Abstract
A wood burning heater is presented. The wood burning heater has an external box housing that has an inside, an outside, a front, a back, a first side, a second side and a bottom. On the inside of the wood burning stove is an inner fire box. The inner fire box has an opening that coincides with the front of the external box housing and a blower device that extends from the external housing box.
Description
- The present invention relates generally to wood burning heaters, and more particularly to a wood burning heaters with blowers.
- Outside wood-burning furnaces are commonly used throughout the United States, Canada and other countries in rural areas where there is an abundant supply of wood. The furnaces are used to heat homes, shops, barns, garages, swimming pools, hot tubs, clothes dryers, hot water heaters, grain dryers and other buildings and devices.
- Since the furnaces are typically located outside the home, they avoid the need to carry firewood into the home or remove ashes from the home. They also avoid the sooty messes in the home that sometimes occur with wood burning furnaces, avoid obnoxious smells and possibly dangerous gases that occasionally come from wood-burning furnaces, and avoid annoying insects that may be brought into the home with firewood. They also avoid the possibility of damaging fires to homes.
- Outside wood-burning furnaces are sometimes housed in small utility buildings or can include shielding to protect the furnaces from the elements. They may also be located inside other buildings such as barns or garages.
- Although outside wood-burning furnaces have been in use for many years, the furnaces leave much to be desired in the terms of performance, convenience, appearance and cost. There is a need for an improved outside wood-burning furnace having improved performance and reliability and which can be manufactured by modern manufacturing methods.
- An outside wood-burning furnace is needed which is safe and convenient to operate and which strikes a good balance between cost, efficiency, and cleaning convenience. Such a furnace also needs to be attractive from all points of view.
-
FIG. 1 is a frontal view of an exemplary wood burning heater. -
FIG. 2 is a rear view of an exemplary wood burning heater. - Reference will now be made in detail to the present preferred embodiments, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. All terms in the plural shall also be taken as singular and vice-versa. Further, any reference to he shall also be applicable to she and vice-versa.
- Referring now to
FIG. 1 , a frontal view of an exemplary wood burning heater is presented. The wood burningheater 100 is used to provide heat and aura to an environment. - The wood burning
heater 100 has anexternal box 102. Theexternal box 102 provides a cabinet or outer shell. Theexternal box 102 normally is insulated with flame retardant or resistant insulation such that theexternal box 102 does not have an external temperature that will cause a fire or a severe burn. - The
external box 102 has aninside 104, outside 106, front 108,back 110, afirst side 112, asecond side 114, and abottom 116. Theinside 104 of theexternal box 102 has ainner fire box 118. Theinner fire box 118 is insulated and flame resistant or retardant. Awood holder 120 is placed in theinner fire box 118 to holdwood 122. Thewood 122 is placed on awood holder 120. Afire 128 is started under thewood holder 120, to ignite thewood 122. Thewood 122 can be hardwood of any kind such as oak, maple, etc. or may be a gas log which is coupled to a gas feed, not shown. - The
inner fire box 118 may also have adoor 124 that can prevent embers from leaving theinner fire box 118 to help prevent starting a fire and to prevent embers coming in contact with those people and animals. - A
venting pipe 126 is coupled through theexternal box 102 into theinner box 118 to allow the carbon dioxide and smoke to depart thewood burning heater 100 without filling the room. - The wood burning
heater 100 also has afan 130 installed. Thefan 130 brings air into theinner fire box 118 to allow more air access for the flame, thus the flame will burn hotter. - The wood burning
heater 100 may be placed on a trailer 132. When thewood burning heater 100 is placed on the trailer 132, thewood burning heater 100 is mobile and may moved easily to other location. The wood burningheater 100 may also have other means of portability, such as, wheels, ski blades, rollers, etc. The wood burningheater 100 may be placed in a pick-up truck, the pick-up truck has a bed which accommodates thewood burning heater 100. - Turning now to
FIG. 2 , aback 110 view of the exemplarywood burning heater 100 is shown. The wood burningheater 100 has anexternal box 102. Theexternal box 102 has aninner box 118 andback 110. Theback 110 is fully enclosed for theexternal box 102. - The
back 110 of theexternal box 100 has ablower apparatus 210. Theblower apparatus 210 is useful for providing moving air into theinner fire box 118 of thewood burning heater 100. - When the
fire 128 is igniting and burning thewood 122, the CO2 and the smoke are expelled through theventing pipe 126. Theblower apparatus 210 has acontrol switch 204. Thecontrol switch 204 is useful to set theblower apparatus 210 at a setting which is optimal or desirable by a user. Thecontrol switch 204 has asetting scale 206. For example, thescale 206 of thecontrol switch 204 may allow the blower apparatus to be turned off, as the current setting is shown, or may show theblower apparatus 210 to be set at a percentage of the total amount of air that theblower apparatus 210 can expel. Thecontrol switch 204 may be powered by a battery, by an electrical connection, solar powered battery, etc. Thecontrol switch 204 may be a manual thermostat, etc. - To set the
scale 206 to the desired setting is aknob 208. Theknob 208 is turned to the desired setting on thescale 206 and is easily changeable such that the air can be controlled real-time by a user. - The features described with respect to one embodiment may be applied to other embodiments or combined with or interchanged with the features of other embodiments, as appropriate, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
- Other embodiments of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art from consideration of the specification and practice of the invention disclosed herein. It is intended that the specification and examples be considered as exemplary only, with a true scope and spirit of the invention being indicated by the following claims.
