Abstract
A luggage with anti-falling retractable handle includes a luggage body, two luggage wheels respectively mounted to two opposite lateral sides of the luggage body, and a retractable handle including two outer tubes fixedly mounted in the luggage body, two intermediate tubes respective mounted in the outer tubes and movable into and out of respective top ends of the outer tubes and two support rods respectively connected to respective bottom ends of the intermediate tubes remote from a top side of the luggage body in such a manner that when the intermediate tubes are received in the respective outer tubes, the support rods are extended out of respective opposing bottom ends of the outer tubes and the bottom side of the luggage body to stop against the floor on which the luggage wheels are supported.
Description
- The present invention relates to luggage technology and more particularly, to a luggage with anti-falling retractable handle which greatly increases the support distance between the front and back sides of the luggage body to prevent the luggage from falling down when the luggage is positioned in an erected position.
- At the bottom of the luggage, wheels are installed so that the luggage can be easily pushed or pulled by the user. At the present, most luggage wheels are small diameter wheels to avoid increasing the overall size of the luggage. However, when moving on an uneven road surface (such as cracked or gravel ground), small diameter wheels can get stuck. Further, when carrying a luggage up or down stairs, the user needs to lift the luggage from stairs and to move the luggage by hand.
- When a luggage is equipped with large diameter wheels, the luggage can be conveniently moved on an uneven road surface or stairs, however, the overall size of the luggage will increase, and the support point will be close to the inner side of the luggage body, making the luggage easy to fall down and not convenient for storage.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is therefore the main object of the present invention to provide a luggage with anti-falling retractable handle, which greatly increases the support distance between the front and back sides of the luggage body to prevent the luggage from falling down when it is positioned in an erected position.
- To achieve this and other objects of the present invention, a luggage comprises a luggage body, two luggage wheels respectively mounted to two opposite lateral sides of the luggage body, and a retractable handle mounted in a back side of the luggage body. The retractable handle comprises two outer tubes fixedly mounted in the luggage body, two intermediate tubes respective mounted in the outer tubes and movable into and out of respective top ends of the outer tubes, and two support rods respectively connected to respective bottom ends of the intermediate tubes remote from the top side of the luggage body in such a manner that when the intermediate tubes are received in the respective outer tubes, the support rods are extended out of the respective opposing bottom ends of the outer tubes and the bottom side of the luggage body to stop against the floor on which the luggage wheels are supported.

FIG. 8 is a schematic rear side view of the present invention, illustrating the intermediate tubes received in the respective outer tubes and the support rods extended out of the bottom ends of the respective outer tubes and the bottom side of the luggage body. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-5 , a luggage with anti-falling retractable handle in accordance with the present invention is shown. The luggage with anti-falling retractable handle comprises a luggage body 1, twoluggage wheels 2, and aretractable handle 3 corresponding to one respectivetransverse displacement wheel 2. - The luggage body 1 consists of a
back panel 11, afront panel 12, abottom panel 13, atop panel 14 and twoopposing side panels 15. Further, the luggage body 1 comprises a giving-away surface 16 located on the junction between thebottom panel 13 and theback panel 11 and inwardly recessed toward the inside of the luggage body 1, a locatinggroove 151 located on eachside panel 15 between theback panel 11 and thebottom panel 13 near the giving-awaysurface 16, and two position-limitingholes 17 cut through the giving-away surface 16 and thetop panel 14. In this embodiment, the giving-away surface 16 is circularly arched. - The
luggage wheels 2 each comprise a comprising awheel holder 21 and atire 22 pivotally mounted on thewheel holder 21. Thewheel holder 21 is fixedly mounted the locatinggroove 151 on oneside panel 15 of the luggage body 1 such that thetire 22 peripherally and partially protrudes over the giving-away surface 16 for moving on an uneven road surface or stairs. - The
retractable handle 3 comprises twoouter tube 31, twointermediate tubes 32, twoinner tubes 33, agrip 34 and twosupport rods 35. The twoouter tubes 31 are respectively mounted in the two position-limitingholes 17 of the luggage body 1 and affixed to theback panel 11. The twointermediate tubes 32 are respectively and axially slidably mounted in theouter tubes 31. The twoinner tubes 33 are respectively and axially slidably mounted in theintermediate tube 32. Thegrip 34 is connected between respective one ends of theinner tubes 33 and disposed outside theintermediate tubes 32 and theouter tubes 31. Thus, the user can operate thegrip 34 to move theintermediate tubes 32 and theinner tubes 33 into or out of theouter tubes 31. Thesupport rods 35 are respectively connected to respective inner ends of theintermediate tubes 32 remote from thetop panel 14 of the luggage body 1. Eachouter tube 31 comprises a first locatinghole 311 and a second locatinghole 312 respectively disposed near two opposite ends thereof. Eachintermediate tube 32 comprises a locatingblock 38 fixedly mounted therein, aspring member 37 transversely mounted in the locatingblock 38, and alock pin 36 supported on thespring member 37 and transversely movable in and out of theintermediate tube 32. When theintermediate tube 32 is extended out of theouter tube 31, thelock pin 36 is engaged into the first locatinghole 311 of the respectiveouter tube 31. On the contrary, when theintermediate tube 32 is received in the respectiveouter tube 31, thelock pin 36 is engaged into the second locatinghole 312 of the respectiveouter tube 31 and thesupport rod 35 is extended out of a bottom end of the respectiveouter tube 31. - Referring to
FIG. 1 andFIGS. 5-8 , when the luggage body 1 stands on afloor 4, the user can operate thegrip 34 to move theinner tubes 33 and theintermediate tubes 32 inside the respectiveouter tubes 31. At this time, thelock pins 36 are moved out of the respective first locatingholes 311 and engaged into the respective second locatingholes 312. When thelock pins 36 are engaged into the respective second locatingholes 312, thesupport rods 35 are respectively extended out of the bottom ends of theouter tubes 31, i.e., thesupport rods 35 are extended out of the luggage body 1 giving-awaysurface 16 and stopped against thefloor 4. Since theouter tubes 31 are affixed to theback panel 11 and thewheel holders 21 of theluggage wheels 2 are fixedly mounted in the respective locatinggrooves 151 of the luggage body 1, the distance between thesupport rods 35 and thefront panel 12 is larger than the distance between the axis of rotation of thetires 22 and thefront panel 12, prohibiting the luggage body 1 from falling down. Further, the friction force between thesupport rods 35 and thefloor 4 prevents sliding of the luggage body 1 on thefloor 4.
Claims (3)
1. A luggage, comprising a luggage body, two luggage wheels respectively mounted to two opposite lateral sides of said luggage body, and a retractable handle mounted in a back side of said luggage body, wherein:
said retractable handle comprises two outer tubes fixedly mounted in said luggage body, two intermediate tubes respective mounted in said outer tubes and movable into and out of respective top ends of said outer tubes, and two support rods respectively connected to respective bottom ends of said intermediate tubes remote from a top side of said luggage body in such a manner that when said intermediate tubes are received in the respective said outer tubes, said support rods are extended out of respective opposing bottom ends of said outer tubes and a bottom side of said luggage body to stop against the floor on which said luggage wheels are supported.

The luggage as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each said outer tube comprises a first locating hole transversely disposed near the top end thereof and a second locating hole transversely disposed near the bottom end thereof; each said intermediate tube comprises a spring-loaded lock pin transversely movable in and out of the periphery thereof for selectively engaging into the said first locating hole of the respective said outer tube where the respective said intermediate tube is extended out of the respective said outer tube or the said second locating hole of the respective said outer tube where the respective said intermediate tube is received in the respective said outer tube to extend the respective said support rod out of the bottom end of the respective said outer tube and the bottom side of said luggage body.

The luggage as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said luggage body comprises a back panel, a front panel, a bottom panel, a top panel and two opposing side panels respectively connected to one another, and a giving-away surface located on the junction between said bottom panel and said back panel and inwardly recessed toward the inside of said luggage body; said two luggage wheels are respectively mounted to said two side panels of said luggage body and partially peripherally protrude over said giving-away surface; said outer tubes of said retractable handle are affixed to said back panel of said luggage body such that the distance between said support rods of said retractable handle and said front panel of said luggage body is larger than the distance between the axis of rotation of said luggage wheels.
