Abstract

A throwing training assembly for enhancing throwing training includes a towel that is positioned on a hand during throwing training. The towel is comprised of a deformable material to capture air during throwing training thereby facilitating resistance to be imparted to the hand during throwing training. The towel has a plurality of apertures extending therethrough. Each of the apertures receives fingers on the hand thereby facilitating the towel to be retained on the hand.

The disclosure and prior art relates to training devices and more particularly pertains to a new training device for enhancing throwing training.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a towel that is positioned on a hand during throwing training. The towel is comprised of a deformable material to capture air during throwing training thereby facilitating resistance to be imparted to the hand during throwing training. The towel has a plurality of apertures extending therethrough. Each of the apertures receives fingers on the hand thereby facilitating the towel to be retained on the hand.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 8 thereof, a new training device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 8, the throwing training assembly 10 generally comprises a towel 12 that is selectively positioned on a hand 14 during throwing training. The throwing training may be practicing throwing a baseball and other athletic throwing motion. The towel 12 is comprised of a deformable material to capture air during throwing training. In this way the towel 12 imparts resistance to the hand 14 during throwing training.
The towel 12 has a first surface 16, a second surface 18 and a peripheral edge 20 extending therebetween. The peripheral edge 20 has a first lateral side 22, a second lateral side 24, a front side 26 and a back side 28. Each of the first lateral side 22 and the second lateral side 24 angles outwardly between a point spaced from the front side 26 and the back side 28. Thus, the towel 12 has a trapezoidal cross-section taken along a line extending through the first surface 16 and the second surface 18.
The towel 12 has a plurality of apertures 30 extending through the first surface 16 and the second surface 18. Each of the apertures 30 receives fingers 31 on the hand 14 thereby facilitating the towel 12 to be retained on the hand 14. In this way the hand 14 is free to be positioned to simulate gripping and throwing a ball. The apertures 30 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the front side 26. Thus, the narrow end of the trapezoidal shape of the towel 12 is positioned on the hand 14 to inhibit the towel 12 from draping downwardly along the sides of the hand 14.
A plurality of grommets 32 is provided and each of the grommets 32 is coupled to the towel 12. Each of the grommets 32 is aligned with a bounding surface 34 of an associated one of the apertures 30 to frictionally engage the fingers 31 when the fingers 31 are extended through the apertures 30. Thus, the grommets 32 facilitate the fingers 31 to remain in the apertures 30 during throwing training. Each of the grommets 32 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material such as rubber or the like.
In an alternative embodiment 36 as shown in FIG. 4, a cut 38 may extend from the back side 28 toward the front side 26 to define a pair of flaps 40 on the towel 12. The flaps 40 may enhance capturing air during the throwing training. In an alternative embodiment 42 as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, a pair of straps 44 may each extend away from the front side 26 of the towel 12 and the straps 44 may be spaced apart from each other. The straps 44 may be selectively matable to each other to form a closed ring of a selected diameter. Thus, the towel 12 may be positioned around a baseball bat and any other cylindrical object for training purposes.
In an alternative embodiment 46 as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, a member 50 may extend away from the front side 26 and the member 50 may be continuous to form a closed loop. Thus, the member 50 may be positioned around the baseball bat and other cylindrical object. Additionally, the member 50 may be comprised of an elastic material to frictionally engage the baseball bat and other cylindrical object.
In use, the fingers 31 are extended through each of the apertures 30 such that the towel 12 is positioned on a top side of the hand 14. Throwing motions, such as pitching a baseball, are practiced while the towel 12 is positioned on the hand 14. The throwing motion is executed such that the towel 12 is snapped forwardly from the hand 14 at the end of the throwing motion. In this way proper pitching technique with respect to throwing and releasing a baseball is trained. Additionally, the towel 12 captures air during the throwing motion to provide wind resistance. The towel 12 is selectively positioned around the baseball bat for practicing swinging the baseball bat.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A throwing training assembly being configured to be worn on a hand thereby facilitating training a throwing motion, said assembly comprising:

a towel being configured to be positioned on a hand during throwing training, said towel being comprised of a deformable material wherein said towel is configured to capture air during throwing training thereby facilitating resistance to be imparted to the hand during throwing training, said towel having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough wherein each of said apertures is configured to receive fingers on the hand thereby facilitating said towel to be retained on the hand, said towel having a first surface, a second surface and a peripheral edge extending therebetween, said peripheral edge having a first lateral side, a second lateral side, a front side and a back side, each of said first lateral side and said second lateral side angling outwardly between a point being spaced from said front side and said back side such that said towel has a trapezoidal rear section extending rearwardly from said front side wherein said towel is configured to enhance drag on the hand as the hand moves during the throwing motion.

3. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein each of said apertures extends through said first surface and said second surface, said apertures being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said front side, each of said apertures having a bounding surface.

The assembly according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of grommets, each of said grommets being coupled to said towel, each of said grommets being aligned with a bounding surface of an associated one of said apertures wherein each of said grommets is configured to frictionally engage the fingers when the fingers are extended through said apertures.

5. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein each of said grommets is comprised of a resiliently compressible material.

6. A throwing training assembly being configured to be worn on a hand thereby facilitating training a throwing motion, said assembly comprising:

a towel being configured to be positioned on a hand during throwing training, said towel being comprised of a deformable material wherein said towel is configured to capture air during throwing training thereby facilitating resistance to be imparted to the hand during throwing training, said towel having a first surface, a second surface and a peripheral edge extending therebetween, said peripheral edge having a first lateral side, a second lateral side, a front side and a back side, each of said first lateral side and said second lateral side angling outwardly between a point being spaced from said front side and said back side such that said towel has a trapezoidal rear section extending rearwardly from said front side wherein said towel is configured to enhance drag on the hand as the hand moves during the throwing motion, said towel having a plurality of apertures extending through said first surface and said second surface wherein each of said apertures is configured to receive fingers on the hand thereby facilitating said towel to be retained on the hand, each of said apertures being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said front side, each of said apertures having a bounding surface; and

a plurality of grommets, each of said grommets being coupled to said towel, each of said grommets being aligned with said bounding surface of an associated one of said apertures wherein each of said grommets is configured to frictionally engage the fingers when the fingers are extended through said apertures, each of said grommets being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein each of said grommets is configured to frictionally engage the fingers.
