FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new sock device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 7 , the shin protectingsock assembly 10 generally comprises asock 12 is worn on a user's lower leg and foot during athletic activities. Thesock 12 has apocket 14 integrated therein and thesock 12 has afoot portion 16 and aleg portion 18. Thefoot portion 16 includes atoe 20, aheel 22 and a sole 24 extending between thetoe 20 and theheel 22. Theleg portion 18 has atop end 26 that is open for insertably receiving the user's foot and lower leg. The sole 24 is comprised of an adhesive material to engage the user's foot when thesock 12 is worn thereby reducing slippage of the user's foot in thesock 12 during athletic activities. - The
leg portion 18 has afirst grip section 28 extending around an entire circumference of theleg portion 18. Thefirst grip section 28 is comprised of an adhesive material. In this way thefirst grip section 28 engages the user's lower leg when thesock 12 is worn thereby inhibiting theleg portion 18 from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. Thefirst grip section 28 is positioned adjacent to thefoot portion 16. - The
leg portion 18 has asecond grip section 30 extending around an entire circumference of theleg portion 18. Thesecond grip section 30 is comprised of an adhesive material. In this way thesecond grip section 30 engages the user's lower leg when thesock 12 is worn thereby inhibiting theleg portion 18 from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. Thesecond grip section 30 is positioned adjacent to thetop end 26 of theleg portion 18. Additionally, the adhesive material of which the sole 24, thefirst grip section 28 and thesecond grip section 30 are comprised may include, but not be limited to, a tacky rubber substance, a multiple use medical adhesive material or any other type of non-residual material that can weakly and releasably adhere to human skin. - The
pocket 14 is positioned between thefirst grip section 28 and thesecond grip section 30. Thepocket 14 has anupper side 32 and theupper side 32 is open to access an interior of thepocket 14. Thesock 12 is wearable in a first condition having thepocket 14 being exposed on theleg portion 18. Thesock 12 is wearable in a second condition having thepocket 14 being positioned between theleg portion 18 and the user's lower leg when thesock 12 is worn. - A
shield 34 is provided and theshield 34 is insertable into thepocket 14 when thesock 12 is worn. In this way theshield 34 is positioned over the user's shin when thesock 12 is worn. Theshield 34 is comprised of a rigid material to protect the user's shin from impact. Theshield 34 is insertable into theupper side 32 of thepocket 14. Theshield 34 has afirst surface 36 and thefirst surface 36 is concavely arcuate to conform to curvature of the user's shin thereby enhancing comfort for the user. Theshield 34 may be a soccer shin guard or other similar athletic guard. - In use, the
sock 12 is worn when the user is participating in an athletic activity, such as soccer, that involves the potential to be struck in the shin. Each of the sole 24, thefirst grip section 28 and thesecond grip section 30 sticks to the user's foot or leg. In this way slippage of the foot within thesock 12 is minimized and thepocket 14 is retained at the preferred location of being on the user's shin. Theshield 34 is inserted into theupper side 32 of thepocket 14 thereby protecting the user's shin from impact. Moreover, thesock 12 can be worn in either of the first condition or the second condition, depending on the user's preference. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
