Abstract

An exercise system configured to facilitate both upper body and lower body exercise routines. The exercise system of the present invention includes a first component, a second component, a third component and a fourth component. Each of the aforementioned components of the exercise system provides a unique structure wherein the structure of each component facilitates a different technique to engage therewith. The alternate techniques of engaging with each of the components of the system facilitates a plurality of resistance exercises for users of the exercise system of the present invention. Furthermore, at least a portion of the components of the exercise system are configured so as to be operably coupled so as to provide additional techniques of engagement and as such alternate exercise routines.

  • This nonprovisional application claims priority based upon the following prior United States Provisional Patent Application entitled: One Legged Kick Squat and Apparatus, Application No. 62/784,391 filed Dec. 22, 2018, in the name of Christopher Brent Langhout which is hereby incorporated by reference for all purposes.
  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to exercise systems and components thereof, more specifically but not by way of limitation, an exercise system having components that are configured to provide alternate exercise techniques for various body parts wherein the components utilize free weights or other similar weights to provide resistance exercise.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Millions of individuals suffer from various muscular and/or skeletal issues. Whether originally caused by an injury or from a defective condition, as individuals age muscular and skeletal issues and the problems thereof will typically exacerbate. Many individuals develop problems with their lower extremities. Lower extremity issues can be a result of poor circulation, diabetes or numerous other causes. As a reduced blood flow occurs, an individuals' ability to function normally is diminished. In men, poor blood flow to the lower body results in loss of muscle tissue in the legs, which can lead to difficulties in walking.
  • Resistance exercise has been proven to provide relief of many disorders and further provide prevention. Regular resistance exercises have been shown to help control diabetes, reduce the onset of osteoporosis and many other benefits. There are numerous types of exercise equipment available that provide a user alternate types of resistance exercises. Typically, resistance exercise devices fall into two general categories that are commonly known as machine weights or free weights. The machine weights utilize stacks of weights that are operably coupled to a frame wherein the frame provides a technique to engage therewith and perform a movement. The limitation of machine weights is the lack of range of motion and that each machine can typically provide a limited number of exercises. Free weights incorporate resistance elements such as but not limited to dumbbells, bars and weights. Conventional configurations include straight bars that are operable to accommodate circular weights.
  • It is intended within the scope of the present invention to provide an exercise system and components that are operable to provide exercise of various body parts and facilitate benefits such as but not limited to improved blood flow to the legs and other extremities.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is the object of the present invention to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein a first component includes a first, second and third weight stack.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine wherein the first component includes a second weight stack that is configured to be elevated off the ground.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein a first component is configured to have the first weight stack and third weight stack releasably secured on opposing sides of the second weight stack.
  • Still another object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine that further includes a second component wherein the second component includes a lower support member and an upper support member.
  • An additional object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein the upper support member of the second component is releasably secured to the lower support member and further is perpendicular thereto.
  • Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine wherein the lower support member of the second component further includes a weight retention member distally located with respect to the upper support member.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user that further includes a third component wherein the third component includes a bar member wherein the bar member has a threaded exterior surface extending the length thereof.
  • An alternate object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine wherein the third component further includes weight retention members secured to the bar member as well as grip members that are configured to secured to the threaded exterior surface of the bar member.
  • Still a further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein the third component is configured to have weight members placed intermediate the weight retention members.
  • An additional object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine that further includes a fourth component wherein the fourth component includes a bar support member.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein the bar support member of the fourth component has a stop member secured proximate an end thereof.
  • An alternative objective of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine wherein the fourth component further includes a weight securing member releasably secured thereto.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system that includes a plurality of components operable to provide a variety of resistance exercises for the user wherein the lower support member of the second component includes apertures to facilitate the journaling of the bar member of the third component therethrough.
  • An alternate object of the present invention is to provide an exercise system configured to be utilized during a resistance exercise routine wherein the first component further includes a first stack support member and a second stack support member operable to position the first weight stack and third weight stack in a vertical orientation.
  • To the accomplishment of the above and related objects the present invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Attention is called to the fact that the drawings are illustrative only. Variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention, limited only by the scope of the claims.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Referring now to the drawings submitted herewith, wherein various elements depicted therein are not necessarily drawn to scale and wherein through the views and figures like elements are referenced with identical reference numerals, there is illustrated an exercise system 100 constructed according to the principles of the present invention.
  • An embodiment of the present invention is discussed herein with reference to the figures submitted herewith. Those skilled in the art will understand that the detailed description herein with respect to these figures is for explanatory purposes and that it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that alternative embodiments are plausible. By way of example but not by way of limitation, those having skill in the art in light of the present teachings of the present invention will recognize a plurality of alternate and suitable approaches dependent upon the needs of the particular application to implement the functionality of any given detail described herein, beyond that of the particular implementation choices in the embodiment described herein. Various modifications and embodiments are within the scope of the present invention.
  • It is to be further understood that the present invention is not limited to the particular methodology, materials, uses and applications described herein, as these may vary. Furthermore, it is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is used for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.   • Now referring to FIG. 1 submitted herewith, the third component 300 of the exercise system 100 is illustrated therein. The third component 300 further includes a bar member 310. The bar member 310 is manufactured from a durable rigid material such as but not limited to metal. The bar member 310 includes first end 311 and second end 312. It is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the bar member 310 could be manufactured in various alternate lengths. The bar member 310 has exterior surface 314 that has threads 315 formed thereon. The threads 315 are formed utilizing suitable techniques and are disposed substantially intermediate the first end 311 and second end 312. Releasably secured to the first end 311 and the second end 312 are grip members 316,318. The grip members 316, 318 are formed from a suitable material such as but not limited to metal and have mateable threads on the interior thereof so as to mateably engage with the threads 315 disposed on the exterior surface 314. The grip members 316, 318 are operable to provide a suitable surface for a user to engage the third component 300 of the exercise system 100. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that the grip members 316, 318 could be provided in alternate lengths and/or thickness. The third component 300 further includes a first retention member 325 and a second retention member 330. The first retention member 325 and a second retention member 330 are manufactured from a suitable durable material such as but not limited to metal. The first retention member 325 and a second retention member 330 are configured to mateably engage the threads 315 and traverse along the bar member 310. The first retention member 325 and a second retention member 330 are operable to retain exemplary weights 399 therebetween. In use, the first retention member 325 and a second retention member 330 are biased against opposing sides of the exemplary weights 399 and ensuing the securing of the exemplary weights 399 the grip members 316, 318 are releasably secured to the bar member 310.
  • Now referring to FIG. 2 herein, the second component 200 of the exercise system 100 is illustrated therein. The second component 200 includes upper portion 210 and lower portion 220 that are releasably secured. The upper portion 210 includes central section 211 and opposing lateral members 213,214 wherein the opposing lateral members 213,214 extend outward from the central section 211 and are perpendicular thereto. The lateral members 213, 214 are secured to central section 211 utilizing suitable durable techniques such as but not limited to welding. Central section 211 is manufactured from hollow metal tubing having an interior volume configured to mateably engage with lower portion 220. The lower portion 220 is tubular steel configured to be at least partially inserted into the interior volume of the central section 211. Central section 211 includes aperture 217 that is configured to receive pin 225 wherein pin 225 is operable to penetrate one of the apertures 230 of the lower portion 220. While not particularly illustrated herein, it should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the pin 225 would penetrate through an aperture on the opposing side visible in FIG. 2. The lower portion 220 further includes lateral apertures 240,242 that are configured to provide a technique to utilize the lower portion 220 with an alternate member such as but not limited to the bar member 310. It is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the lateral apertures 240, 242 are larger in sizes that apertures 230 and could accommodate a bar of a size such as but not limited to a one inch diameter bar. Operably coupling a bar via the lateral apertures 240,242 allows alternate movements such as but not limited to pivotal movements of the lower portion 220 during utilization of the second component 200. Distally located on the lower portion 220 from the upper portion 210 is stop member 250. Stop member 250 is manufactured from a material such as but not limited to rubber. Stop member 250 has a diameter that is greater than that of the lower portion 220 so as to provide a technique to releasably secure weights to the lower portion 220 prior to coupling with the upper portion 210.
  • Now referring in particular to FIG. 3 herein, the fourth component 400 of the exercise system 100 is illustrated therein. The fourth component 400 includes a bar member 410 wherein bar member 410 is manufactured from suitable materials such as but not limited to metal bar. The bar member 410 includes a first end 411 and a second end 412 and it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the bar member 410 could be manufactured in alternate diameters and lengths. Secured to the bar member 410 proximate first end 411 is weight stop member 420. Weight stop member 420 is secured to bar member 410 utilizing suitable durable techniques such as but not limited to welding. The weight stop member 420 is operable to have weights superposed thereon ensuing slidable engagement with the bar member 410. The fourth component 400 further includes clamp member 430. Clamp member 430 is configured to slidably engage the bar member 410 and is operable to secure any weights intermediate the clamp member 430 and the weight stop member 420.
  • Now referring in particular toe FIG. 4 herein, the first component 50 of the exercise system 100 is illustrated therein. The first component 50 includes a second weight stack 60, a first weight stack 65 and a third weight stack 70. The second weight stack 60 is centrally located and is comprised of at least one weight disk 61. The second weight stack 60 is elevated utilizing lift members 62 wherein lift members 62 are operable to elevate the second weight stack 60 above the surface on which the first component 50 is superposed. It is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the lift members 62 could vary in size and/or quantity and still achieve the desired objective herein. The first weight stack 65 and third weight stack 70 are secured to opposing sides of the second weight stack 60. The first weight stack 65 and third weight stack 70 are secured utilizing clamp members 80, 82. While clamp members 80, 82 are illustrated in a particular embodiment herein, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the clamp members 80,82 could be constructed in alternate manners and achieve the desired objective stated herein of releasably securing the first weight stack 65 and third weight stack 70 to opposing sides of the second weight stack 60.
  • The first weight stack 65 and third weight stack 70 are similarly constructed having support rods 66, 71. Support rods 66,71 are vertical in orientation having base members 67,72 that are planar in manner and manufactured from a rigid material such as but not limited to metal. The base members 67,72 are configured to have superposed thereon additional exemplary weights 59 if desired by a user. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the base members 67,72 could be manufactured in alternate shapes and sizes and further be provided in varying weights. It should be further understood within the scope of the present invention that the support rods 66,71 could be provided in alternate lengths so as to be configured to accommodate various quantities of exemplary weights 59.
  • It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the exercise system 100 and the components thereof described herein could be utilized to perform various exercise routines. More specifically but not by way of limitation upper body and lower body exercises. Furthermore it should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the various components of the exercise system 100 could be operably engaged such as but not limited to the bar member 310 and lower portion 220. Additionally, it should be understood that the exercise system 100 could be comprised of less than the components described herein, more specifically but not by way of limitation, as few as two of the components.
  • In the preceding detailed description, reference has been made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments, and certain variants thereof, have been described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that other suitable embodiments may be utilized and that logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. The description may omit certain information known to those skilled in the art. The preceding detailed description is, therefore, not intended to be limited to the specific forms set forth herein, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents, as can be reasonably included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Claims (20)

What is claimed is:
1. An exercise system comprising:
a first component, wherein the first component includes a first weight stack, a second weight stack and a third weight stack, said second weight stack being intermediate said first weight stack and said third weight stack, said second weight stack having an upper surface, said first weight stack and said third weight stack being secured to said upper surface of said second weight stack on opposing sides thereof; and
a second component, said second component having an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion and said lower portion of said second component being releasably secured, said upper portion of said second component having a central section with opposing lateral members, said opposing lateral members being perpendicular to said central section and extending outward therefrom, said lower portion of said second component having a stop member, said stop member being secured to said lower portion distal to said upper portion, wherein said stop member is configured to support weight members thereon.
2. The exercise system as recited in claim 1, wherein said first weight stack and said third weight stack further include base members, said base members further having support rods, said support rods being vertical in orientation and configured to retain additional weight members.
3. The exercise system as recited in claim 2, and further including a third component, said third component having a bar member, said bar member of said third component having a first end and a second end, said bar member of said third component having an exterior surface, said exterior surface of said bar member having threads formed thereon intermediate said first end and said second end of said bar member of said third component.
4. The exercise system as recited in claim 3, wherein said third component further includes a first grip member and a second grip member, said first grip member and said second grip member configured to mateably engage the exterior surface of said bar member of said third component.
5. The exercise system as recited in claim 4, and further including a fourth component, said fourth component having a bar member, said bar member of said fourth component having a weight stop member and a clamp member, said bar member of said fourth component configured to receive and retain weight members intermediate said weight stop member and said clamp member.
6. The exercise system as recited in claim 5, wherein said first component further includes a first clamp member and a second clamp member, said first clamp member configured to secure said first weight stack to said second weight stack, said second clamp member configured to secure said third weight stack to said second weight stack.
7. The exercise system as recited in claim 6, wherein said lower portion of said second component further includes lateral apertures, said lateral apertures being axially aligned, said lateral apertures configured to receive a bar therethrough.
8. An exercise system that is configured to facilitate both upper body and lower body exercise routines wherein the exercise system comprises:
a first component, wherein the first component includes a first weight stack, a second weight stack and a third weight stack, said second weight stack being intermediate said first weight stack and said third weight stack, said second weight stack having an upper surface, said first weight stack and said third weight stack being secured to said upper surface of said second weight stack on opposing sides thereof, said first weight stack and said third weight stack further having base members, said base members being planar in manner, said base members further having support rods, said support rods being vertical in orientation and extending upwards from said first weight stack and said second weight stack;
a second component, said second component having an upper portion and a lower portion, said lower portion of said second component having an upper end and a lower end, said upper portion and said lower portion of said second component being releasably secured, said upper portion of said second component having a central section with opposing lateral members forming a t-shape, said lower portion having a plurality of apertures configured in a vertical alignment intermediate said upper end and said lower end of said lower portion of said second component, said lower portion of said second component having a stop member, said stop member being secured to said lower portion proximate said lower end of said lower portion, wherein said stop member is configured to support weight members thereon; and
a third component, said third component having a bar member, said bar member of said third component having a first end and a second end, said bar member of said third component having an exterior surface, said exterior surface of said bar member having threads formed thereon intermediate said first end and said second end of said bar member of said third component.
9. The exercise system as recited in claim 8, and further including a fourth component, said fourth component having a bar member, said bar member of said fourth component having a first end and a second end, said bar member of said fourth component having a weight stop member and a clamp member, said clamp member being releasably secured to said bar member of said fourth component, said bar member of said fourth component configured to receive and retain weight members intermediate said weight stop member and said clamp member.
10. The exercise system as recited in claim 9, wherein said third component further includes a first retention member and a second retention member, said first retention member and said second retention member configured to mateably engage said threads of said bar member of said third component, said first retention member and said second retention member configured to bias weight members therebetween.
11. The exercise system as recited in claim 10, wherein said third component further includes a first grip member and a second grip member, said first grip member and said second grip member configured to mateably engage the exterior surface of said bar member of said third component.
12. The exercise system as recited in claim 11, wherein said second weight stack of the second component further includes at least one lift member, said at least one lift member configured to elevate the second weight stack above a surface on which the second component is superposed.
13. The exercise system as recited in claim 12, wherein said first component further includes a first clamp member and a second clamp member, said first clamp member configured to secure said first weight stack to said second weight stack, said second clamp member configured to secure said third weight stack to said second weight stack.
14. The exercise system as recited in claim 13, wherein said lower portion of said second component further includes lateral apertures, said lateral apertures being axially aligned, said lateral apertures configured to receive a bar therethrough.
15. An exercise system having a plurality of components configured to facilitate exercises for an individuals upper body and lower body wherein the exercise system comprises:
a first component, wherein the first component includes a first weight stack, a second weight stack and a third weight stack, said second weight stack being intermediate said first weight stack and said third weight stack, said second weight stack having an upper surface, said first weight stack and said third weight stack being secured to said upper surface of said second weight stack on opposing sides thereof, said first weight stack and said third weight stack further having base members, said base members being planar in manner, said base members further having support rods, said support rods being vertical in orientation and extending upwards from said first weight stack and said second weight stack;
a second component, said second component having an upper portion and a lower portion, said lower portion of said second component having an upper end and a lower end, said upper portion and said lower portion of said second component being releasably secured, said upper portion of said second component having a central section with opposing lateral members forming a t-shape, said lower portion having a plurality of apertures configured in a vertical alignment intermediate said upper end and said lower end of said lower portion of said second component, said lower portion of said second component having a stop member, said stop member being secured to said lower portion proximate said lower end of said lower portion, wherein said stop member is configured to support weight members thereon;
a third component, said third component having a bar member, said bar member of said third component having a first end and a second end, said bar member of said third component having an exterior surface, said exterior surface of said bar member having threads formed thereon intermediate said first end and said second end of said bar member of said third component; and
a fourth component, said fourth component having a bar member, said bar member of said fourth component having a first end and a second end, said bar member of said fourth component having a weight stop member and a clamp member, said clamp member being releasably secured to said bar member of said fourth component, said bar member of said fourth component configured to receive and retain weight members intermediate said weight stop member and said clamp member.
16. The exercise system as recited in claim 15, wherein said second weight stack of the second component further includes a plurality of lift members, said plurality of lift members configured to elevate the second weight stack above a surface on which the second component is superposed.
17. The exercise system as recited in claim 16, wherein said lower portion of said second component further includes lateral apertures, said lateral apertures being perpendicular to said plurality of apertures on said lower portion of said second component, said lateral apertures being axially aligned, said lateral apertures configured to receive a bar therethrough.
18. The exercise system as recited in claim 17, wherein said first component further includes a first clamp member and a second clamp member, said first clamp member configured to secure said first weight stack to said second weight stack, said second clamp member configured to secure said third weight stack to said second weight stack.
19. The exercise system as recited in claim 18, wherein said third component further includes a first grip member and a second grip member, said first grip member and said second grip member configured to mateably engage the threads disposed on the exterior surface of said bar member of said third component.
20. The exercise system as recited in claim 19, wherein said third component further includes a first retention member and a second retention member, said first retention member and said second retention member configured to mateably engage said threads of said bar member of said third component, said first retention member and said second retention member configured to bias weight members therebetween.
