- The disclosure and prior art relates to mat devices and more particularly pertains to a new mat device for protecting a floor from spillage when an infant is being fed in an infant high chair.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a first mat that is positionable beneath an infant high chair. The first mat has a pair of slots to accommodate legs of the infant high chair. A second mat is coupled to the first mat such that the second mat is positioned beneath the infant high chair when the first mat is positioned beneath the infant high chair. The second mat is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit food spilled thereon from contacting a support surface. The second mat has a pair of slots therein to accommodate legs of the infant high chair.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a top view of an infant feeding mat assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 ofFIG. 2 of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new mat device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the infantfeeding mat assembly 10 generally comprises afirst mat 12 that is positionable on asupport surface 14, such as a floor in a room of a house or the like. Thefirst mat 12 is positioned beneath an infanthigh chair 16 that is positioned in the room of the house. Thefirst mat 12 has a pair ofslots 18 therein and each of theslots 18 accommodateslegs 20 of the infanthigh chair 16. Moreover, thefirst mat 12 is comprised of a deformable material such that thefirst mat 12 is inhibited from scratching thesupport surface 14. - The
first mat 12 has atop surface 22, abottom surface 24 and aperimeter edge 26 extending therebetween, and theperimeter edge 26 has afront side 28 and a back side 30. Each of theslots 18 extends from thefront side 28 toward the back side 30. Moreover, each of theslots 18 is spaced in opposite directions from a centerline of thefirst mat 12 to define a central flap 32 that is positioned between a pair of outward flaps 34. Thus, the central flap 32 is positioned beneath the infanthigh chair 16 when thelegs 20 of the infanthigh chair 16 are positioned in theslots 18. Thefirst mat 12 may have a length and a width of approximately 36.0 inches, and the central flap 32 and each of the outward flaps 34 may have a width of approximately 12.0 inches. - A second mat 35 is provided and the second mat 35 is coupled to the
first mat 12. In this way the second mat 35 is positioned beneath the infanthigh chair 16 and extends forwardly from the infanthigh chair 16 when thefirst mat 12 is positioned on thesupport surface 14. Moreover, the second mat 35 is exposed when thefirst mat 12 is positioned on thesupport surface 14. The second mat 35 is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit food spilled thereon from contacting thesupport surface 14. - The second mat 35 has a pair of slots 36 therein and each of the slots 36 in the second mat 35 is aligned with a respective one of the
slots 18 in thefirst mat 12. Thus, each of the slots 36 in the second mat 35 accommodateslegs 20 of the infanthigh chair 16. The second mat 35 has an upper surface 38, a lower surface 40 and an exterior edge 42 extending therebetween. The lower surface 40 is bonded to thetop surface 22 of thefirst mat 12 and the exterior edge 42 is aligned with and is coextensive with theperimeter edge 26 of thefirst mat 12. - The exterior edge 42 has a forward side 44 and a rearward side 46. Each of the
slots 18 in the second mat 35 extends from the forward side 44 toward the rearward side 46. Each of thesecond slots 18 defines a central flap 48 that is positioned between a pair of outward flaps 50. The central flap 48 of the second mat 35 is aligned with the central flap 32 of thefirst mat 12. Additionally, each of the outward flaps 50 of the second mat 35 is aligned with a respective one of the outward flaps 34 of thefirst mat 12. - In use, the
first mat 12 is placed on thesupport surface 14 such that the second mat 35 is exposed. Thelegs 20 of the infanthigh chair 16 are positioned in respective ones of theslots 18,36 in each of the first 12 and second 34 mats. In this way the central flap 48 of the second mat 35 is positioned beneath the infanthigh chair 16 and each of the outward flaps 50 of the second mat 35 is positioned on opposite sides of the infanthigh chair 16. Additionally, the second mat 35 extends forwardly from the infanthigh chair 16. In this way the second mat 35 captures food and liquids that are spilled when an infant in the infanthigh chair 16 is being fed. Thus, thesupport surface 14 is protected from stains or the like that would otherwise result from the food and liquids being spilled on thesupport surface 14. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
