Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a device for transmitting a restraining force to the body of a runner during running training, having a strap to be wrapped around the body and an element for connecting the strap to a tension cord that transmits the restraining force.
- Such a device that transmits the force of a restraining device to the body of a runner and comprises a strap and a connecting element is disclosed in
DE 10 2011 053 199 A1. The restraining force transmissible by the device always acts in the same direction on the runner. - The invention is based on the object of creating a novel device of the type mentioned at the beginning, which allows running training with more variants than conventional devices of this type.
- The device according to the invention that achieves this object is characterized in that the connecting element engages behind the strap and, upon a body rotation of the runner, rolls and/or slides in the strap circumferential direction over the strap inner side facing the body.
- Advantageously, the device according to the invention allows any desired body rotations during running with a constantly applied restraining load, such that the runner can change for example from running forward to running backward, optionally via running sideways.
- The strap may be configured as a nondetachably closed strap, optionally endless, i.e. without connected ends.
- In one embodiment, the strap has, on its inner side facing the body of the runner, a surface that promotes the gripping of the strap on the body.
- Advantageously, the strap does not slide downward off the body even when, according to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, it has a greater circumference than the body of the runner. Such a wide strap ensures that there is enough room for the connecting element to perform a rolling and/or sliding movement.
- While the connecting piece could be connected for example captively to the restraining cord, it is preferably connected nondetachably and thus captively to the strap, wherein it engages around the strap for example in the manner of an eye.
- The connecting piece expediently has a roller which extends over the entire width or virtually the entire width of the strap.
- In a particularly preferred embodiment, the connecting piece comprises a metal core encapsulated with plastics material, which gives the connecting piece high stability, while the outer side is advantageously formed by a softer material.
- In particular, the connecting piece is configured in a plate-like manner with a cutout for the strap to pass through, wherein the roller is preferably arranged within the cutout.
- Expediently, the cutout is closed all around, thereby giving the connecting piece stability in addition.
- Expediently, the roller is rotatable about an axle pin which is welded to the metal core and is partially co-encapsulated with the plastics material.
- The invention is explained further in the following text on the basis of an exemplary embodiment and the accompanying drawings which relate to this exemplary embodiment and in which:
-
FIG. 1 shows a device according to the invention in different working positions, -
FIG. 2 shows a side view of a connecting piece used in the device inFIG. 1 , and -
FIG. 3 shows a plan view of the connecting piece inFIG. 2 . - A device for transmitting a restraining force comprises a strap 1 and an
element 2 via which the strap 1 is connectable to a tension cord 4 that exerts the restraining force along arrow 3. The tension cord 4 can be a constituent part of a restraining device (not shown), as is disclosed for example in the abovementioned application. - In the example shown, the strap 1 consists of a firm fabric made of plastics threads and has a width of 5 cm. As a result of overlapping ends being sewn together, the strap 1 is closed nondetachably to form a ring.
- As can be seen in
FIGS. 2 and 3 , the connectingelement 2 is configured substantially in a plate-like manner with acutout 5 in the form of a rectangular eye opening for the strap 1 to pass through and a circular eye opening 6 for coupling the tension cord 4. Aroller 7 mounted on anaxle pin 8 so as to be able to rotate projects into the rectangular eye opening 5, the length of saidroller 7 corresponding approximately to the width of the strap 1 in the example shown. - In the example shown, the connecting
element 2 has a sheet steel core 9, illustrated by dashed lines, onto which a plastics coating is injection-molded. While the sheet steel core 9 is set back with respect to the outer plate rim and the edge of the rectangular eye opening, it projects right up to the circular eye opening 6. - The
axle pin 8 is welded at its ends to the sheet steel core 9. As can be seen inFIG. 3 , the plastics coating has a thickenedportion 10 in these connecting regions. - In order to use the device, a training runner, for example, puts the strap 1 around their
body 11 and couples the connectingpiece 2, which is connected to the strap captively in a form-fitting manner in the example shown, for example with the aid of asnap hook 12 to the cord 4 of the restraining device. As a result of a tensile force exerted constantly along arrow 3 by the restraining device, the strap 1 rests frictionally against thebody 11 without sliding down and the connectingelement 2 is kept at a distance from thebody 11. - During their running movement, the runner has to constantly overcome a restraining force, with the result that the achievable training effect can be enhanced. As
FIG. 1b shows, the device allows a rotation of thebody 11 alongarrow 13 with a restraining load applied, wherein theroller 7 of the connectingpiece 2 rolls in the strap circumferential direction alongarrow 14 over the strap inner side.
