Abstract

An arm covering assembly includes a shield that is selectively worn on a left forearm of a vehicle driver. The shield is comprised of a reflective material to protect the left forearm from sunburn when a vehicle is being driven. A pad is coupled to the shield and the pad abuts the left forearm when the shield is worn. The pad is comprised of a resiliently compressible material to enhance comfort of the shield. A plurality of first mating members is provided and each of the first mating members is coupled to the shield. A plurality of second mating members is provided and each of the second mating members is coupled to the shield. Each of the second mating members is selectively matable to an associated first mating member. Thus, each of the first and second mating members is selectively wrapped around the left forearm to retain the shield on the left forearm.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The disclosure and prior art relates to covering devices and more particularly pertains to a new covering device for protecting a left forearm from sunburn while driving a vehicle.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shield that is selectively worn on a left forearm of a vehicle driver. The shield is comprised of a reflective material to protect the left forearm from sunburn when a vehicle is being driven. A pad is coupled to the shield and the pad abuts the left forearm when the shield is worn. The pad is comprised of a resiliently compressible material to enhance comfort of the shield. A plurality of first mating members is provided and each of the first mating members is coupled to the shield. A plurality of second mating members is provided and each of the second mating members is coupled to the shield. Each of the second mating members is selectively matable to an associated first mating member. Thus, each of the first and second mating members is selectively wrapped around the left forearm to retain the shield on the left forearm.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of an arm covering assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a left side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new covering device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the arm covering assembly 10 generally comprises a shield 12 that is selectively worn on a forearm 14 of a vehicle driver. The shield 12 is comprised of a reflective material to protect the forearm 14 from sunburn when a vehicle is being driven. The vehicle may be a passenger vehicle, a cargo vehicle and any other vehicle that has a driver's side window. The shield 12 is selectively worn on the driver's left forearm 14 thereby shielding the left forearm 14 from sunlight that passes through the driver's side window.
  • The shield 12 has a first surface 16, a second surface 18 and a peripheral edge 20 extending therebetween. The peripheral edge 20 has a front side 22, a back side 24, a first lateral side 26 and a second lateral side 28. The front side 22 is concavely arcuate between the first 26 and second 28 lateral sides. Moreover, the front side 22 extends along a top side of a hand when the shield 12 is worn.
  • Each of the first 26 and second 28 lateral sides curves inwardly between the front side 22 and the back side 24 to define a curve 30. The curve 30 corresponding to the first 26 and second 28 lateral sides is positioned closer to the front side 22 than the back side 24. Moreover, the curve 30 corresponding to the first 26 and second 28 lateral sides is aligned with a wrist when the shield 12 is worn. In this way the shield 12 is inhibited from frictionally engaging the wrist. Each of the first 16 and second 18 surfaces is concavely arcuate between the first 26 and second 28 lateral sides. Thus, the shield 12 conforms to a curvature of the forearm 14 when the shield 12 is worn.
  • A pad 32 is coupled to the shield 12 and the pad 32 abuts the forearm 14 when the shield 12 is worn. The pad 32 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material to enhance comfort when the shield 12 is worn. The pad 32 has a primary surface 34 and a secondary surface 36 and the primary surface 34 is coupled to the first surface 16 of the shield 12. The pad 32 completely covers the first surface 16 of the shield 12 and the secondary surface 36 rests on the forearm 14 when the shield 12 is worn.
  • A plurality of first mating members 38 is provided and each of the first mating members 38 is coupled to the shield 12. Each of the first mating members 38 is coupled to the secondary surface 36 of the pad 32 and each of the first mating members 38 extends outwardly from the first lateral side 26 of the shield 12. Each of the first mating members 38 has a distal end 40 with respect to the first lateral side 26 and the first mating members 38 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the second lateral side 28.
  • A plurality of second mating members 42 is provided and each of the second mating members 42 is coupled to the shield 12. Each of the second mating members 42 is coupled to the secondary surface 36 of the pad 32 and each of the second mating members 42 extends outwardly from the second lateral side 28 of the shield 12. Each of the second mating members 42 has a distal end 44 with respect to the second lateral side 28 and the second mating members 42 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the second lateral side 28.
  • Each of the second mating members 42 is aligned with an associated one of the first mating members 38. Moreover, each of the second mating members 42 is selectively matable to the associated first mating member 38. In this way each of the first 38 and second 42 mating members is wrapped around the forearm 14 to retain the shield 12 on the forearm 14. Each of the first 38 and second 42 mating members may comprise a complementary hook and loop fasteners, flexible metal straps and any other mating member that can be wrapped around the forearm 14.
  • In use, the shield 12 is placed on top of the left forearm 14 and each of the first 38 and second mating members 42 are secured around the forearm 14. The shield 12 is positioned on the left forearm 14 to extend between the left elbow and the metacarpophalangeal knuckles on the left hand. Thus, the shield 12 protects the left forearm 14 from sunlight that passes through the driver's side window in the vehicle. In this way the shield 12 inhibits the left forearm 14 from being sunburned while the vehicle is being driven. The shield 12 is removed from the left forearm 14 at any selected time.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims (8)

I claim:
1. An arm covering assembly being configured to protect an arm from sunburn, said assembly comprising:
a shield being configured to be worn on a forearm of a vehicle driver, said shield being comprised of a reflective material wherein said shield is configured to protect the forearm from sunburn when a vehicle is being driven;
a pad being coupled to said shield wherein said pad is configured to abut the forearm when said shield is worn, said pad being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said pad is configured to enhance comfort of said shield;
a plurality of first mating members, each of said first mating members being coupled to said shield; and
a plurality of second mating members, each of said second mating members being coupled to said shield, each of said second mating members being selectively matable to an associated first mating member wherein each of said first and second mating members is configured to be wrapped around the forearm to retain said shield on the forearm.
2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said shield has a first surface, a second surface and a peripheral edge extending therebetween, said peripheral edge having a front side, a back side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said front side being concavely arcuate between said first and second lateral sides wherein said front side is configured to extend along a top side of a hand when said shield is worn.
3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of said first and second lateral sides curves inwardly between said front side and said back side to define a curve, said curve corresponding to said first and second lateral sides being positioned closer to said front side than said back side wherein said curve corresponding to said first and second lateral sides is configured to be aligned with a wrist when said shield is worn thereby inhibiting said shield from frictionally engaging the wrist.
4. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of said first and second surfaces being concavely arcuate between said first and second lateral sides wherein said shield is configured to conform to a curvature of the forearm when said shield is worn.
5. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said pad has a primary surface and a secondary surface, said primary surface being coupled to said first surface of said shield, said pad completely covering said first surface, said secondary surface being configured to rest on the forearm when said shield is worn.
6. The assembly according to claim 5, wherein each of said first mating members is coupled to said secondary surface of said pad, each of said first mating members extending outwardly from said first lateral side of said shield, each of said first mating members having a distal end with respect to said first lateral side, said first mating members being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said second lateral side.
7. The assembly according to claim 6, wherein each of said second mating members is coupled to said secondary surface of said pad, each of said second mating members extending outwardly from said second lateral side of said shield, each of said second mating members having a distal end with respect to said second lateral side, said second mating members being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said second lateral side, each of said second mating members being aligned with an associated one of said first mating members.
8. An arm covering assembly being configured to protect an arm from sunburn, said assembly comprising:
a shield being configured to be worn on a forearm of a vehicle driver, said shield being comprised of a reflective material wherein said shield is configured to protect the forearm from sunburn when a vehicle is being driven, said shield having a first surface, a second surface and a peripheral edge extending therebetween, said peripheral edge having a front side, a back side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said front side being concavely arcuate between said first and second lateral sides wherein said front side is configured to extend along a top side of a hand when said shield is worn, each of said first and second lateral sides curving inwardly between said front side and said back side to define a curve, said curve corresponding to said first and second lateral sides being positioned closer to said front side than said back side wherein said curve corresponding to said first and second lateral sides is configured to be aligned with a wrist when said shield is worn thereby inhibiting said shield from frictionally engaging the wrist, each of said first and second surfaces being concavely arcuate between said first and second lateral sides wherein said shield is configured to conform to a curvature of the forearm when said shield is worn;
a pad being coupled to said shield wherein said pad is configured to abut the forearm when said shield is worn, said pad being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said pad is configured to enhance comfort of said shield, said pad having a primary surface and a secondary surface, said primary surface being coupled to said first surface of said shield, said pad completely covering said first surface, said secondary surface being configured to rest on the forearm when said shield is worn; and
a plurality of first mating members, each of said first mating members being coupled to said shield, each of said first mating members being coupled to said secondary surface of said pad, each of said first mating members extending outwardly from said first lateral side of said shield, each of said first mating members having a distal end with respect to said first lateral side, said first mating members being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said second lateral side; and
a plurality of second mating members, each of said second mating members being coupled to said shield, each of said second mating members being coupled to said secondary surface of said pad, each of said second mating members extending outwardly from said second lateral side of said shield, each of said second mating members having a distal end with respect to said second lateral side, said second mating members being spaced apart from each other and being distributed along said second lateral side, each of said second mating members being aligned with an associated one of said first mating members, each of said second mating members being selectively matable to said associated first mating member wherein each of said first and second mating members is configured to be wrapped around the forearm to retain said shield on the forearm.
