Description
- The present invention relates to a functional pillow that can be easily washed, more specifically, a functional pillow that is easy to wash, including first and second functional pillows for use in accordance with a user's body shape and a purpose of use, wherein the first functional pillow includes a central flat portion having no cotton therein, and the second functional pillow is stitched to form center lines arranged in parallel so as to correspond to each other.
- Generally, a pillow is a kind of bedding that guides a comfortable sleep by providing proper cushioning while supporting the head at a proper height. The pillow is provided with stuffing of a proper size, a filler embedded in the pillow, and a pillow cover for covering the pillow.
- As a filler to be embedded in such a conventional pillow, grain shells such as buckwheat husks or rice husks were mainly used in the past. In recent years, dried herbs, synthetic resin particles containing ceramics, foam resin particles, feathers or hair of an animal such as a chicken, a duck or a sheep and synthetic rubber such as polyester and latex are used as a filler.
- However, in the case of conventional pillow stuffing, if the embedded filler cannot be washed, the stuffing of the pillow is not washed and only the pillow cover is washed. As a result, the overall hygienic condition of the pillow is not good, and thus the pillow causes reproduction of various bacteria and mites therein, and also contributes to various kinds of dermatitis and allergies.

-
FIG. 1 is a view showing a first functional pillow constituting a part of a functional pillow according to an embodiment of the present invention, andFIG. 2 is a view showing a second functional pillow constituting a part of a functional pillow according to an embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 3 is a view showing a functional pillow arranged unfolded according to an embodiment of the present invention,FIG. 4 is a view showing the front and back of a functional pillow according to an embodiment of the present invention, andFIG. 5 is a view showing the front and back of a functional pillow according to another embodiment of the present invention. - As shown in
FIG. 1 , the functional pillow according to the present invention includes a firstfunctional pillow 10 and a second functional pillow 20, wherein the first functional pillow includes afirst pillow surface 11 having a quadrangular shape and asecond pillow surface 12 having the same quadrangular shape as the first pillow surface, wherein the first pillow surface and the second pillow surface are coupled to each other along outer edges thereof, wherein the first functional pillow further comprises a centralflat portion 13 formed at a center of the first functional pillow without pillow cotton provided therein by stitching the first pillow surface and the second pillow surface, and first inner cotton (not shown) disposed in an interior between the first pillow surface and the second pillow surface coupled to each other and arranged only in a peripheral portion of the first functional pillow except the central flat portion. - The first functional pillow may be formed as a rectangular pillow extending in a longitudinal direction since this shape provides an optimal structure that comfortably supports a user's head. In accordance with this shape, the central flat portion without cotton included in an inner space thereof is formed. The central flat portion is a part which the user's head touches. Although cotton is not disposed in the inner surface of the central flat portion, the first functional pillow is used in coupling with the second functional pillow, and therefore the central flat portion of the first functional pillow may overlap the central portion of the second functional pillow, thereby comfortably supporting the user's head. In conventional cases where one pillow rather than two pillows is used, the central flat portion as provided in the present invention cannot be formed as the function of supporting the head is required.
- The first functional pillow may further include a pair of
tubes 15 formed at the peripheral portion of the interior of the first functional pillow where the first inner cotton is disposed, in order to maintain the shape of the first functional pillow. The pair oftubes 15 may be arranged at positions symmetrical to each other with respect to the central flat portion. - The tubes formed inside the first functional pillow serve to prevent the first inner cotton from being maldistributed to one side during washing or height adjustment. Since two passages to which the first cotton may be maldistributed are formed at symmetrical positions on both sides of the central flat portion of the first functional pillow, the tubes are preferably formed in both passages. The material of the tube is not particularly limited, but a polymeric resin such as plastic or a material having elasticity such as a urethane resin may be used as the material of the tubes in consideration of the original function of preventing maldistribution of the cotton.
- The second functional pillow includes a
third pillow surface 21 having a quadrangular shape, and afourth pillow surface 22 having the same quadrangular shape as the third pillow surface, wherein the third pillow surface and the fourth pillow surface are couple to each other along outer edges thereof, wherein the second functional pillow further includes afirst center line 23 and asecond center line 24 formed at a center of the second functional pillow by overlapping the third pillow surface and the fourth pillow surface and performing stitching in directions symmetrical to each other; and second inner cotton disposed in an interior between the third pillow surface and the fourth pillow surface. - Further, a third center line may be formed at the center of the second functional pillow by overlapping the third pillow surface and the fourth pillow surface and performing stitching so as to connect the first center line and the second central line disposed in directions symmetrical to each other.
- Similar to the tubes of the first functional pillow, the first, second and third center lines formed in the second functional pillow serve to prevent the second inner cotton from being maldistributed in a specific direction. Particularly, when the first and second center lines are arranged parallel to each other and the third center line is formed in a direction perpendicular to the first and second center lines, the most efficient structure is obtained. Ultimately, central lines in the “H” shape may be formed at the center of the second functional pillow. However, the first and second center lines are not necessarily straight, and may be formed in the shape of a streamlined curve as shown in
FIGS. 2 to 4 . - In addition, the first pillow surface, the second pillow surface, the third pillow surface, and the fourth pillow surface may all have a rectangular shape and may have the same size and shape. In this case, the pillow may be easily manufactured. In addition, when an integrated pillow, which will be described later, is formed, it may be more easily manufactured when the first, second, third, and fourth pillow surfaces have the same size and shape.
- The first inner cotton and the second inner cotton may be cotton that exhibits excellent resilience after using the pillow. In other words, the first inner cotton and the second inner cotton are most preferably cotton having a thickness of 5 denier or less. Denier, which is a count of constant length the system, is an international unit used to indicate the thickness of a thread or fiber of raw silk, artificial silk or a synthetic fiber, and is denoted by the symbol d or D. As widely used internationally, 1 denier is defined as a unit weight of 0.05 g for a standard length of 450 m. In denier, as the weight increases, the thickness and the fineness of the fiber increases. As the weight decreases, the thickness and the fineness of the fiber decrease. Although the word “count”, which is used as a unit indicating the thickness of a yarn, is mainly used to indicate the thickness of a cotton yarn.
- The superfine fiber is a thread having a thickness of 0.1 denier to 0.5 denier, which is one-hundredth the thickness of human hair, and has a water absorption rate 2 to 5 times higher than that of the cotton yarn. Accordingly, the superfine fiber is mainly used for a towel or an eyeglass wipe. In addition, the superfine fiber is hygienic because the fiber structure is woven tightly due to the nature of the fabric and thus mites or fungi cannot proliferate therein. Further, it hardly causes static electricity.
- The functional pillow according to the present invention may obtain the maximized effect when superfine fiber cotton having a thickness of 0.1 denier to 0.5 denier is used for the first inner cotton and the second inner cotton. Cotton of 5 denier or less may also be disposed inside the pillow.
- The first functional pillow and the second functional pillow are provided with a
zipper line 16 formed on both outer edges thereof in the longitudinal direction of the first functional pillow and the second functional pillow so as to zip together. - As shown in
FIGS. 3 and 4 , as the zipper is formed on both edge lines formed in the longitudinal direction of the first and second functional pillows of a rectangular shape, fixing force is primarily obtained by zipping both edges. Then, abutton coupling unit 17 is formed at the other edge lines that are not provided with the zipper. Thereby, coupling of the pillows is further enhanced. - The four outer edge lines of each of the first functional pillow and the second functional pillow of the rectangular shape are stitched and coupled, such that one integrated pillow combining the first functional pillow and the second functional pillow is formed.
- As shown in
FIG. 5 , when the outer lines of the firstfunctional pillow 10 and the second functional pillow are stitched to form one pillow, they may be viewed as forming one pillow from the outside, but have a structure containing two functional pillows. - In addition, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the first functional pillow and the second functional pillow can be separated from each other by releasing the coupling unit formed by the zipper and button coupling, and the separated pillows may be respectively washed. Accordingly, the pillows may be easily washed.
- In addition, for an integrated functional pillow according to another embodiment of the present invention, the inner cotton and the inner cover may be integrally manufactured, and the pillow may be used in an outer cover. When washing is needed, the outer cover may be separated and washed separately for reuse. Accordingly, washing is facilitated.
- As is apparent from the above description, the present invention provides a functional pillow that is easy to wash, including first and second functional pillows for use in accordance with a user's body shape and a purpose of use, wherein the first functional pillow includes a central flat portion having no cotton therein, and the second functional pillow is stitched to form center lines arranged in parallel so as to correspond to each other.
- Although embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed with reference to the accompanying drawings, those skilled in the art will appreciate that modifications, additions and substitutions are possible without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
- It is therefore to be understood that the embodiments described above are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, the scope of the invention is defined by the appended claims, and all changes or modifications derived from the equivalents thereof should be construed as being within the scope of the present invention.
