Abstract

The brush stand includes a tiered base and a removable cover. The base may have two or more tiers, the next tier taller than the last, resembling a ladder. Each tier has one or more vertical slots in which makeup brushes can be placed. In tiers with multiple slots, slots are spaced from each other so that brushes are easily accessible. The height difference between the tiers will make the brushes more visible and accessible. The cover may be transparent and shields the brushes from environmental contaminants and dust.

Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the priority of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/505,869 filed on May 13, 2017.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Cosmetic/makeup brushes of many sizes are used by makeup artists and makeup wearers. People who wear cosmetics typically have several brushes since different types of brushes are used to apply the various kinds of makeup; for instance, eyeliner brushes are used to apply eye makeup and blush brushes are used to apply blusher to the cheeks.
  • Makeup users who invest in cosmetic brushes also invest in storage, such as jars or cosmetic bags, to store the brushes in. Brushes in jars are not protected from dust and are uncomfortable to reach for since they're roughly all the same height and usually crowded; they also suffer much deterioration since they're often pulled out by the bristles. Pouches are also inconvenient since a person must sort through the small opening of the clustered bag to find the brush they desire. In these pouches, bristles get damaged easily and tend to get caught in the zipper. Previously patented makeup brush holders allow contact between all of the brushes, thus enabling product transfer between the different brushes and less hygiene.
  • All brush holders/organizers either lack a cover to protect the brushes from the environment, or don't allow you to easily view, access, and separate the brushes.
  • Therefore, a need exists for a protective container that enables grasping the brush without damaging it, that shields the brushes from dust, and that allows all brushes to be organized and clearly visible.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY
  • This invention provides a protective, practical makeup-brush stand that organizes cylindrical items, such as cosmetic brushes, while shielding them from dust particles and other environmental contaminants.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • In the following description, reference will be made to the drawings attached in which:
  • FIG. 1 is an aerial view of the base of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a frontal view of the present invention (including the base and cover).
  • FIG. 3 is a side view of the present invention (including the base and cover).
  • FIG. 4 is a cross section of the side view of the present invention (including the base and cover) which includes brushes.
  • DESCRIPTION
  • The primary object of the present invention is to provide protective container for multiple cylindrical items, such as cosmetic brushes, that keeps said items preserved, visible, easy to reach, and dust-free.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide a decorative fixture which reflects the personality and tastes of the user.
  • The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing a tiered base with a translucent, dome-shaped removable cover.
  • The present invention may be made in several colors and of many substrates such as glass, acrylic, plastic, wood, etc.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, the base will be shaped as seen in FIG. 1. The base may be shaped as other figures such as a semicircle, an oval, a rectangle, or others. As shown in FIG. 2, the first tier 1 is the shortest one, behind it is the mid-height tier 2, and behind that one is the highest tier 3. Other embodiments of the present invention may have two tiers or any number of tiers; additional tiers may have one large slot like tier 3 or may have multiple slots like tiers 1 and 2.
  • According to one embodiment of the present invention, the two shortest tiers have individual slots 4 that are equally spaced from each other in which one elongated item 9 (FIG. 4) may be placed; the tallest tier has a large slot 5 (FIG. 1) in which multiple elongate items, such as brushes 10 (FIG. 4), may be placed. The large slot 5 will be made in its tier so that brushes placed in it won't be too slanted to interfere with placing the cover on the base.
  • As shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, the cover 7 will be placed on the outer edge 6 of the base. The cover will have a handle 8 on the top to enable removing it; the handle may be of different shapes or styles. The cover may be transparent and may have detailing of various types, such as carved designs to enhance the beauty.
  • To use the present invention, the cover must be removed and the elongated items are to be placed in the slots on the base. Then to protect them from their environment, the cover is to be placed on the base again. The present invention may be placed on a vanity in a makeup user's room, in a makeup artist's studio, or on any flat surface, such as a table.
  • The present invention can be produced in a manufacturing company.

Claims (3)

What is claimed is:
1. A brush stand comprising:
A tiered base and a removable cover with a handle.
2. The brush stand of claim 1 wherein:
the base can have any number of tiers; tiers are one in front of the other in ascending height (like steps in a staircase).
3. The brush stand of claim 1 wherein:
each tier in the base has either one larger slot or multiple smaller slots to hold the cylindrical objects;
slots are vertical and can be of various diameters and shapes;
in tiers that have multiple slots, slots may be equidistant from each other;
slots are spaced from each other so that adjacent cylindrical objects don't have contact with each other and so that the placement of a cylindrical object in a slot doesn't interfere with the placement of a cylindrical object in an adjacent slot;
there will be sufficient height-difference between the tiers so that the cylindrical objects are easy to reach for;
there will be clear visibility of all of the cylindrical objects;
there will be sufficient height-difference between the tiers so that the cylindrical objects in the anterior tiers don't impede access to the items behind them; for instance, brushes can be pulled out by the handles, rather than by the bristles.
