Abstract
Description
- The subject matter relates to a camera module.
- A camera module generally comprises a substrate, an image sensor, a lens holder, and a lens barrel. The image sensor and the lens holder are fixed on the substrate. The lens barrel is received in the lens holder. The lens barrel and the lens holder are usually fixed by glue. However, the adhesion force between the lens barrel and the lens holder is not strong enough, which may cause the lens barrel to be separated from the lens holder during transport, assembling, or reliability testing, resulting in deterioration of the image quality of camera module. Improvements in the art are preferred.
- Implementations of the present technology will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the attached figures, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a diagram of a first exemplary embodiment of a camera module. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded diagram of the camera module ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an exploded diagram of a second exemplary embodiment of a camera module. -
FIG. 4 is an exploded diagram of a third exemplary embodiment of a camera module. - It will be appreciated that for simplicity and clarity of illustration, where appropriate, reference numerals have been repeated among the different figures to indicate corresponding or analogous elements. In addition, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the exemplary embodiments described herein. However, it will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that the exemplary embodiments described herein can be practiced without these specific details.
- In other instances, methods, procedures, and components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the related relevant feature being described. Also, the description is not to be considered as limiting the scope of the exemplary embodiments described herein. The drawings are not necessarily to scale and the proportions of certain parts may be exaggerated to better illustrate details and features of the present disclosure.
- One definition that applies throughout this disclosure will now be presented.
- The term “substantially” is defined to be essentially conforming to the particular dimension, shape, or other feature that the term modifies, such that the component need not be exact. For example, “substantially rectangular” means that the object resembles a rectangle, but can have one or more deviations from a true rectangle.
- The term “comprising,” when utilized, means “including, but not necessarily limited to”; it specifically indicates open-ended inclusion or membership in the so-described combination, assembly, series, and the like.

FIGS. 1-2 illustrate a first exemplary embodiment of acamera module 100. Thecamera module 100 comprises asubstrate 10, animage sensor 20, acapacitor 30, alens holder 40, and alens barrel 50. - The
substrate 10 is a circuit board. Thesubstrate 10 comprises anupper surface 12 and alower surface 14. Theupper surface 12 and thelower surface 14 are opposite to each other. In the exemplary embodiment, theupper surface 12 is parallel to thelower surface 14. Twomounting holes 16 are defined in thesubstrate 10. - The
image sensor 20 is positioned on theupper surface 12, and is electrically connected to thesubstrate 10. - The
capacitor 30 is positioned on theupper surface 12, and is electrically connected to thesubstrate 10. - The
lens holder 40 is fixed on theupper surface 12. In the exemplary embodiment, thelens holder 40 is made of plastic. Theimage sensor 20 is received in thelens holder 40. Thelens holder 40 comprises abase 42 and ahousing portion 44. Thehousing portion 44 is connected to thebase 42. - The
base 42 is substantially rectangular. Thebase 42 comprises atop surface 422 and abottom surface 424. Thetop surface 422 and thebottom surface 424 are opposite to each other. In the exemplary embodiment, thetop surface 422 is parallel to thebottom surface 424. Afirst opening 420 is defined in thebase 42. Thefirst opening 420 extends through thetop surface 422 and thebottom surface 424. Thefirst opening 420 is a rectangular. Thefirst opening 420 receives theimage sensor 20. - The
housing portion 44 is substantially cylindrical. Asecond opening 440 is defined in thehousing portion 44. Thehousing portion 44 receives thelens barrel 50. Thesecond opening 440 extends through thehousing portion 44. Thesecond opening 440 is cylindrical. Thesecond opening 440 connects with thefirst opening 420. - At least one
notch 45 is defined in thehousing portion 44. Eachnotch 45 extends radially through the sidewall of thehousing portion 44. Eachnotch 45 is defined at one end of thehousing portion 44 away from thebase 42. In the exemplary embodiment, thenotch 45 is rectangular, and does not penetrate the other end of thehousing portion 44 near thebase 42. - The
lens holder 40 also comprises twofixing portions 46. The twofixing portions 46 are positioned on opposite sides of thebase 42. A throughhole 460 is defined in the each of thefixing portions 46. The shape, the size, and the position of thethrough hole 460 may substantially correspond to the shape, the size, and the position, respectively, of themounting hole 16. - The
lens barrel 50 is made of a metallic material. Thelens barrel 50 comprises afirst portion 52 and asecond portion 54. Thefirst portion 52 and thesecond portion 54 are cylindrical. Thesecond portion 54 connects with thefirst portion 52. Thesecond portion 54 is perpendicular to thefirst portion 52. A diameter of thesecond portion 54 is smaller than a diameter of thefirst portion 52. Thesecond portion 54 is received in thesecond opening 440, and has a shape corresponding to that of thesecond opening 440. - The
camera module 100 also comprises twoscrews 60. The twoscrews 60 can lock thelens holder 40 to thesubstrate 10. - During assembly, the
lens holder 40 is fixed to thesubstrate 10 first. At this time, theimage sensor 20 and thecapacitor 30 are fixed and electrically connected to thesubstrate 10. The two throughholes 460 are aligned with the two mountingholes 16, and thescrews 60 go through the mountingholes 16 and the throughholes 460, thus, thesubstrate 10 and thelens holder 40 are fixed together. At this time, theimage sensor 20 is received in thefirst opening 420, and is located at a central position of thefirst opening 420. Glue is coated onto the periphery of thebase 42 of thesubstrate 10 to form a thirdadhesive layer 70. The thirdadhesive layer 70 surrounds thebase 42 and fills a gap between the base 42 and thesubstrate 10 for sealing between thelens holder 40 and thesubstrate 10. Then, thesecond portion 54 is placed in thesecond opening 440, and a position of thelens barrel 50 is adjusted that the center axis of thelens barrel 50 is aligned with the middle of the imaging region of theimage sensor 20. Glue is coated onto an end of thehousing portion 44 away from the base 42 to form a firstadhesive layer 80. The firstadhesive layer 80 is substantially annular. The firstadhesive layer 80 surrounds thesecond portion 54, and is adhered to thesecond portion 54. Finally, glue is infilled in eachnotch 45 to form a secondadhesive layer 90, thereby completing the assembly of thecamera module 100. The secondadhesive layer 90 is substantially stripe-shaped. In the exemplary embodiment, the secondadhesive layer 90 is connected to the firstadhesive layer 80. The secondadhesive layer 90 is perpendicular to the firstadhesive layer 80. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , acamera module 200 of a second exemplary embodiment is provided. In thecamera module 200, afirst screw thread 56 is formed on the outer surface of thesecond portion 54 of thelens barrel 50. Thefirst screw thread 56 surrounds thesecond portion 54. Asecond screw thread 442 is formed on the inner surface of thehousing portion 44. Thesecond screw thread 442 is positioned at the entire inner surface of thehousing portion 44. Thefirst screw thread 56 is screwed with thesecond screw thread 442 to fix thelens barrel 50 in thelens holder 40. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , acamera module 300 of a third exemplary embodiment is provided. In thecamera module 300, afirst screw thread 56 is formed on the outer surface of thesecond portion 54 of thelens barrel 50. Thefirst screw thread 56 surrounds thesecond portion 54. Athird screw thread 444 is formed on the inner surface of thehousing portion 44. Thethird screw thread 444 is only positioned at a portion of inner surface of thehousing portion 44. Thefirst screw thread 56 is screwed with thethird screw thread 444 to fix thelens barrel 50 in thelens holder 40. - In the
camera modules adhesive layer 90 and the firstadhesive layer 80 cooperatively enhance a bonding strength between thelens barrel 50 and thelens holder 40. In addition, the at least onenotch 45 can expand along a radial direction of thelens holder 40, when thelens holder 40 is connected to thelens barrel 50, which decreases a torsion between thelens barrel 50 and thelens holder 40. - The embodiments shown and described above are only examples. Many details are often found in the art such as the other features. Therefore, many such details are neither shown nor described. Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present technology have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the present disclosure, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in the detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of the parts within the principles of the present disclosure, up to and including the full extent established by the broad general meaning of the terms used in the claims. It will therefore be appreciated that the embodiments described above may be modified within the scope of the claims.
