Abstract

A fence post extender that comprises an expanded section of fence post extender coupled on the outside of a base post of an existing fence assembly.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (01) Field of the Invention (02) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The disclosure and prior art relates to fence extender and more particularly pertains to a new extension device for increasing a height of a fence.
  • The following is a tabulation of some prior art that presently appears relevant:
  • U.S. Patents
    Patent Number Issue Date Patentee
    U.S. Pat. No. 5,577,710 Nov. 26, 1996 George T. Kirby

    Kellie Hartman
  • While these devices fulfill their respective, particular objectives and requirements, the process of extending a fence can yet be improved.
  • There is a need to extend the height of a fence for privacy, safety, and business purpose, or a desire to modify the existing fence design.
  • A taller and steadfast fence is needed to confine a pet dog or livestock, for agro business, commercial or industrial purposes.
  • For cost effectiveness a preference is to raise the existing fence without compromise the previous post that is concreted to the ground.
  • The removal of posts on an existing fence requires more time, re-digging, graveling bottom of new hole for drainage, re-concreting, and replacement of short post for a taller one.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by a method of extending the height of a fence by coupling an expanded section of a post extender on outside of a base post of an existing fence.
  • It is object of the present embodiment to provide a new fence extension which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed. Fence Post Extender will raise the existing fence without compromise the pre-existing base post that is concreted to the ground. It will also eliminate digging, pouring gravel and concrete down into holes and concrete curing time.
  • It is further object of the present embodiment to provide a new fence extender which is of a durable and reliable construction. By coupling the fence post extender on outside of a base post of a pre existing fence will prevent water infiltration which will contribute to the fence durability.
  • The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carded out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when considerations is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective 3D view of Fence Post Extender
  • FIG. 2 is front and top view of Fence Post Extender.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 2 thereof, a new fence post extender device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 2, the fence post extender 10 generally comprises an expanded section 11 of fence post extender 10 coupled on the outside of a base post 20 of an existing fence assembly.
  • The said expanded section 11 has equidistant holes 12 away from the edge as a mean of pilot guide holes for fastener to secure the post extender 10 to existing base post 20 that supports the fence assembly.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and oblivious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of elements.

Claims (8)

1.-5. (canceled)
6. A fence post extender for extending the height of an existing fence post, comprising:
an elongated tubular member having a lower end and an upper end;
an expanded section on the lower end of the tubular member; and
a plurality of pilot guide holes passing through a wall of the expanded section, the plurality of guide holes being disposed at equal distances around the circumference of the expanded section;
wherein the expanded section has an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post, such that the expanded section fits snugly over the top of the existing fence post when the expanded section is coupled to the top of the existing fence post; and
wherein the expanded section extends along the axial length of the elongated tubular member, such that the top of the existing fence post extends a selected depth into the expanded section.
7. The fence post extender according to claim 6, wherein the plurality of pilot guide holes is three.
8. The fence post extender according to claim 6, wherein all of the pilot guide holes are located at the same axial distance from the lower end of the elongated tubular member.
9. A method of extending the height of an existing fence post, comprising:
providing an elongated tubular member having a lower end and an upper end;
creating an expanded section on the lower end of the elongated tubular member, the expanded section having an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post;
providing a plurality of pilot guide holes through a wall of the expanded section, the plurality of guide holes being disposed at equal distances around the circumference of the expanded section;
installing the expanded section over the top of the existing fence post, such that the expanded section fits snugly over the top of the existing fence post; and
securing the elongated tubular member to the existing fence post by installing fasteners though the plurality of pilot holes and into contact with the existing fence post.
10. The method according to claim 10, wherein the step of providing a plurality of pilot holes is accomplished by providing three pilot holes.
11. A method of making a fence post extender for an existing fence post, comprising:
providing an elongated tubular member having a lower end an upper end;
swaging the lower end of the elongated tubular member, so as to create an expanded section, the expanded section having an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post; and
