Abstract
The current invention is a rocking bed to provide high quality naps for adults. The bed is a deep curved design, like a half-egg shape. The bed is held up by a support arm, which attaches at the head and foot of the bed. The support arm is attached to a floor base, which controls rocking and vibration of the bed. There are multiple rocking options, ranging in rocking and vibration frequencies, and in total time. The bed can be controlled by the base or by Bluetooth enabled devices. The material is durable and easily washed. The bed has rechargeable batteries. The components of the bed are detachable for easy moving and storing.
Description
- None.
- This invention relates to beds and particularly ones that have programmed rocking functions.
- The normal American adult does not consistently get adequate sleep. This can be from many reasons, such as stress, childcare, or physical discomfort. As sleep is such an important issue for humans, the market has products that attempt to improve the ease of nightly sleep. There are multiple beds addressing comfort, with features to allow changing position and hardness of the mattress. Stress reducing devices also exist in many forms, including products ranging from prescription medication and dietary supplements, to specialized lighting and noise machines.
- There is still room for improvement in the art.
- The current invention is a sleeping platform like a bed that will help a user have higher quality sleep, allowing for more rejuvenating sleep. The bed is a deep curved design and is programmed with multiple rocking options.
- The bed is a deep curved design, similar to a half-egg-shape. The bed is held up by a pair of support arms, which attaches to the head and foot of the bed. The support arms are attached to the base. The bed, support arms, and base can be disassembled for easy transportation.
- The user can select rocking settings on the base, or through Bluetooth enabled devices. The rocking settings range in time and rate of rocking or vibrations, allowing for quick naps or longer sleep cycles.
- The bed operates on rechargeable batteries.
- The bed is for use indoors or outdoors. All fabrics are durable and machine washable.
- Without restricting the full scope of this invention, the preferred form of this invention is illustrated in the following drawings:
-
FIG. 1 shows the bed; -
FIG. 2 shows the bed from the side; -
FIG. 3 shows the bed from behind the head of the bed; and -
FIG. 4 is focused on the base. - There are a number of significant design features and improvements incorporated within the invention.
- The current invention is a
bed 1 that will help a user have higher quality sleep, allowing for more rejuvenating sleep. Thebed 1 has a deep curved design and can be programmed with multiple rocking options. - As shown in
FIG. 1 through 4 , thebed 1 is a deep curved design, similar to a half-egg-shape. Thebed 1 has asleeping shell 10 that is attached to and held up by a pair ofsupport arms 20, which attaches to the head (front end) 11 and foot (back end) 12 of thesleeping shell 10. Thesupport arms 20 are attached to abase 30. Thesleeping shell 10, supportarms 20 andbase 30 can be disassembled for easy transportation. - The user can select rocking settings in a
control panel 90 located on thebase 30, or through Bluetooth enableddevices 100 as shown inFIG. 3 . Rocking settings range in time and rate of rocking or vibrations, allowing for quick naps or longer sleep cycles. Thesleeping shell 10 will rock based on the rocking settings. Thebed 1 would have multiple rocking settings from fast to slow with five different settings in the preferred embodiment. The user can adjust the rocking speeds. Thebed 1 will also provide soothing vibrations using a vibration means. Thebed 1 is designed to sooth the user into a relaxing slumber. - The
bed 1 has a power source to operate. This power source is rechargeable batteries in the preferred embodiment but it can be any standard power source such as a plug and an outlet. - The
sleeping shell 10 is covered in thesleeping area 15 with a soft fabric. All fabrics used are durable and machine washable. Thesleeping shell 10 is in a concave shape with the head backend 11 positioned slightly higher than thefoot front end 12. The user would place themselves and sleep in thesleeping area 15 in thesleeping shell 10. Thesleeping shell 10 would have anedge 13 that surrounds the opening forming thesleeping area 15. - The
bed 10 has a pair ofarms 20 that connect thesleeping shell 10 to thebase 30. Thearms 20 would connect to thebase 30 at thearm connection block 40. Thearm connection block 30 sits on therocker 50. Therocker 50 moves thearms 20 back and front producing a rocking motion. This is done using a rocking means such as a motor. Therocker 50 is attached to the center of thebase 30. Thebase 30 is flat and wide so that it can provide a stable platform for thebed 1. In the preferred embodiment, thebase 30 is square in shape. - The
sleeping shell 10 will pivot on theaxle connections 25 with thearm 20 so that thesleeping shell 10 is always parallel with the ground so that theuser 10 is rocked by the movement of thearms 20 gently without being throw from side to side. - The user will be able to control the rocking movement and speed using a
control panel 90 located on thebase 30 and/or awireless device 100 like a controller or smart phone connected to thebed 1 wirelessly to thecontrol panel 90 which would have a wireless or Bluetooth communication means as shown inFIG. 2 . - The
bed 1 will have apedal 55 in the preferred embodiment which when press will allow thearms 20 to be removed from thebase 30 and thesleeping shell 10 for disassemble for easy transportation and storage. Thebed 1 is made of durable, waterproof/resistant materials for use both indoors or outdoors. - The innovative bed improves the quality of sleep and of naps, making the user feel more refreshed. Unlike other products that focus on improving the quality of a full-length nightly sleep, this rocking bed is designed to improve the quality of shorter napping periods throughout the day. The bed combines elements of comfort and stress reduction to allow a user to rapidly relax and fall into a deep nap. This acknowledges that there is no perfect way to ensure a full 8-hours of sleep per night and is providing a way to get high quality rest when the opportunity presents itself.
