The gloves 1 and 100 are also useful on the interior of typical baseball gloves to add extra padding.

Abstract

A first glove may include a pinky, ring, middle, index, and thumb finger sections which are configured to receive a person's pinky, ring, middle, index, and thumb fingers of the person's first hand. At least one of the pinky, ring, middle, index, and thumb finger sections, may have a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The first glove may have a palm section to which the pinky, ring, middle, index, and thumb finger sections, are connected, on which at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the first glove. Each of the pinky, ring, middle, index, and thumb finger sections may have a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The palm section of the first glove may have second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to improved methods and apparatus concerning sports or athletic gloves.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • There are various devices known sports or athletic gloves.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In at least one embodiment, an apparatus is provided comprising a first glove having a palm-side and a back hand side. The first glove may include a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of the person's first hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's first hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's first hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's first hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's first hand.
  • In at least one embodiment, at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The first glove may have a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the first glove.
  • In at least one embodiment, each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The palm section of the first glove may have second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove; wherein the second further padded outer portion of the first glove is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
  • In at least one embodiment, each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has at least two padded outer portions on the palm-side of the first glove.
  • In at least one embodiment, the index finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the index finger section, wherein the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the index finger section of the first glove; wherein the material which the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone; and wherein a majority of the index finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove.
  • In at least one embodiment, the thumb finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the thumb finger section of the first glove, wherein the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the thumb finger section of the first glove; wherein the material which the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone; and wherein a majority of the thumb finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove.
  • The palm-side of the first glove may be made of leather, and the back hand side of the first glove may be made of a cloth which is not leather.
  • The apparatus may further include a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side; wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove. The left hand glove may be a mirror image of the right hand glove.
  • In at least one embodiment, a method is provided, which may include using the first glove to catch a ball on the palm-side of the first glove; wherein the first glove may be as previously described.
  • The method may further include using a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side to catch a ball on the palm side of the second glove; wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove; as previously described.
  • The method may include catching a ball or hockey puck with both the first glove and the second glove simultaneously.

  • The right hand sports glove 1 includes pinky finger section 2, ring finger section 4, middle finger section 6, index finger section 8, and thumb section 10. The sections 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 include protrusions 2 a-2 b, 4 a-4 b, 6 a-6 b, 8 b-8 c, and 10 b-10 c, respectively, on the palm-side of the right hand sports glove 1. The protrusions 2 a-b, 4 a-b, 8 b-c, and 10 b-c may be padded sections of durable material which are designed for gripping and catching, such as synthetic material stiff foam padding under palm material glazed with sticky cotton material and stitching from top. In at least one embodiment, the primary purpose of the padded sections or protrusions 2 a-b, 4 a-b, 8 b-c, and 10 b-c, is to reduce the effects of catching an item, such as a baseball or hockey puck in the palm facing area and finger facing area, i.e. the padded sections 2 a-b, 4 a-b, 8 b-c, and 10 b-c add a palm padded comfort cushion.
  • The index finger section 8 and the thumb section 10 also include sections 8 a and 10 a, respectively, in at least one embodiment, and sections 8 a and 10 a may have a synthetic touch screen material on pointer finger and thumb for using on cellphone screen to text.
  • The right hand sports glove 1 also includes protrusions 12, 14, and 16, in a palm area of the palm-side of the glove 1, which may be padded sections of durable material design for gripping and catching, such as synthetic material stiff foam padding under finger material glazed with sticky cotton material and stitching from top. In at least one embodiment, the primary purpose of the padded sections of protrusions 12, 14, and 16 is to reduce the effects of catching an item, such as a baseball, hockey puck, in the palm/finger facing area, i.e. sections 12, 14, and 16 provide a palm padded comfort cushion
  • The right hand sports glove 1 also includes wrist section 18 have portions 18 b and 18 a, which attach together as shown in FIG. 7. A surface of portion 18 a, abuts, comes in contact with, and is adjacent to a surface of portion 18 b, when portions 18 a and 18 b are attached. The abutting surfaces of portions 18 a and 18 b may include mating Velcro (trademarked) portions, which connect together to temporarily attach portions 18 a and 18 b. The wrist section 18 may include piping or edge portion 18 c shown in FIG. 1, which may be made of a colored synthetic material, such as a colored neoprene. A similar or identical wrist section 118 of left hand glove 100 may include a similar or identical piping or edge portion 118 c, shown in FIG. 8.
  • The right hand sports glove 1 may include sections 22 and 24 on the palm-side shown in FIG. 1. Sections 22 and 24 may be made of a durable material, such as real goat skin leather.
  • The right hand sports glove 1 may include section 20, shown in FIG. 1, and a section 26 shown on the backhand side in FIG. 3. The section 20 and finger gussets 2 c, 4 c, 4 d, 6 c, 6 d, and 8 d, i.e. sections between fingers, may be made of a colored lycra material. The section 26 on the backhand side of FIG. 3, or top hand side may be made of polyester Italian mesh.
  • The right hand sports glove 1 includes an inner chamber 28 shown in FIG. 7, into which the right hand 204 a of a person 200 is inserted. Sections 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, have inner chamber portions of the inner chamber 28, into which a pinky finger, ring finger, middle finger, index finger, and thumb, respectively, of the person 200 are inserted to place the glove on the right hand 204 a of the person 200. The person 200 also has a right arm 204 connected to the right hand 204 a.
  • FIG. 8 shows a palm-side, left, and top perspective view of a left hand sports glove 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 9 shows an elevational palm-side view of the left hand sports glove 100. FIG. 10 shows an elevational backhand view of the left hand sports glove 100. FIG. 11 shows an elevational left side view of the left hand sports glove 100. FIG. 12 shows an elevational right side view of the left hand sports glove 100. FIG. 13 shows an elevational top view of the left hand sports glove 100. FIG. 14 shows an elevational bottom view of the left hand sports glove 100.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 includes pinky finger section 102, ring finger section 104, middle finger section 106, index finger section 108, and thumb section 110. The sections 102, 104, 106, 108, and 110 include protrusions 102 a-102 b, 104 a-104 b, 106 a-106 b, 108 b-108 c, and 110 b-110 c, respectively, on the palm-side of the left hand sports glove 100. The protrusions 102 a-b, 104 a-b, 106 a-b, 108 b-c, and 110 b-c may be padded sections of durable material which are designed for gripping and catching, such as synthetic material stiff foam padding under palm material glazed with sticky cotton material and stitching from top. In at least one embodiment, the primary purpose of the padded sections or protrusions 102 a-b, 104 a-b, 106 a-b, 108 b-c, and 110 b-c, is to reduce the effects of catching an item, such as a baseball or hockey puck, in the palm facing area and finger facing area, i.e. the padded sections 102 a-b, 104 a-b, 106 a-b, 108 b-c, and 110 b-c add a palm padded comfort cushion.
  • The index finger section 108 and the thumb section 110 also include sections 108 a and 110 a, respectively, in at least one embodiment, having a synthetic touch screen material on pointer finger and thumb for using on cellphone screen to text.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 also includes protrusions 112, 114, and 116, in a palm area of the palm-side of the glove 100, which may be for the same or similar purpose as protrusions 12, 14, 16 of glove 1. The protrusions 12, 14, and 16 and the protrusions 112, 114, and 116, are shaped to cover the natural contours of a person's right or left palm, respectively.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 also includes wrist section 118 have portions 118 b and 118 a, which attach together as shown in FIG. 14. A surface of portion 118 a, abuts, comes in contact with, and is adjacent to a surface of portion 118 b, when portions 118 a and 118 b are attached. The abutting surfaces of portions 118 a and 118 b may include mating Velcro (trademarked) portions, which connect together to temporarily attach portions 118 a and 118 b. The wrist section 118 may be a colored neoprene around wrist support.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 may include sections 122 and 124 on the palm-side shown in FIG. 8. Sections 122 and 124, similar or identical to sections 22 and 24 for the right hand glove 1, may be made of a durable material, such as real goat skin leather.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 may include section 120, shown in FIG. 8, and a section 126 shown on the backhand side in FIG. 10, which made be made of a similar material to section 20 of the right hand glove 1.
  • The left hand sports glove 100 includes an inner chamber 128 shown in FIG. 14, into which the left hand 206 a of a person 200 is inserted, as shown in FIG. 15. Sections 102, 104, 106, 108, and 110, have inner chamber portions of the inner chamber 128, into which a pinky finger, ring finger, middle finger, index finger, and thumb, respectively, of the person 200 are inserted to place the glove 100 on the left hand 206 a of the person 200. The person 200 also has a left arm 206 connected to the left hand 206 a.
  • The gloves 1 and 100 reduce injury from catching items. Gloves 1 and 100 are particularly useful for catching foul balls at baseball games or hockey pucks at hockey games. A person trying to catch a foul ball or hockey puck with their bare hands may break bones in their hand. In addition, little leaguers may use the gloves 1 and 100 to prevent sting from aluminum baseball bats, when hitting a ball, particularly in cold weather. Also parents or guardians may use the gloves 1 and 100 to have catches with their kids in the back yard, in the case whether they don't have a baseball glove, or want something less cumbersome. The gloves 1 and 100 are also useful on the interior of typical baseball gloves to add extra padding.
  • Although the invention has been described by reference to particular illustrative embodiments thereof, many changes and modifications of the invention may become apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is therefore intended to include within this patent all such changes and modifications as may reasonably and properly be included within the scope of the present invention's contribution to the art.

Claims (20)

I claim:
1. A apparatus comprising:
a first glove having a palm-side and a back hand side;
wherein the first glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of the person's first hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's first hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's first hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's first hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's first hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove; and
wherein the first glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the first glove.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein
each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove.
3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein
the palm section of the first glove has second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove;
wherein the second further padded outer portion of the first glove is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
4. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein
each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has at least two padded outer portions on the palm-side of the first glove.
5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein
the palm section has second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove;
wherein the second further padded outer portion is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein
the index finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the index finger section, wherein the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the index finger section of the first glove;
wherein the material which the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone;
and wherein a majority of the index finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove.
7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein
the thumb finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the thumb finger section of the first glove, wherein the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the thumb finger section of the first glove;
wherein the material which the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone;
and wherein a majority of the thumb finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove.
8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein
the palm-side of the first glove is made of leather, and the back hand side of the first glove is made of a cloth which is not leather.
9. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising
a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side;
wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove;
wherein the left hand glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of their left hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's left hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's left hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's left hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's left hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove; and
wherein the left hand glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the left hand glove.
10. The apparatus of claim 2 further comprising
a left hand glove having a palm-side and a back hand side;
wherein the left hand glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of their left hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's left hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's left hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's left hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's left hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove;
wherein the left hand glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the left hand glove; and
wherein each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the left hand glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove.
11. A method comprising
using a first glove to catch a ball on a palm-side of the first glove; and
wherein the first glove includes the palm-side and a back hand side;
wherein the first glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of the person's first hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's first hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's first hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's first hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's first hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove; and
wherein the first glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the first glove.
12. The method of claim 11 wherein
each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove.
13. The method of claim 12 wherein
the palm section of the first glove has second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove;
wherein the second further padded outer portion of the first glove is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
14. The method of claim 12 wherein
each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has at least two padded outer portions on the palm-side of the first glove.
15. The method of claim 14 wherein
the palm section has second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove;
wherein the second further padded outer portion is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
16. The method of claim 11 wherein
the index finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the index finger section, wherein the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the index finger section of the first glove;
wherein the material which the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a first field on a touch screen of a cell phone;
and wherein a majority of the index finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove; and
further comprising using the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove to select the first field on the touch screen of the cell phone.
17. The method of claim 16 wherein
the thumb finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the thumb finger section of the first glove, wherein the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the thumb finger section of the first glove;
wherein the material which the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a second field on the touch screen of the cell phone;
and wherein a majority of the thumb finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove; and
further comprising using the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove to select the second field on the touch screen of the cell phone.
18. The method of claim 11 wherein
the palm-side of the first glove is made of leather, and the back hand side of the first glove is made of a cloth which is not leather.
19. The method of claim 11 further comprising
using a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side to catch a ball on the palm side of the second glove;
wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove;
wherein the left hand glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of their left hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's left hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's left hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's left hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's left hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove; and
wherein the left hand glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the left hand glove.
20. The method of claim 12 further comprising
a left hand glove having a palm-side and a back hand side;
wherein the left hand glove includes, a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of their left hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's left hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's left hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's left hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's left hand;
wherein at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove;
wherein the left hand glove has a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the left hand glove; and
wherein each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the left hand glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the left hand glove.
