Description
- The invention relates to chairs, particularly to headrests of office chairs.
- Some office chairs are provided with a headrest for more comfortable sitting. However, different users' bodies are various, headrests should be adjustable to satisfy various requirements. On the other hand, to shrink packing volume of a chair, a headrest and a back are usually disassembled to be packed. That is, a user needs to assemble such a headrest to a back. Conventional headrests are fastened by screws. Proper tools are needed. For some users, this is not easy. It is an issue to be solved.
- An object of the invention is to provide a quick release device for a headrest of an office chair, which can rapidly and firmly assemble or disassemble a headrest to a back.
- To accomplish the above object, the invention provides a device for connecting a headrest to a back. The device includes a headrest assembly and a fixing seat. The headrest assembly includes a headrest, a support and an adjusting seat. The headrest is pivotedly connected to the support. The support is slidably connected to the adjusting seat. An inner base of the adjusting seat has two rails. Each rail is extended with an inserting wing. Tops of the rails are formed with a blocker. A wall is formed between the rails. The fixing seat has a connecting side facing the adjusting seat. The connecting side has a recess with a closed bottom edge. Two opposite edges of the recess is formed with troughs for receiving the inserting wings. A flexible arm is formed between the two troughs. The flexible arm is stopped by the wall.

FIG. 1 is an exploded view of the invention; -
FIG. 2 is a schematic view of the invention used in an office chair; -
FIG. 3 is an exploded view of the inner base and the fixing seat of the invention; -
FIG. 4 is a schematic view of the inner base and the fixing seat with partial cross-section. -
FIG. 5 is a cross-section view of the inner base and the fixing seat being not fixed; and -
FIG. 6 is a cross-section view of the inner base and the fixing seat having been fixed. - The quick release device for a headrest of office chair of the invention includes a
headrest assembly 10 and afixing seat 20. Theheadrest assembly 10 includes aheadrest 11, asupport 12 and an adjustingseat 13. Theheadrest 11 is pivotedly connected to thesupport 12. Thesupport 12 is slidably connected to the adjustingseat 13. Aninner base 131 of the adjustingseat 13 is formed with two parallelvertical rails 1310. Each of the tworails 1310 is outward extended with aninserting wing 1311. Tops of the tworails 1310 are formed with ahorizontal blocker 1312 at a top side of theinner base 131. A width of theblocker 1312 is greater than an overall width of the tworails 1310. A middle of theblocker 1312 is formed with anotch 1313. Awall 1314 with a trapezoidal cross-section is formed between the tworails 1310. A top side of thewall 1314 is aflat surface 1315 which is flush with those of therails 1310. - The
fixing seat 20 has a connectingside 21 facing the adjustingseat 13. The connecting side has arecess 22 with a closed bottom edge. Each of two opposite edges of therecess 22 is formed with atrough 23 for slidably receiving theinserting wings 1311 of the tworails 1310. Thefixing seat 20 is formed with twofixing holes 24 for being fixed onto achairback 30. In this embodiment, thefixing holes 24 are located at junctions between therecess 22 and twoside bars 25. Thefixing hole 24 is formed with astep 241. Aflexible arm 26 which downward aslant protrudes toward the adjustingseat 13 is formed between the twofixing holes 24. Two lateral sides and a bottom side of theflexible arm 26 are formed with a U-shapedslot 261 for providing flexibility to theflexible arm 26. The back of theflexible arm 26 is formed with anindent 262 to shrink thickness of theflexible arm 26. Theflexible arm 26 can be stopped by thewall 1314 to form positioning. - When the adjusting
seat 13 is assembled with thefixing seat 20 through theinner base 131, theinserting wings 1311 are separately inserted into thetroughs 23 of thefixing seat 20. The closed bottom edge of therecess 22 and theblocker 1312 of theinner base 131 form a bottom stopper and a top stopper, respectively. - Please refer to
FIG. 5 , which shows theinner base 131 and thefixing seat 20 in a status of theflexible arm 26 being not stopped by thewall 1314. When theinner base 131 is being pressed down, thewall 1314 will press theflexible arm 26 to make it retracted and thewall 1314 will pass theflexible arm 26. When thewall 1314 has passed theflexible arm 26, theflexible arm 26 will restore to be stopped by thewall 1314 as shown inFIG. 6 . When disassembling, a rod can be inserted into thenotch 1313 to press theflexible arm 26 to release the holding status. - It is noted that the
fixing seat 20 is mounted on achairback 30 in advance, all a user needs to do for fixing theheadrest assembly 10 is to insert the adjustingseat 13 into thefixing seat 20. This requires no tools, so it can be rapid and convenient. - It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the above embodiment has been described by way of example only and not in any limitative sense, and that various alterations and modifications are possible without departure from the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
