Abstract
Described herein is a half-moon shaped pillow made of medium to firm memory foam at a 40-degree slope so that children and adults are at the optimal slope to prevent congestion and coughing during sleep.
Description
- The invention relates generally to a half-moon shaped pillow made of medium to firm memory foam at a 40-degree slope so that children and adults are at the optimal slope to prevent congestion and coughing during sleep.
- Currently there are a number of solutions for propping up a child or adult in bed to help relief coughing and congestion while they are trying to sleep. One of these solutions attempts to use a number of standard pillows, but this solution fails to meet the needs of the market because the pillows commonly do not stay in place through the whole night due to the sleeper's tossing and turning. Another solution attempts to use a reclining chair to sleep in, but this solution is similarly unable to meet the needs of the market because sleeping in a chair is uncomfortable and not everyone has a recliner.
- It would be advantageous to have an apparatus that would prop a person up at a 40-degree angle to sleep when they are sick to avoid excessive coughing. Furthermore, it would also be advantageous to have an apparatus that is designed in a half-moon or arcuate shape to keep the sleeper's head in place and prevent them from rolling off the pillow. Still further, it would be advantageous to have an apparatus that is lined with a waterproof material that can be wiped clean. Therefore, there currently exists a need in the market for an apparatus that is a uniquely designed pillow that elevates the head at the recommended 40-degree slope relative to the resting surface, preventing draining and coughing while sleeping.
- The invention advantageously fills the aforementioned deficiencies by providing a half-moon shaped pillow made of medium to firm memory foam at a 40-degree slope so that children and adults are at the optimal slope to prevent congestion and coughing during sleep, which provides a good night's sleep for the user and caregiver.
- The invention is a specially shaped and dimensioned pillow to prop up a user at an angle to help prevent coughing and congestion while the user is trying to sleep.
- The apparatus has a shaped design to keep the user from rolling off of the pillow in the middle of the night.
- The apparatus is lined with a breathable, waterproof material that can easily be wiped clean and offers extra pillow covets to put over the apparatus.
- The apparatus fulfills the need for relief from congestion and coughing while trying to sleep.
- Among other things, it is an advantage of the invention to provide a half-moon or arcuate shaped pillow made of medium to firm memory foam at a 40-degree slope relative to the resting surface to allow a user relief from congestion and coughing during sleep that does not suffer from any of the problems or deficiencies associated with prior solutions.
- It is still further an advantage of the invention to be available in adult and children's sizes.
- The invention now will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, which are intended to be read in conjunction with both this summary, the detailed description and any preferred and/or particular embodiments specifically discussed or otherwise disclosed. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided by way of illustration only and so that this disclosure will be thorough, complete and will fully convey the full scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.

It should be appreciated that various aspects of the subject matter introduced above and discussed in greater detail below may be implemented in any of numerous ways, as the subject matter is not limited to any particular manner of implementation. Examples of specific implementations and applications are provided primarily for illustrative purposes.
- The invention is directed to be a half-moon shaped pillow made of a medium to firm memory foam and having a 40-degree slope relative to a resting surface to place user's at the optimal position to prevent congestion and coughing during sleep. The invention is designed with a medium to firm memory foam that provides comfort while maintaining a specific dimensioned shape and slope. The device also comes with an external pillow cover that can be easily removed and cleaned in a washing machine. The pillow itself is lined with a breathable, waterproof material that can easily be wiped clean.
- The invention is a uniquely designed pillow that keeps the user's head elevated at a recommended 40-degree slope. This slope prevents draining and coughing while sleeping.
- Referring to the figures,
FIGS. 1-6 show the pillow device of the present invention and generally referred to asdevice 10. Thedevice 10 generally is constructed out of a medium to firm density memory foam forming ablock portion 100 of the device. Theblock portion 100 forms the depth of thedevice 10 and includes sidewalls and a back wall. Afront wall 102 of theblock portion 100 is generally tapered in profile from a position adjacent to a surface thedevice 10 is resting upon to a position higher than the surface thedevice 10 is rested upon, wherein the slope of the taper from thefront wall 102 to the back wall is at least 40 degrees. Thefront wall 102 is further dimensioned with an arcuate, crescent, or half-moon shape 101 to form a resting a surface for the head of a user of thedevice 10. Accordingly, the user will place their head and neck onto thefront wall 102 of thedevice 10 where it will be supported by the tapered andshaped resting surface 101. - Various related embodiments of the invention are also described in Appendix A, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- While the invention has been described above in terms of specific embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to these disclosed embodiments. Upon reading the teachings of this disclosure many modifications and other embodiments of the invention will come to mind of those skilled in the art to which this invention pertains, and which are intended to be and are covered by both this disclosure and the appended claims. It is indeed intended that the scope of the invention should be determined by proper interpretation and construction of the appended claims and their legal equivalents, as understood by those of skill in the art relying upon the disclosure in this specification and the attached drawings.
