1 Claim. (c1. nae-e) The invention relates to a novelty holder and more especially to a container for merchandise,
particularly frozen products, for example icecream, confections, sherbets etc.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, wherein a determined quantity of a product may be conveniently held and served for individual consumption, and upon the emptying of thecontents it may be inflated for the use of said article as a balloon. this attracting children and giving amusement to the latter, and in this manner having a double purpose.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, wherein the nature of the body of the same enables the chilling of the contents when in transit or during storage ready for service, as for example frozen products, and when served the contents responds to temperature conditions, whereby the said contents will soften if exposed to heat, so that it may be more freely removed or dispensed when held in the hand ofa person, while in the packing or storing of such article it may be handled more readily and in the storing the contents may be kept frigid and hard without waste and in a sanitary condition; i A further object of the invention is'the provision of an article of this character, wherein a skinning or stripping of the body may be had by rolling it gradually upon itself to expose the contents for consumption by a person when in the hand thus freely dispensing its contents as consumed and in a sanitary manner. A still further object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, wherein in the filling of the same this may be economically carried forth with dispatch, the product being readily and easily introduced, then when filled itmay be preserved in a convenient way, as with a frozen contents the article may be stored in a freezing fluid or iced and the said contents rev frozen at will should the same become soft, while the article may be readily and easily sterilized and cleaned for sanitation.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efflcient in its purposes, neat and attractive, durable, very serviceable and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the structed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof.
Figure 3 isa view similar to Figure 1 showing the body of the article rolled or stripped for a distance of its contents.
Figure 4 is an elevation of the article inflated for use as a balloon.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail A designates generally the container, preferably made from comparatively thin rubber, although it may be made from any other suitable material impregnable to moisture and liquid as well as air and susceptible to inflation.
The container comprises a body 5, preferably of cylindrical or tubular form and of uniform crosssectional diameter throughout with a closed permanent end 8 and an opposite open end I through which is introduced the product for the filling of the body. This product may be a frozen substance 8, as for example ice cream, fruits, pops, sherbets or the like or a combination of any of the same in afrozen state, or other forms of merchandise, as for example confections.
The body 5 with its contents in the serving of the latter may be rolled or stripped upon itself as at 9, thereby exposing gradually the products within for consumption by a person when in the hand, thus freely dispensing the contents as consumed in a sanitary manner. It will be observed that the body 5 will be readily responsive to temperat'ure variations so that the contents will be affected thereby, as for example the heat from 40 the human hand when the article is held therein will cause the contents to soften and thus the latter may be more readily consumed as a free dispensing action will take place.
When the body 5 has been relieved of its conto tents then the said container may be inflated for the use of the same as a balloon by a child, the open end of the body being suitably drawn together for the closing and sealing of the same to maintain inflated condition thereof.
The body 5 is susceptible of convenient filling and in this condition is suitable for packing and air above freezing or the heat from the human hand it will immediately loosen itself from the contents, so that the body may be conveniently stripped or rolled back as the contents is eaten and thereby enabling easy consumption or dispensing of said contents.
when the body 5 is subjected to boiling water or to a freezing temperature the same will not become damaged thereby. The contents of the body will be held from dirt, dust and foreign matter, while the body will obviate contact of the contents with the hand of a person during the handling of the article either in serving or when being eaten,
What is claimed is:
As an article of manufacture of frozen confection, an extremely thin film-like freely expansible elastic tubiform body having an open mouth and a permanently closed rounded tapering bottom, a frozen edible substance filling the body and exposed through the mouth, the body and bottom being of uniform thickness throughout for permittlng penetration of heat therethrough to the substance from a hand of a holder to effect melting of the frozen substance filling the body. the body being adapted for rolling back on itself toward the bottom.
