portions of theelongated handle 23, and may be coupled to thelid body 21 through thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 respectively. Thus, thehandle 23 may further have asecond coupling slot 242 formed on the second connectingportion 241. Thefirst coupling slot 232 and thesecond coupling slot 242 may be positioned corresponding to thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 respectively. - The secure lid handle
arrangement 22 may further comprise asecond coupling unit 26 which may comprise a secondtubular base member 261 and a secondresilient coupler 262. The secondtubular base member 261 may be mounted in thesecond securing slot 212 of thelid body 21. The secondtubular base member 261 may have asecond mounting cavity 2611 formed therein. Thefirst coupling unit 25 may be structurally identical to that of thesecond coupling unit 25, as shown inFIG. 5 of the drawings. - The second
resilient coupler 262 may be received in the second mountingcavity 2611 of the secondtubular base member 261. The secondresilient coupler 262 may be arranged to possess a predetermined resilient ability for normally biasing the secondtubular base member 261, wherein when the secondresilient coupler 262 aligns with thesecond coupling slot 242 while the secondtubular base member 261 aligns with thesecond securing slot 212, the secondresilient coupler 262 may be arranged to push the secondtubular base member 261 into thesecond securing slot 212 so as to securely couple thehandle 23 with thelid body 21 in such a manner that thehandle 23 is capable of rotating with respect to thelid body 21 while thehandle 23 is prevented from detaching therefrom. - Thus, the
handle 23 may be pivotally yet securely coupled to thelid body 21 through the resilient ability of the firstresilient coupler 252 and the secondresilient coupler 262. Specifically, the firstresilient coupler 252 may be configured from soft and deformable material, and may have a firstenlarged portion 2521 and a first contractedportion 2522 extended from the firstenlarged portion 2521. A diameter of the firstenlarged portion 2521 may be greater than that of the first contractedportion 2522. - According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, each of the first
enlarged portion 2521 and the first contractedportion 2522 may have a circular cross section so as to form a column structure. The firstenlarged portion 2521 may be completely accommodated in the firsttubular base member 251 while the first contractedportion 2522 may extend from the firstenlarged portion 2521 to partially expose out of the firsttubular base member 251. Thus, when the first contractedportion 2522 is pushed by an external force to deform and receive in the first mountingcavity 2511, the firstresilient coupler 252 may exert a corresponding reaction force toward the firsttubular base member 251 because the first contractedportion 2522 will try to resume to its original position. - Similarly, the second
resilient coupler 262 may also be configured from soft and deformable material, and may have a secondenlarged portion 2621 and a second contractedportion 2622 extended from the secondenlarged portion 2621. A diameter of the secondenlarged portion 2621 may be greater than that of the second contractedportion 2622. - Each of the second
enlarged portion 2621 and the second contractedportion 2622 may have a circular cross section so as to form a column structure. The secondenlarged portion 2621 may be completely accommodated in the secondtubular base member 261 while the second contractedportion 2622 may extend from the secondenlarged portion 2621 to partially expose out of the secondtubular base member 261. Again, when the second contractedportion 2622 is pushed by an external force to deform and receive in the second mountingcavity 2611, the secondresilient coupler 262 may exert a corresponding reaction force toward the secondtubular base member 261 because the second contractedportion 2622 will try to resume to its original position. - Note that a diameter of the first
tubular base member 251 may correspond to a diameter of thefirst coupling slot 232 while a diameter of the secondtubular base member 261 may correspond to a diameter of thesecond coupling slot 242. Thus, the firsttubular base member 251 may be manually pushed toward thefirst coupling slot 232 of the first connectingportion 231 of thehandle 23 so that the firsttubular base member 251 may be inserted and partially accommodated in thefirst coupling slot 232 by an external force, such as a manual force. At the same time, however, the firstresilient coupler 252 which may be received in the first mountingcavity 2511 may normally exert an urging force toward the firsttubular base member 251 in the manner described above so as to tend to push the firsttubular base member 251 away from the first connectingportion 231. - The second
tubular base member 261 may be manually pushed toward thesecond coupling slot 242 of the second connectingportion 241 of thehandle 23 so that the secondtubular base member 261 may be inserted and partially accommodated in thesecond coupling slot 242 by an external force, such as a manual force. At the same time, however, the secondresilient coupler 262 which may be received in the second mountingcavity 2611 may normally exert an urging force toward the secondtubular base member 261 in the manner described above so as tend to push the secondtubular base member 261 away from the second connectingportion 241. - From the forgoing description, one may appreciate that in order to mount the
handle 23 on thelid body 21, the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 may be manually pushed toward the first connectingportion 231 and the second connectingportion 241 and thefirst coupling unit 25 and thesecond coupling unit 26 may be temporarily deformed or squeezed. The firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 may be partially pushed into thefirst coupling slot 232 and thesecond coupling slot 242 respectively. - After that, a user of the present invention may manually move the
handle 23 until the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 align with thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 of thelid body 21. Due to the inherent resilient nature of thefirst coupling unit 25 and thesecond coupling unit 26, when the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 are moved to correspond to thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 respectively and the manual force is released, the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 may be pushed by thefirst coupling unit 25 and thesecond coupling unit 26 to move into thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212. As such, the firsttubular base member 251 may extend between thefirst securing slot 211 and thefirst coupling slot 232, while the secondtubular base member 261 may extend between thesecond securing slot 212 and thesecond coupling slot 242. This engagement may couple thehandle 23 with thelid body 21 in a pivotally movable manner, and thehandle 23 may be secured on thelid body 21 and may be prevented from being detached therefrom. - Note that a pivotal movement of the
handle 23 may be limited by thefirst biasing surface 2161, thesecond biasing surface 2162 and the limitingsurface 2163 of the biasingshoulder 216 because the pivotal movement of thehandle 23 may be restricted by thefirst biasing surface 2161, thesecond biasing surface 2162 and the limitingsurface 2163 as thehandle 23 pivotally moves with respect to thelid body 21. - Since the
first securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 may be formed on an inner surface of thehandle 23, when thehandle 23 is coupled with thelid body 21, a user of the present invention will not be able to detach thehandle 23 from thelid body 21 by exerting sideward external force to the first connectingportion 231 and/or the second connectingportion 241 of thehandle 23. Since thehandle 23 may be configured from metallic material and may be constructed not to be deformable, once thehandle 23 is coupled to thelid body 21 in a manner described above, it is very hard for a user to detach thehandle 23 from thelid body 21. This ensures secure connection between thehandle 23 and thelid body 21. - It is worth mentioning that, as a slight alternative, the orientation of the
first coupling unit 25 and thesecond coupling unit 26 may be reversed so that the firstresilient coupler 252 may be partially received in thefirst securing slot 211 and the secondresilient coupler 262 may be partially received in thesecond securing slot 212. Accordingly, the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 may be pushed to partially receive in thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 respectively. When thefirst securing slot 211 and thesecond securing slot 212 align with thefirst coupling slot 231 and thesecond coupling slot 241 respectively, the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 may be pushed into thefirst coupling slot 231 and thesecond coupling slot 241 respectively. - Referring to
FIG. 8 of the drawings, an alternative mode of the beverage container according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention is illustrated. The alternative mode is similar to the preferred embodiment as mentioned above, except the firstresilient coupler 252′ and the secondresilient coupler 262′. According to the alternative mode, each of the firstresilient coupler 252′ and the secondresilient coupler 262′ may be configured as a compression spring partially received in the first mountingcavity 2511 and the second mountingcavity 2611 for exerting a biasing force against the firsttubular base member 251 and the secondtubular base member 261 respectively. - The present invention, while illustrated and described in terms of a preferred embodiment and several alternatives, is not limited to the particular description contained in this specification. Additional alternative or equivalent components could also be used to practice the present invention.
