Description
- This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/570,861 filed 11 Oct. 2017, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
- The present invention relates to insect resistant clothing and, more particularly, to an insect resistant full body suit.
- Most current bug-deterring wearables are two-pieces worn as outerwear, which as a result can rip or get caught on vegetation or other objects in an outdoor setting. Furthermore, two-piece outerwear intrinsically provides a gap that insects, particularly ticks, can readily work their way through and attack the wearer's body. Meanwhile, one-piece systems require undressing and so removing the entire one-piece for bathroom needs.
- As can be seen, there is a need for an insect resistant one-piece body suit having a selective arrangement of zipper fasteners so as to provide access features for the wearer's bathroom needs, while minimizing access of insects to the skin of the wearer. Specifically, the present invention provides a two-way front zipper feature and a one-way encircling zipper to allow for bathroom needs while foreclosing opportunities of insect access. Additionally, the body suit is a one-piece undergarment worn under the wearer's regular clothes, and so cannot be easily torn because it is worn under the wearer's outerwear.
- Furthermore, the 100 percent extremely fine mesh no-see-um netting fabric of the insect resistant body suit is dimensioned and adapted to prevent even the smallest biting insects from penetrating the body suit, thus preventing tick and other insect bites, and thereby avoiding diseases and ailments associated with such bites.
- In one aspect of the present invention, an insect resistant body suit includes a one-piece body suit adapted to accommodate the upper and lower torsos of a wearer, a collar portion defining a neck opening adapted to fit along the wearer's neck when said body suit is worn; two arm portions, each arm portion extending generally from the collar portion and adapted to slidably receive the wearer's arm when said body suit is worn; a waistband adapted, in certain embodiments made of elastic material, to be located along the wearer's waist when said body suit is worn; two leg portions, each leg portion extending generally from the collar waistband and adapted to slidably receive the wearer's leg when said body suit is worn; and each arm and leg portion terminates in a cuff portion defining an opening adapted for receiving an appendage of the wearer when the body suit is worn, each cuff portion providing a biasing property so as to urge an inner surface of each cuff portion against said appendage passing through the respective opening.
- In another aspect of the present invention, the insect resistant body suit includes a one-piece body suit made from insect resistant no-see-um netting fabric dimensioned and adapted to accommodate the upper and lower torsos of a wearer; a collar portion defining a neck opening adapted to fit along the wearer's neck when said body suit is worn, wherein the collar portion defines a neck opening adapted for receiving a neck of the wearer when the body suit is worn, the collar portion providing a biasing property so as to urge an inner surface of the collar portion against said neck passing through the neck opening; two arm portions, each arm portion extending generally from the collar portion and adapted to slidably receive the wearer's arm when said body suit is worn; an elastic waistband adapted, in certain embodiments made of elastic material, to be located along the wearer's waist when said body suit is worn; two leg portions, each leg portion extending generally from the collar waistband and adapted to slidably receive the wearer's leg when said body suit is worn; each arm and leg portion terminates in a cuff portion defining an opening adapted for receiving an appendage of the wearer when the body suit is worn, each cuff portion providing a biasing property so as to urge an inner surface of each cuff portion against said appendage passing through the respective opening; a front two-way zipper fastener extending from the collar portion to below the waistband; the two-way zipper can be opened down from the collar portion or up from the crotch area; and a one-way encircling zipper fastener adapted to encircle the hips of the wearer when said body suit is worn, the encircling zipper fastener moveable between a closed condition and an accessible condition.
- These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
