- The disclosure and prior art relates to training devices and more particularly pertains to a new training device for enhancing throwing training.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a towel that is positioned on a hand during throwing training. The towel is comprised of a deformable material to capture air during throwing training thereby facilitating resistance to be imparted to the hand during throwing training. The towel has a plurality of apertures extending therethrough. Each of the apertures receives fingers on the hand thereby facilitating the towel to be retained on the hand.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a throwing training assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a front view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a front perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 7 is a back view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 8 is a back perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 8 thereof, a new training device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 8 , thethrowing training assembly 10 generally comprises atowel 12 that is selectively positioned on ahand 14 during throwing training. The throwing training may be practicing throwing a baseball and other athletic throwing motion. Thetowel 12 is comprised of a deformable material to capture air during throwing training. In this way thetowel 12 imparts resistance to thehand 14 during throwing training. - The
towel 12 has afirst surface 16, asecond surface 18 and aperipheral edge 20 extending therebetween. Theperipheral edge 20 has a firstlateral side 22, a secondlateral side 24, afront side 26 and aback side 28. Each of the firstlateral side 22 and the secondlateral side 24 angles outwardly between a point spaced from thefront side 26 and theback side 28. Thus, thetowel 12 has a trapezoidal cross-section taken along a line extending through thefirst surface 16 and thesecond surface 18. - The
towel 12 has a plurality ofapertures 30 extending through thefirst surface 16 and thesecond surface 18. Each of theapertures 30 receivesfingers 31 on thehand 14 thereby facilitating thetowel 12 to be retained on thehand 14. In this way thehand 14 is free to be positioned to simulate gripping and throwing a ball. Theapertures 30 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along thefront side 26. Thus, the narrow end of the trapezoidal shape of thetowel 12 is positioned on thehand 14 to inhibit thetowel 12 from draping downwardly along the sides of thehand 14. - A plurality of
grommets 32 is provided and each of thegrommets 32 is coupled to thetowel 12. Each of thegrommets 32 is aligned with a bounding surface 34 of an associated one of theapertures 30 to frictionally engage thefingers 31 when thefingers 31 are extended through theapertures 30. Thus, thegrommets 32 facilitate thefingers 31 to remain in theapertures 30 during throwing training. Each of thegrommets 32 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material such as rubber or the like. - In an
alternative embodiment 36 as shown inFIG. 4 , acut 38 may extend from theback side 28 toward thefront side 26 to define a pair offlaps 40 on thetowel 12. Theflaps 40 may enhance capturing air during the throwing training. In analternative embodiment 42 as shown inFIGS. 5 and 6 , a pair ofstraps 44 may each extend away from thefront side 26 of thetowel 12 and thestraps 44 may be spaced apart from each other. Thestraps 44 may be selectively matable to each other to form a closed ring of a selected diameter. Thus, thetowel 12 may be positioned around a baseball bat and any other cylindrical object for training purposes. - In an
alternative embodiment 46 as shown inFIGS. 7 and 8 , amember 50 may extend away from thefront side 26 and themember 50 may be continuous to form a closed loop. Thus, themember 50 may be positioned around the baseball bat and other cylindrical object. Additionally, themember 50 may be comprised of an elastic material to frictionally engage the baseball bat and other cylindrical object. - In use, the
fingers 31 are extended through each of theapertures 30 such that thetowel 12 is positioned on a top side of thehand 14. Throwing motions, such as pitching a baseball, are practiced while thetowel 12 is positioned on thehand 14. The throwing motion is executed such that thetowel 12 is snapped forwardly from thehand 14 at the end of the throwing motion. In this way proper pitching technique with respect to throwing and releasing a baseball is trained. Additionally, thetowel 12 captures air during the throwing motion to provide wind resistance. Thetowel 12 is selectively positioned around the baseball bat for practicing swinging the baseball bat. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
