Abstract

A hair dyeing comb for dying hair. The hair dyeing comb comprises a housing having an elongated body having a first end and a second end, wherein the elongated body includes an interior volume for storing hair dye. The first end of the elongated body includes a handle and the second end includes a plurality of tines extending perpendicularly from a bottom end thereof. Each tine of the plurality of tines includes an interior volume in fluid communication with the interior volume of the elongated body. Each tine further includes one or more apertures that dispense hair dye therethrough. The handle includes an actuator that dispenses hair dye from the one or more apertures on each of the plurality of tines upon selective actuation.

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/506,238 filed on May 15, 2017. The above identified patent application is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety to provide continuity of disclosure.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to hair dyeing tools and techniques. More specifically, the present invention provides a hair dyeing comb for dyeing a user's hair.
Dyeing hair can be a difficult and frustrating process. People often visit hair salons to get their hair dyed, which can be incredibly expensive. Even more so to fix a bad home dye job. One of the most frequent problems is controlling where and how the dye is spread across the hair. Putting too much dye in one area and not enough in another leads to inconsistencies and insecurities. Therefore, a hair dyeing comb that can selectively release hair dye from tines of the comb by utilizing an actuator is needed.
Devices have been disclosed in the known art that relate to hair dyeing combs. These include devices that have been patented and published in patent application publications. These devices generally relate to various styles of hair dyeing and hair waxing combs that dispense a liquid. Many of these devices include combs having a plurality of tines wherein dye or a liquid can be dispensed therefrom. However, these devices fail to disclose a hair dying comb that includes a set of tines having upper and lower apertures, wherein hair dye can be selectively dispensed from the apertures by utilizing an actuator.
In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the known art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing hair dyeing comb devices. In this regard the instant invention substantially fulfills these needs.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of hair dyeing combs now present in the known art, the present invention provides a new hair dyeing comb wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when dyeing hair.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved hair dyeing comb device that has all of the advantages of the known art and none of the disadvantages.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a hair dyeing comb comprising a housing having an elongated body including a first end and a second end, wherein the elongated body includes an interior volume for storing hair dye. The first end of the elongated body includes a handle and the second end includes a plurality of tines extending perpendicularly from a bottom end thereof. Each tine of the plurality of tines includes an interior volume in fluid communication with the interior volume of the elongated body. Each tine further includes one or more apertures that dispense hair dye therethrough. The handle includes an actuator that dispenses hair dye from the one or more apertures on each of the plurality of tines upon selective actuation.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a hair dyeing comb that may be readily fabricated from materials that permit relative economy and are commensurate with durability.
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the hair dyeing comb. For the purposes of presenting a brief and clear description of the present invention, the preferred embodiment will be discussed as used for dyeing the hair of a user. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.
Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the hair dyeing comb. The hair dyeing comb 11 comprises a housing 12 having an elongated body 22 including a first end 13 and a second end 14, wherein the elongated body 22 includes an interior volume for storing hair dye therein. In the illustrated embodiment, the elongated body 22 comprises a substantially rectangular shape. However, any suitable shape or style of comb may be used for the housing 12. The housing 12 is constructed of a durable material, such as plastic, to provide a rigid structure that can be combed through a user's hair. Further, the housing 12 is constructed of a stain resistant material, wherein hair dye will not stain the surface of the housing 12.
The first end 13 of the elongated body 22 includes a handle 15, while the second end 14 includes a plurality of tines 16 extending perpendicularly from a bottom end 17 thereof. In the illustrated embodiment, the handle 15 slopes downwardly at an angle away from the elongated body 22. However, any suitable configuration may be used. Each tine of the plurality of tines 16 includes an interior volume that is in fluid communication with the interior volume of the elongated body 22. Each tine further includes one or more apertures 18 configured to dispense hair dye therethrough.
The handle 15 includes an actuator 19 configured to dispense hair dye from the one or more apertures 18 on each of the plurality of tines 16 upon selective actuation by a user. In the illustrated embodiment, the actuator 19 is a trigger. However, other forms of actuators 19 may be used, such as a button or knob. In this way, hair dye stored within the interior volume of the elongated body 22 is configured to flow to the interior volume of each tine, such that the hair dye releases through the one or more apertures 18 when the actuator 19 is selectively actuated by a user. The actuator 19 allows a user to control the release of the hair dye when using the hair dyeing comb 11. When not in use, the actuator is configured to remain in a closed position, such that no hair dye is dispensed from the one or more apertures 18. In an alternative embodiment, the hair dyeing comb 11 includes an elongated cap that is configured to cover each of the one or more apertures 18 disposed on the plurality of tines 16. The elongated cap can be removably affixed to the tines 16 so as to prevent accidental or incidental extrusion of hair dye.
Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a close up view of an embodiment of the plurality of tines of the hair dyeing comb. In the illustrated embodiment, the one or more apertures 18 includes a first aperture 18A disposed on a sidewall 23 near the distal end 24 of each tine, and a second aperture 18B disposed on the distal end 24 of each tine. However, in alternative embodiments the one or more apertures 18 may be disposed at any suitable location along the tine. In the illustrated embodiment, the apertures 18A, 18B are disposed at the distal end of the tine to provide dispensed hair dye at the point where the tines contact the scalp when in use.
In the illustrated embodiment, the actuator 19 is a trigger disposed within a slot 30 on the bottom end of the comb 11. The trigger is configured to dispense hair dye 26 from each of the first 18A and second apertures 18B on each tine. In this way, when the user 25 pulls the trigger towards the handle, the dye 26 is adapted to flow through the interior volume of each tine and out through the apertures 18A, 18B. When the trigger is released, the trigger is configured to return to a forward position within the slot 19, such that the hair dye 26 ceases to flow through the apertures. In this way, the trigger allows the user to selectively dispense the hair dye when desired.
In the illustrated embodiment, each tine comprises a substantially rectangular shape having a beveled edge 29 around the distal end 24 thereof. The beveled edge 29 is configured to prevent the tine from becoming stuck when being combed through a user's hair. However, each tine of the plurality of tines may have any suitable shape to comb hair, such as, a tine with a pointed end.
Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a perspective view of the handle of the hair dyeing comb, wherein a dye container is received within an opening thereon. In the illustrated embodiment, the second end 13 of the comb 11 includes an opening 20 and a plug (as seen in FIG. 1, annotation 21), wherein the plug is removable such that the opening 20 is configured to receive a tip of a hair dye container 27 therethrough. The opening 20 is in liquid communication with the interior volume of the housing. In the illustrated embodiment, the hair dyeing comb 11 receives the hair dye bottle into the handle which is configured to extract the dye when the actuator is actuated.
Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown a perspective view of the hair dyeing comb, wherein hair dye is released into hair of a user. In use, the user 25 grasps the handle 15 of the hair dyeing comb 11 and actuates the actuator 19 to release hair dye 26 from the one or more apertures disposed on each of the tines 16. In the illustrated embodiment, the actuator 19 is a trigger. The positioning of the trigger allows a user to selectively control the release of the hair dye 26 while combing the tines of the comb 11 through the user's hair 28. When an adequate amount of hair dye is applied to the user's hair, the user can release the trigger in order to stop the flow of hair dye from the comb.
It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

I claim:

1) A hair dyeing comb, comprising:

a housing comprising an elongated body having a first end and a second end, wherein the elongated body includes an interior volume for storing hair dye;

wherein the first end includes a handle and the second end includes a plurality of tines extending perpendicularly from a bottom end thereof;

wherein each tine of the plurality of tines includes an interior volume in fluid communication with the interior volume of the elongated body;

wherein each tine includes one or more apertures configured to receive hair dye therethrough;

wherein the handle includes an actuator configured to emit hair dye from the one or more apertures on each of the plurality of tines when the trigger is actuated.

2) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the elongated body comprises a substantially rectangular shape.

3) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the second end includes an opening having a removably securable plug, wherein the opening is configured to receive hair dye therethrough.

4) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the one or more apertures includes a first aperture disposed on a sidewall of each tine of the plurality of tines, and a second aperture disposed on a distal end of each tine of the plurality of tines.

5) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein each tine of the plurality of tines includes a beveled edge around a distal end thereof.

6) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein each tine of the plurality of tines comprises a substantially rectangular shape.

7) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the housing is constructed of a durable material.

8) The hair dyeing comb of claim 7, wherein the durable material is plastic.

9) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the housing is constructed of a stain resistant material.

10) The hair dyeing comb of claim 1, wherein the actuator is a trigger.

11) The hair dyeing comb of claim 10, wherein the trigger is disposed within a slot on the bottom end of the elongated body.
