Abstract
An upper body exercise device for exercising in a cab of a semitruck includes a base that is configured to position on a floor of the cab of the semitruck. A frame is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from the base. A pullup bar is coupled to the frame proximate to a top of the frame. The pullup bar is configured to be grasped in hands of a user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise. Each of a pair of handles is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from a respective opposing side of the frame. The pair of handles is positioned between the base and the top of the frame so that each handle is configured to be grasped in a respective hand of the user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise.

- The disclosure and prior art relates to exercise devices and more particularly pertains to a new exercise device for exercising in a cab of a semitruck.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a base that is configured to position on a floor of a cab of the semitruck. A frame is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from the base. A pullup bar is coupled to the frame proximate to a top of the frame. The pullup bar is configured to be grasped in hands of a user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise. Each of a pair of handles is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from a respective opposing side of the frame. The pair of handles is positioned between the base and the top of the frame so that each handle is configured to be grasped in a respective hand of the user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new exercise device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the upperbody exercise device 10 generally comprises abase 12 that is configured to position on a floor of a cab of a semitruck. Aframe 14 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from thebase 12. Apullup bar 16, which is tubular, is coupled to theframe 14 proximate to atop 18 of theframe 14. Thepullup bar 16 is configured to be grasped in hands of a user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise, such as a pull up exercise and a chin up exercise. Many semitruck drivers are away from home for long stretches of time and do not have routine access to exercise facilities or exercise equipment. Thedevice 10, through the provision of thepullup bar 16 and other features to be described below, fulfills the requirements for upper body exercise of semitruck drivers. - Each of a pair of
bends 20 is positioned in thepullup bar 16 proximate to a respectiveopposing endpoint 22 of thepullup bar 16 to define a respectiveterminal segment 24 of thepullup bar 16. The respectiveterminal segment 24 extends transversely from acentral segment 26 of thepullup bar 16 toward thebase 12 so that theterminal segments 24 are optimally oriented to perform a pull up. Thecentral segment 26 optimally oriented to perform a chin up. - Each of a pair of
pullup grips 28 is coupled to a respectiveterminal segment 24 of thepullup bar 16. Thepullup grip 28 is configured to enhance a grasp of the respective hand that is positioned on therespective terminal segment 24. - Each of a pair of
handles 30 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from a respectiveopposing side 32 of theframe 14. The pair ofhandles 30 is positioned between thebase 12 and thetop 18 of theframe 14 so that eachhandle 30 is configured to be grasped in a respective hand of the user, positioning the user to perform an associated upper body exercise, such as a dip. - The
frame 14 and thebase 12 together comprises a pair offirst tubes 34 and a pair ofsecond tubes 36. Eachfirst tube 34 has a lower segment 38, avertical segment 40, and anupper segment 42. The lower segment 38 is configured to position on the floor of the cab so that thevertical segment 40 extends perpendicularly from the floor and theupper segment 42 extends perpendicularly from thevertical segment 40 and parallelly to the lower segment 38 to define arespective handle 30. Each of a pair ofhandle grips 44 that is coupled to arespective handle 30 is configured to enhance a grasp of the respective hand that is positioned on arespective handle 30. Thevertical segment 40 and each of the lower segment 38 and theupper segment 42 define afirst intersection 46, which are arcuate. - Each
second tube 36 has alower section 48, avertical section 50, and anupper section 52. Thelower section 48 is configured to position on the floor of the cab so that thevertical section 50 extends perpendicularly from the floor and theupper section 52 extends perpendicularly from thevertical section 50 and parallelly to thelower section 48. Thevertical section 50 is dimensionally taller than thevertical segment 40. Eachvertical section 50 is coupled longitudinally to an associatedvertical segment 40. - The
pullup bar 16 is coupled to theupper sections 52 distal from thevertical sections 50 so that thepullup bar 16 is configured to be grasped in the hands of the user, positioning the user to perform the associated upper body exercise. Thevertical section 50 and each of thelower section 48 and theupper section 52 define asecond intersection 54, which are arcuate. - Each of a pair plurality of
crossbars 56, which are tubular, is coupled to and extends between a respectivevertical section 50 and an associatedvertical segment 40. The plurality ofcrossbars 56 comprises fourcrossbars 56 that are positioned two apiece between each respectivevertical section 50 and the associatedvertical segment 40. - A
crossbeam 58 is coupled to and extends between the pair offirst tubes 34 and the pair ofsecond tubes 36 so that thecrossbeam 58 is positioned to stabilize the pair offirst tubes 34 and the pair ofsecond tubes 36. Thecrossbeam 58 is padded so that thecrossbeam 58 is configured to stabilize feet of the user while performing an associated upper body exercise, such as a curl up and a sit up. - The
crossbeam 58, which is tubular, comprises acenter section 60 and opposingterminal sections 62. Eachopposing terminal section 62 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from a respectiveopposing terminus 64 of thecenter section 60. Eachopposing terminal section 62 is positioned between and is coupled to a respectivevertical section 50 and an associatedvertical segment 40. Theopposing terminal sections 62 extends toward thetop 18 of theframe 14. Thecenter section 60 and each of theopposing terminal sections 62 define athird intersection 66, which are arcuate. - A set of four
feet 68 is coupled singly to each lower segment 38, distal from an associatedvertical segment 40, and eachlower section 48, distal from an associatedvertical section 50. The set of fourfeet 68 is configured to stabilize theframe 14 on the floor of the cab. - In use, the
device 10 is positioned in the cab of the semitruck. Thepullup bar 16 and handles 30, and thecrossbeam 58 are configured to perform a variety of upper body exercises. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (14)
1. An upper body exercise device comprising:
a base configured for positioning on a floor of a cab of a semitruck;
a frame coupled to and extending perpendicularly from the base;
a pullup bar coupled to the frame proximate to a top of the frame wherein the pullup bar is configured for grasping in hands of a user positioning the user for performing an associated upper body exercise; and
a pair of handles, each handle being coupled to and extending perpendicularly from a respective opposing side of the frame, the pair of handles being positioned between the base and the top of the frame wherein each handle is configured for grasping in a respective hand of the user positioning the user for performing an associated upper body exercise.
2. The exercise device of claim 1 , further including a pair of bends positioned in the pullup bar, each bend being positioned proximate to a respective opposing endpoint of the pullup bar defining a respective terminal of the pullup bar, the respective terminal extending transversely from a central segment of the pullup bar toward the base.
3. The exercise device of claim 2 , further including a pair of pullup grips, each pullup grip being coupled to a respective terminal segment of the pullup bar wherein the pullup grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of the respective hand positioned on the respective terminal segment.
4. The exercise device of claim 1 , further including the frame and the base together comprising:
a pair of first tubes, each first tube having a lower segment, a vertical segment, and an upper segment wherein the lower segment is configured for positioning on the floor of the cab such that the vertical segment extends perpendicularly from the floor and the upper segment extends perpendicularly from the vertical segment and parallelly to the lower segment defining a respective handle;
a pair of second tubes, each second tube having a lower section, a vertical section, and an upper section wherein the lower section is configured for positioning on the floor of the cab such that the vertical section extends perpendicularly from the floor and the upper section extends perpendicularly from the vertical section and parallelly to the lower section, the vertical section being dimensionally taller than the vertical segment, each vertical section being coupled longitudinally to an associated vertical segment, the pullup bar being coupled to the upper sections distal from the vertical sections wherein the pullup bar is configured for grasping in the hands of the user positioning the user for performing the associated upper body exercise; and
a crossbeam coupled to and extending between the pair of first tubes and the pair of second tubes such that the crossbeam is positioned for stabilizing the pair of first tubes and the pair of second tubes.
5. The exercise device of claim 4 , further including a pair of handle grips, each handle grip being coupled to a respective handle wherein the handle grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of the respective hand positioned on the respective handle.
6. The exercise device of claim 4 , further including the crossbeam comprising a center section and opposing terminal sections, each opposing terminal section being coupled to and extending perpendicularly from a respective opposing terminus of the center section, each opposing terminal section being positioned between and coupled to a respective vertical section and an associated vertical segment.
7. The exercise device of claim 6 , further comprising:
the vertical segment and each of the lower segment and the upper segment defining a first intersection, the first intersections being arcuate;
the vertical section and each of the lower section and the upper section defining a second intersection, the second intersections being arcuate; and
the center section and each of the opposing terminal sections defining a third intersection, the third intersections being arcuate.
8. The exercise device of claim 6 , further including the opposing terminal sections extending toward the top of the frame.
9. The exercise device of claim 4 , further including a plurality of crossbars, each crossbar being coupled to and extending between a respective vertical section and an associated vertical segment.
10. The exercise device of claim 9 , further including the plurality of crossbars comprising four crossbars positioned two apiece between each respective vertical section and the associated vertical segment
11. The exercise device of claim 9 , further including the pullup bar, the crossbars, and the crossbeam being tubular.
12. The exercise device of claim 4 , further including a set of four feet, the feet being coupled singly to each lower segment, distal from an associated vertical segment, and each lower section, distal from an associated vertical section, wherein the set of four feet is configured for stabilizing the frame on the floor of the cab.
13. The exercise device of claim 4 , further including the crossbeam being padded wherein the crossbeam is configured for stabilizing feet of the user while performing an associated upper body exercise.
14. An upper body exercise device comprising:
a base configured for positioning on a floor of a cab of a semitruck;
a frame coupled to and extending perpendicularly from the base;
a pullup bar coupled to the frame proximate to a top of the frame wherein the pullup bar is configured for grasping in hands of a user positioning the user for performing an associated upper body exercise, the pullup bar being tubular;
a pair of bends positioned in the pullup bar, each bend being positioned proximate to a respective opposing endpoint of the pullup bar defining a respective terminal of the pullup bar, the respective terminal extending transversely from a central segment of the pullup bar toward the base;
a pair of pullup grips, each pullup grip being coupled to a respective terminal segment of the pullup bar wherein the pullup grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of the respective hand positioned on the respective terminal segment;
a pair of handles, each handle being coupled to and extending perpendicularly from a respective opposing side of the frame, the pair of handles being positioned between the base and the top of the frame wherein each handle is configured for grasping in a respective hand of the user positioning the user for performing an associated upper body exercise;
the frame and the base together comprising:
a pair of first tubes, each first tube having a lower segment, a vertical segment, and an upper segment wherein the lower segment is configured for positioning on the floor of the cab such that the vertical segment extends perpendicularly from the floor and the upper segment extends perpendicularly from the vertical segment and parallelly to the lower segment defining a respective handle, the vertical segment and each of the lower segment and the upper segment defining a first intersection, the first intersections being arcuate,
a pair of handle grips, each handle grip being coupled to a respective handle wherein the handle grip is configured for enhancing a grasp of the respective hand positioned on the respective handle,
a pair of second tubes, each second tube having a lower section, a vertical section, and an upper section wherein the lower section is configured for positioning on the floor of the cab such that the vertical section extends perpendicularly from the floor and the upper section extends perpendicularly from the vertical section and parallelly to the lower section, the vertical section being dimensionally taller than the vertical segment, each vertical section being coupled longitudinally to an associated vertical segment, the pullup bar being coupled to the upper sections distal from the vertical sections wherein the pullup bar is configured for grasping in the hands of the user positioning the user for performing the associated upper body exercise, the vertical section and each of the lower section and the upper section defining a second intersection, the second intersections being arcuate,
a plurality of crossbars, each crossbar being coupled to and extending between a respective vertical section and an associated vertical segment, the plurality of crossbars comprising four crossbars positioned two apiece between each respective vertical section and the associated vertical segment, the crossbars being tubular, and
a crossbeam coupled to and extending between the pair of first tubes and the pair of second tubes such that the crossbeam is positioned for stabilizing the pair of first tubes and the pair of second tubes, the crossbeam being padded wherein the crossbeam is configured for stabilizing feet of the user while performing an associated upper body exercise, the crossbeam being tubular, the crossbeam comprising a center section and opposing terminal sections, each opposing terminal section being coupled to and extending perpendicularly from a respective opposing terminus of the center section, each opposing terminal section being positioned between and coupled to a respective vertical section and an associated vertical segment, the opposing terminal sections extending toward the top of the frame, the center section and each of the opposing terminal sections defining a third intersection, the third intersections being arcuate; and
a set of four feet, the feet being coupled singly to each lower segment, distal from an associated vertical segment, and each lower section, distal from an associated vertical section, wherein the set of four feet is configured for stabilizing the frame on the floor of the cab.
