Abstract

The center working of the Stroller Buddy may consist of a rigid, yet bendable corkscrew, straight, or zigzag material/plastic-bendable cord. This device may also be made of one continuous, durable material—molded plastic to further aid function. To produce the Stroller Buddy of one, continuous, unbreakable plastic will forego any additional materials or appendages. Upon each end of such device shall be held pincer-like parts and one which to encircle a grasp comfortably to belt loops or material of clothing to leave the guide's/parent's hands free to maneuver effortlessly unencumbered, while also protecting the security of the child. Accessories lending an entertaining factor may be incorporated within the child's security appendage. The accessories may be produced in the form of film animation figures, toy cellphones, watches, dolls, cars, games, light ups, or animal pals (indicating a true Stroller Buddy).

Description

    FIELD OF INVENTION
  • In the year 2010, the nation was brought to its knees by a high profile tragedy. The case involved the demise of a 4 year old child whose birthday party celebration was to be held the same week. His mother was exiting a bus transit holding packages and balloons all set for the party. With two of her free fingers, she grasped her child's hand at the crosswalk. Because her hands were full, she was unable to place a firm grip on him or his small hands. Two unknown teenagers also stood near the little boy waiting for the crossing signal, but being impatient and full of adventure as teens are deemed to be, they decided to dodge and race to the other side of the street, not waiting for the signal. The small child, seeing that perhaps it might be fun to also run ahead, escaped the feeble grasp of his mother's fingers and scampered off after the wayward teens. They made it across. The child died . . . Half of his skull completely separated from his body . . . The mother was charged and later exonerated.
  • As I heard the story of this beautiful little boy, I imagined the balloons now rising skyward, the toys brought for his fifth birthday now scattered hopelessly upon the ground. I imagined in terror the screams of his mother. I could feel the electrifying pain throughout her heart . . . and permeating her life . . . even unto her death.
  • The Stroller Buddy will save lives, prevent tense anxiety-filled moments of having to find a lost child, and even prevent the decadent, diabolical cases of kidnapping.
  • Also, in the transitional ages from 1-2, when the young are finding their mobility, increased dangers are ever present. Toddlers wander and run, not heeding to frantic commands at times and naturally engrossed in enjoying their new freedom. Furthermore, toddlers are betwixt being held, riding in a stroller, or walking beside the stroller . . . they just cannot decide! In any event, safety must be paramount for the new walkers.
  • Actually, the word “protect” is synonymous with the word “buddy”. The Stroller Buddy protects. It is a friend indeed.
  • My father, Bernard Louis Persons, who is now deceased, lived until the birth of my little girl, whom I had prayed to have for 15 years. When she was finally born, he looked upon her precious form and beauty, and called her “Buddy”. Our children are to be treasured. And thus it behooves us to take hold of every measure within our power to hold them SECURE. It is the inspiration and field of this invention. It is love and protection against loss . . . a Buddy System!
  • I watched a young man leaving the mall with his 2 year old, curly haired, blonde little girl at his side, his hands holding a large box. I recoiled in fear as I watched her race off across the parking lot, leaving her father's assistance. Luckily, I was there to race of after her, helping her back to her father's side.
  • Almost unbelievably, I noticed a lone woman stalking a toddler who had fallen behind his mother's stride. The mother was preoccupied with her other infant, the child held in her arms. I was able to call out to the mother, gaining her attention to turn around. A simple act of walking to the restroom for a diaper change could easily have turned tragic. It happens every day.
  • When a parent is juggling 2 or even 3 children, one in their arms, 2 at their side, the Stroller Buddy is the extra “hand” of safety. We only have two hands, and sometimes, our hands, reflexes, and even our eyes aren't enough.
  • SUMMARY
  • Parents and Guardians are human, capable of being distracted themselves, weighed down in thought, overwhelmed, or simply unable to hold on properly to a tiny hand. How many times have we heard this: “I just turned around for a second!”? Airports, theaters, malls, transits, buses, trains, stairs, elevators, escalators, amusement parks, and the engaged, bustling agitation of city streets all pose certain dangers for young children.
  • The Stroller Buddy remedies the needed “extra hand” as an extra Buddy to help lead them to safety. Many times, small children simply do not understand why they should be careful, remain steady, stay close to daddy, or to stay by mommy's loving side.
  • The name Stroller Buddy is only and indicative name. What it is mechanically is a Per Ambulatory Safety Connecting Device, for it will protect children of all ages . . . even well past the strolling age.
