Abstract
The present invention relates generally to an ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box apparatus and a method of making and using same. More particularly, the invention encompasses an ornamental box or container for the storage of loose personal or barber or hair stylist items. The invention is shaped to look like a conventional electric hair clipper or a barber razer or a hair clipper, but does not function as such. The inventive ornamental container could have one or more internal dividers and/or compartments to help separate the stored contents. The invention could also be used as a decorative “piggy bank” for coins, currency, money, and the like, as a decorative “jewelry box” for jewelry, keys, watches, and the like, or a storage or novelty box for a barber or a hair stylist to store safety kits for razor cuts, scissors, combs, hairpins, cleaning brush, and the like.
Description
- The instant patent application claims priority to and the benefit of pending U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 62/558,859, filed on Sep. 14, 2017, titled “Barber Bank And Barber Box Apparatus And A Method Of Making Same”, the entire disclosure of which provisional application is incorporated herein by reference.
- The present invention relates generally to an ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box apparatus and a method of making and using same. More particularly, the invention encompasses an ornamental box or container for the storage of loose personal or barber or hair stylist items. The invention is shaped to look like a conventional electric hair clipper or a barber razer or a hair clipper, but does not function as such. The inventive ornamental container could have one or more internal dividers and/or compartments to help separate the stored contents. The invention could also be used as a decorative “piggy bank”, and could be used as a storage container for coins, currency, money, and the like. The invention could also be as a decorative “jewelry box”, and could be used as a storage container for jewelry, keys, watches, and the like, or it could also be used as a storage or novelty box by a barber or a hair stylist to store, for example, safety kits for razor cuts, scissors, combs, hairpins, cleaning brush, and the like.
- Ornamental box and containers have been used in the industry for a variety of reasons, and they come in many shapes, sizes, and other physical features and attributes.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,379,903 (William L. Smith), the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, discloses an electric hair clipper utility board for holding a plurality of barber electric hair clippers in a ready-to-use position when they are not being used. The board further comprises a plate having a plurality of hooks for enabling the hanging of the hair clippers, and a like number of electrical cords extending outwardly through corresponding apertures formed through the plate. Electric cords are connected by a common cord which can be plugged into a preexisting power outlet. A shelf may be fixed to the plate beneath the hooks for holding barber implements such as comb and scissors. The apparatus may include one or more hair clippers already connected to the electrical cords.
- U.S. Pat. No. 7,093,363 (Jack C. Kuo), the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, discloses a foldable razor assembly which includes a detachable razor blade embedded at the front end of a handle, a box base with its lateral side pivotally coupled to the rear end of the handle, a cavity defined by the box base and a lid for containing the handle and razor blade, and a box body. Since the handle is pivotally coupled to an end of the box base, the handle can be rotated directly to put the handle and the razor blade into the cavity of the box base, and the lid is turned to cover the cavity when the razor is not in use, so as to reduce the overall storage volume of the razor for an easy storage or carry. The invention can prevent the box body from being separated from the razor or missing, and also can keep the razor from being contaminated by the environment. When it is necessary to use the razor, the lid is opened and the handle is turned to combine with the box body. The invention can be folded or unfolded for easy storage or use.
- This invention improves on the deficiencies of the prior art, and provides an inventive ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box apparatus and a method of making and using same.
- The invention is a novel ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box apparatus and a method of making and using same.
- Therefore, one purpose of this invention is to provide a container that acts as an ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box.
- Another purpose of this invention is to provide a container that acts as an ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box, and has at least one divider or storage compartment.
- Yet another purpose of this invention is to provide a container that acts as an ornamental barber hair clipper bank and/or box, and has an interchangeable blade housing.
- Therefore, in one aspect this invention comprises an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus, comprising:
- (a) a hollow bottom tray having a base, a bottom front end, a bottom back end, and two bottom side walls connecting said base, said bottom front end, and said bottom back end to form said hollow bottom tray;
- (b) a hollow top cover having a top, a top front end, a top back end, and two top side walls connecting said top, said top front end, and said top back end to form said hollow top cover; and
- (c) at least one blade housing, having at least one set of razor teeth at one end, and at least one securing portion at the opposite end, and wherein said at least one securing portion is detachably secured to said top front end of said hollo top cover, and wherein said hollow top cover and said blade housing is frictionally secured to at least a portion of said hollow bottom tray, to form said ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus.
- In another aspect this invention comprises a method of assembling an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus, comprising the steps of:
- (a) securing at least one blade housing to au upper portion of a hollow top cover, wherein said at least one blade housing has a set of false teeth at one end; and
- (b) inserting at least one hinge into an opening in a bottom hollow container, such that said hollow top cover rotates about an edge of said bottom hollow container, and wherein said assembly is in a shape of an ornamental barber hair clipper container.

FIG. 4 , shows a perspective view of an ornamental clipper-shaped storage container according to a fourth embodiment of this invention. - The inventive ornamental barber bank and barber box apparatus and a method of making same will now be discussed with reference to
FIGS. 1 through 4 . Although the scope of the present invention is much broader than any particular embodiment, a detailed description of the preferred embodiment follows together with drawings. These drawings are for illustration purposes only and are not drawn to scale. Like numbers represent like features and components in the drawings. It should be understood that the barber bank, is a decorative, structure or a hair clipper, with no functional parts to act as or be used as an actual functional hair clipper. -
FIG. 1 , shows an exploded view of an ornamental clipper-shaped storage container 23, or a decorativehair clipper replica 23, or is shaped to represent a conventionalelectric hair clipper 23, according to a first embodiment of this invention. The ornamental clipper-shaped storage container 23, essentially comprises of a base or bottom ortray portion 30, a cover or top or upper orlid portion 10. Thelid potion 10, has a top orupper surface 13, a top back orrear end 12, atop front end 14, a top front orforward flange 16, aperipheral edge 17, alocation 18, for the placement of amechanism 45, and a raisededge 19. The ornamental clipper-shaped storage container 23, further has anornamental blade housing 20, having, a blade upper side orsurface 22, and a blade bottom side orsurface 24. The blade upper side orsurface 22, preferably has at least two decorative screw heads, orornamental screw heads 28, and at least one ornamentaldecorative portion 25, and anornamental razor teeth 26, at a distal end. For some applications theornamental blade housing 20, could comprise of anupper blade 20A, having a set ofupper razor teeth 26A, and alower blade 20B, having a set oflower razor teeth 26B, so as to give an impression of a functional or anon-functional blade teeth 26, as in reality the upperrazor blade teeth 26A, and the lowerrazor blade teeth 26B, work in harmony to cut or clip hair (not shown), but which are well-known to a person skilled in the art. Theupper blade 20A, and thelower blade 20B, could each be a separatestandalone piece blade housing 20. It should be appreciated that for some applications theupper blade unit 20A, could be made of a first material, such as, for example, plastic, while the upperrazor blade teeth 26A, could be made from a second material, such, as, for example, metal, stainless steel, to name a few, or bothpieces unit 20B, could be made of a first material, such as, for example, plastic, while the lowerrazor blade teeth 26B, could be made from a second material, such as, for example, metal, stainless steel, to name a few, or bothpieces blade housing portion 20, could have asnap portion 21, on the blade bottom side orsurface 24, and a blade bottomperipheral edge 29, which could be snapped into thelid portion 10, and held therein by friction, or it could be integrated into thelid portion 10, or it could be temporarily or permanently secured to thelid portion 10, such that the blade bottomperipheral edge 29, mates with the correspondingperipheral edge 17, along thetop front end 14, starting along the raisededge 19, and the top forward.flange 16. For some applications the lid orcover portion 10, and theblade housing portion 20, could be a one piece structure comprising 10, and 20. Thelocation 18, could be a hole oropening 18, for the placement of amechanism 45, such as alever 45, having a Snap-On means 46, which could be forced or popped into the hole oropening 18, and could be allowed to rotate freely inside thehole 18, along arotational path 49. For some applications themechanism 45, could have at least one tab or frictional portion orfrictional lock 48. Thetray portion 30, comprises of a bottom back orrear end 32, a bottom front orblade end 34, a bottom portion orbase 33, aside wall portion 31, and a peripheral lip or edge orextension 37, and having alower edge 37B. The bottom front portion or end 34, has a front end or edge 34A, to allow theblade bottom side 24, to rest thereon. Thetray sidewall 31, is provided with at least one hole oropening 36, and a bridge orrod 35, which allows the continuity of the lip orextension 37. For some applications one could also have the lip orextension 37, having at least one support orstopper 37A, to allow for the resting of thetop edge 17, of the lid or cover 10, once the lid or cover 10, is rotateably opened. The upper portion of the bottomback end 32, has at least one hole oropening 38, and a support ledge orarea 38A. A make-belief electrical cord, or a fake wire, or a false electrical cord, or aflex protector 40, having a lip orextension 42, and a downwardly located tab ormale portion 44, is temporarily or permanently secured to the bottomback end 32, such that thetab portion 44, is inserted into the hole oropening 38, while the lip orextension 42, rests on top of theledge 38A, while the fake wire orcord 40, juts or extends outwardly from, thetray 30. It should be appreciated that the tab orfrictional lock 48, rotates around apath 49, and as such the tab orfrictional lock 48, could be pushed below the lip orextension 37, to frictionally engage with and lock thelever 45, using thelower edge 37B, of the lip orextension 37. The hinge ortab 15, is inserted into the hole oropening 36, and is allowed to rotate around the rod orbridge 35, in order to open or close the cover orlid 10. Once assembled the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23, looks like a fake or false barber'sclipper 23, and the housing is shaped to imitate or be a replica of a barber or a stylist'shair clipper 23, as more clearly shown inFIG. 3 , andFIG. 4 . For some applications, one could have one ormore inscription 11, ordecal 11, orcolor 11, on the internal or external portion of the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23. For some applications thetray 30, could have one ormore dividers 39, so as to create one or more storage areas or compartments 31A, 31B. Thedividers 39, could befull dividers 39, extending from oneside wall 31, to the opposite end of theside wall 31, or thedividers 39, could bepartial dividers 39. At least onedivider 39, could be made of the same material as thebottom tray 30, or it could be made from a different material, thus the at least onedivider 39, could be made from a first material, while thebottom tray 30, could be made from a second material, or both the at least onedivider 39, and thebottom tray 30, could be made from the second material. It should be appreciated that the lid orcover portion 10, and the lower ortray portion 30, is substantially hollow on the inside, so that,items 55, such as, knickknacks, coins, currency, barber scissors, combs, hairpins, safety kits for razor cuts, and the like 55, can be stored therein, or be able to contain any coins orcurrency 55, that may be dropped into thecontainer 30, via at least one slot oropening FIG. 4 . -
FIG. 2 , shows a top view of an ornamental clipper-shaped storage container'stop lid 10, according to asecond embodiment 23A, of this invention. The lid or cover 10, has at least one hinge orextension 15, having an end tab or lip or stop 27, to form ahook 27A. Thetab 27, and theextension 15, are inserted into the hole oropening 36, and thetab 27, engages with the external surface of thesidewall 31, and allows thehook 27A, to rotate thelid 10, about the bridge orrod 35. Theend tab 27, or thehook 27A, could be a round-shapedend tab end tab shape end tab hole 36, but would resist or prevent thelid 10, from separating from thetray 30, and also allow the rotation of the lid or cover 10, about the bridge orrod 35, using thehook 27A. The ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23A, has a length “L”, and a width “W”, and where the length “L”, and the width. “W”, would be determined according to the application, such as, whether the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23A, is aminiature container 23A, areplica size container 23A, alarge size container 23A, to name a few. -
FIG. 3 , shows a perspective view of an ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23B, or a decorativehair clipper replica 23B, according to a third embodiment of this invention. The ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23B, is similar to the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23, however, at least one ring orkey ring 43, is secured to the end of thereplica wire 40, via at least one chain, or string, or cord, or engagingmeans 41. Thus, the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23B, could be used as container that can be easily put in one's pocket, or a purse, or attached to a pocket-book, or similar such item (not shown). For some applications one could also have at least one ON/OFF switch 50, and/or at least onebutton 50, and/or at least oneregulator 50. The at least onebutton 50, and/or the at least one ON/OFF switch 50, could be a decorative, or dummy, or afunctional structure 50. The location of thebutton 50, could be along any external surface of the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23B, or it could be to mimic as a button or switch orregulator 50, such as, which appears on an actual barber or hair stylist's hair clipper (not shown). -
FIG. 4 , shows a perspective view of an ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23C, or a decorativehair clipper replica 23C, according to a fourth embodiment of this invention. The ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23C, is similar to the ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23, but it could optionally have at least one opening, or slot, or coin slot, 47, 47A, 47B, whichslot item 55, such as, a coin, or currency, or hairpins, or similarsuch item 55. The ornamental clipper-shapedstorage container 23C, could also haverazor teeth 26, of varying shapes, such as, for example, short comb shaped teeth 26C, long comb-shaped teeth 26D, or any other similar shapedteeth 26, to name a few. Thus, one can have aninterchangeable blade housing 20, where the blade orblade teeth stylist blade 26, and where thesnap portion 21, of theblade housing 20, could be popped out or securely popped into theperipheral edges 17, of the topforward flange 16. For some applications one could have at least oneslideable button 57, and/or a non-functional decorative ON/OFF type switch 57, that could, for example be slideable over the opening or hole orslot 47, so as to cover or conceal or protect the opening or hole orslot 47. - It should be appreciated that the ornamental clipper-shaped

storage container - It should also be appreciated that the interior surface or the exterior surface or both surfaces of the
cover 10, theblade housing portion 20, and thetray 30, could have at least oneinscription 11, and wherein theinscription 11, could be selected from a group comprising of a design, an indicia, a drawing, a photograph, a scenery, a picture, an illustration, a gesture, a smiley-type face, a phrase, a statement, a rhyme, an, alphabet, a numeral, a symbol, a visual message, a graphic image, a verbiage, a camouflage, an outdoor scenery, a barber theme, a hair-stylist theme, and combinations thereof, just to name a few. It should be appreciated that theinscription 11, could also be used for an advertisement, or for some decorative feature, or a slogan, or a statement, to name a few. - The color of the different components for the ornamental clipper-shaped
storage container - It should be appreciated that the ornamental clipper-shaped
storage container storage container storage container FIG. 1 , andFIG. 3 , respectively. - It should be understood that the blade or
teeth blade housing 20, is a non-functionaldecorative blade decorative blade blade housing 20, could have a ⅛ inch comb length, a ¼ inch comb length, a ⅜ inch comb length, a ½ inch comb length, a ⅝ inch comb length, a ¾ inch comb length, a ⅞ inch comb length, a 1 inch comb length, and combinations thereof, to name a few. - It should be appreciated that the
invention hair clipper ornamental container internal dividers 39, and/orcompartments 31A, 3113, to help separate the storedcontents 55. As stated earlier, that theinvention storage container invention storage container novelty box - Thus, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described herein and the constituent elements of the invention can be modified in various manners without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Various aspects of the invention can also be extracted from any appropriate combination of a plurality of constituent elements disclosed in the embodiments. Some constituent elements maybe-deleted in all of the constituent elements disclosed in the embodiments. The constituent elements described in different embodiments may be combined arbitrarily.
- Still further, while certain embodiments of the inventions have been described, these embodiments have been presented by way of example only, and are not intended to limit the scope of the inventions. Indeed, the novel methods and systems described herein may be embodied in a variety of other forms; furthermore, various omissions, substitutions and changes in the form of the methods and systems described herein may be made without departing from the spirit of the inventions.
- It should be-further understood that throughout the specification and claims several terms have been used and they take the meanings explicitly associated herein, unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. For example, the phrase “in one embodiment” as used herein does not necessarily refer to the same embodiment, though it may. Additionally, the phrase “in another embodiment” as used herein does not necessarily refer to a different embodiment, although it may. Thus, various embodiments, of the invention may be readily combined, without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention.
- While the present invention has been particularly described in conjunction with a specific preferred embodiment, it is evident that many alternatives, modifications and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art in light of the foregoing description. It is therefore contemplated that the appended claims will embrace any such alternatives, modifications and variations as falling within the true scope and spirit of the present invention.
Claims (20)
1. An ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus, comprising:
(a) a hollow bottom tray having a base, a bottom front end, a bottom back end, and two bottom side walls connecting said base, said bottom front end, and said bottom back end to form said hollow bottom tray;
(b) a hollow top cover having a top, a top front end, a top back end and two top side walls connecting said top, said top front end, and said top back end to form said hollow top cover; and
(c) at least one blade housing, having at least one set of razor teeth at one end, and at least one securing portion at the opposite end, and wherein said at least one securing portion is detachably secured to said top front end of said hollo top cover, and wherein said hollow top cover and said blade housing is frictionally secured to at least a portion of said hollow bottom tray, to form said ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus.
2. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said hollow bottom tray has at least one hole, and said hollow top cover has at least one tab, and wherein said at least one tab is inserted into said at least one hole, to allow said hollow top cover to rotatably be secured to said hollow bottom tray.
3. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one lever is secured to an exterior wall of said hollow top cover.
4. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein one of said hollow top cover, said hollow bottom tray, said blade housing has at least one inscription.
5. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein one of said hollow top cover, said hollow bottom tray, said blade housing has at least one inscription, and wherein said inscription is selected from a group consisting of a design, an indicia, a drawing, a photograph, a scenery, a picture, an illustration, a gesture, a smiley-type face, a phrase, a statement, a rhyme, an alphabet, a numeral, a symbol, a visual message, a graphic image, a verbiage, a camouflage, an outdoor scenery, a barber theme, a hair-stylist theme, an advertisement, a. decorative feature, a slogan, a statement, and combinations thereof.
6. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein material for said apparatus is selected from a group consisting of metallic material, plastic material, polymeric material, composite material, iron, aluminum, glass, cardboard, a transparent material, a translucent material, an opaque material, a wood material, a fibrous material, and combinations thereof.
7. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one divider is secured to an inner portion of one of said bottom side wall.
8. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein, at least one divider is secured to an inner portion of one of said bottom side wall, and wherein said at least one divider is made from at least one first material, and said bottom side wall is made from at least one second material.
9. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one coin slot is formed in one of said hollow top cover, and said at least one blade housing.
10. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one coin slot is formed in one of said hollow top cover, and said at least one blade housing, and at least one slideable button slideably exposes or closes said at least one coin slot.
11. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said blade housing has teeth, and wherein said teeth are selected from a group consisting of a comb shaped teeth, stubby teeth, long pointed teeth, and combinations thereof.
12. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one fake wire cord is secured to an edge of said hollow bottom tray.
13. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least one fake wire cord is secured to an edge of said hollow bottom tray, wherein at least one key chain ring is secured to an end of said at least one fake wire cord.
14. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said at least one blade housing, having said at least one set of razor teeth at one end, comprises of an upper blade unit having an upper set of razor teeth, and a lower blade unit having a lower set of razor teeth.
15. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said at least one blade housing, having said at least one set of razor teeth at one end, comprises of an upper blade unit having an upper set of razor teeth, and a lower blade unit having a lower set of razor teeth, and wherein said upper blade unit moves independent of a movement of said lower blade unit.
16. The ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said at least one blade housing, having said at least one set of razor teeth at one end, comprises of an upper blade unit having an upper set of razor teeth, and a lower blade unit having a lower set of razor teeth, and wherein at least a portion of said upper blade unit is secured to at least a portion of said lower blade unit.
17. A method of assembling an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus, comprising the steps of:
(a) securing at least one blade housing to an upper portion of a hollow top cover, wherein said at least one blade housing has a set of false teeth at one end; and
(b) inserting at least one hinge into an opening in a bottom hollow container, such that said hollow top cover rotates about an edge of said bottom hollow container, and wherein said assembly is in a shape of an ornamental barber hair clipper container.
18. The method of assembling an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 17 , wherein said at least one blade housing, having a false teeth at one end, further comprises of an upper blade unit having an upper set of razor teeth, and a lower blade unit having a lower set of razor teeth, and wherein said upper blade unit moves independent of a movement of said lower blade unit.
19. The method of assembling an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 17 , wherein said at least one blade housing, having a false teeth at one end, further comprises of an upper blade unit having an upper set of razor teeth, and a lower blade unit having, a lower set of razor teeth, and wherein at least a portion of said upper blade unit is secured to at least a portion of said lower blade unit.
20. The method of assembling an ornamental barber hair clipper container apparatus of claim 17 , wherein at least one coin slot is formed in one of said hollow top cover, and said at least one blade housing, and at least one slideable button slideably exposes or closes said at least one coin slot.
