  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention generally relates to a random orbital sander. More specifically, the present invention relates to a sanding tool attachment to a random orbital sander in order to sand a plurality of surfaces simultaneously.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • A sander is a power tool used to smooth surfaces by abrasion with sandpaper. Sanders have a means to attach the sandpaper and a mechanism to move it rapidly contained within a housing with means to hand-hold it or fix it to a workbench. There are many different types of sanders for different purposes. Multi-purpose power tools and electric drills may have sander attachments. Often times, user may only need to sand a single surface which can be done efficiently with electric sanding tools such as random orbital sanders. Current random orbital sanders can be used for a multitude of errands from polishing a car to grinding a wall. However, there are instances where a user can sand down multiple surfaces that are near each other at once (ex; an edge grain and a face grain of adjacently positioned clapboards). This opportunity can cut down on work time significantly. Current sanders do not provide a solution for grinding orthogonal surfaces simultaneously though the tools are capable of doing so.
  • An objective of the present design is to provide the user with a sanding tool attachment that may be attached to a random orbital sander. The sanding tool attachment provides the user with a tool fastening feature so that the present invention can be attached to a random orbital sander. The sanding tool attachment also provides the user with two other fastening features so that the present invention can secure a round sanding pad and a rectangular sanding strip. More specifically, the round sanding pad, the rectangular sanding strip, and the sanding tool attachment create a pair of functional surfaces that allow the user to sand orthogonal surfaces simultaneously.
