Abstract
A yoga pad includes a base layer having a first side and a second side, and each of the first and second sides has multiple grooves defined therein so as to define sections separated by the grooves. Each groove has an inner bottom, and two ramp portions extend from two sides of each of the inner bottom. Each section has a flat portion which is connected between the two ramp portions corresponding thereto. A netted layer is attached to at least one of the first side and the second side, and has multiple apertures. Each ramp portion has at least one boss which protrudes beyond each of the apertures located corresponding to the ramp portion to provide friction to the users.
Description
- The present invention relates to a yoga pad, and more particularly, to a foldable yoga pad with bosses formed on the yoga pad to provide sufficient friction.
- The conventional yoga pad is generally made of foam material which provides cushion feature such that the users feel comfortable on the yoga pad. Most of the yoga pads are designed to be rolled up when not in use. However, even after the yoga pad is rolled, the size of the roll of the yoga pad is not easily controlled, in other words, some users tend to roll the yoga pad tightly so that the diameter of the roll is small, and some users tend to roll the yoga pad to have an obvious large diameter of the roll. The diameters of the rolls of the yoga pads actually affect storage or carry of the yoga pads.
- Some yoga pads can be folded to become a rectangular pad unit. Nevertheless, the folding portions usually cause different density of the foam material, and this might affect use of the yoga pad. Some foldable yoga pads have a netted layer attached to the surface of the yoga pads, the users can quickly find out that the friction beside the folding areas is not sufficient when the users try to find support for their knees around the folding areas.
- The present invention intends to provide a foldable yoga pad that provides bosses to provide sufficient friction to the users.
- The present invention relates to a yoga pad and comprises a soft base layer which includes a first side and a second side which is located opposite to the first side. Each of the first and second sides has multiple grooves defined therein so as to define sections separated by the grooves.
- The primary object of the present invention is to provide a yoga pad that provides better anti-slippery feature to the users.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a yoga pad wherein when the users knee on the grooves, the bosses provide anti-slippery feature to the users.
- The present invention will become more apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show the folded status of the yoga pad of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view to show the expanded status of the yoga pad of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view to show the folded area of the yoga pad of the present invention; -
FIG. 4 is an enlarged view to show the groove of the yoga pad of the present invention, and -
FIG. 5 is a cross sectional view to show the yoga pad of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 to 5 , theyoga pad 1 of the present invention comprises a base layer which is made of foam material, and the foam material is one of polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The base layer includes afirst side 12 and asecond side 14 which is located opposite to thefirst side 12 and contacts floor. Each of the first andsecond sides multiple grooves 16 defined transversely therein so as to definesections 100 separated by thegrooves 16. Preferably, thesections 100 each are a rectangular section. Thegrooves 16 in thefirst side 12 are located alternatively to thegrooves 16 in thesecond side 14, so that theyoga pad 1 can be folded from each of the first andsecond sides grooves 16. Thegrooves 16 in thefirst side 12 are recessed toward thesecond side 14, and thegrooves 16 in thesecond side 14 are recessed toward thefirst side 12. Eachgroove 16 has aninner bottom 162, and tworamp portions 102 extend from two sides of each of theinner bottom 162. Eachsection 100 has a flat portion which is connected between the tworamp portions 102 corresponding thereto. - A
netted layer 20 hasmultiple apertures 22 defined therethrough. Thenetted layer 20 is attached to at least one of thefirst side 12 and thesecond side 14 by any known method such as gluing, heat-pressing to securely attach thenetted layer 20 to the base layer. The flat portions of thesections 100 extend through theapertures 22 of thenetted layer 20 and are in flush with the top surface of thenetted layer 20. - Each
ramp portion 102 has at least oneboss 1022 protruding beyond each of theapertures 22 which are located corresponding to theramp portion 102. Theramp portions 102 each are a curved ramp. Thebosses 1022 are arranged in a row. The radius of each of theramp portions 102 is less than 15 mm, such that the at least oneboss 1022 protrudes beyond theapertures 22 located corresponding to theramp portions 102 to provide proper friction to the users. - When the users knee at the
grooves 16, thebosses 1022 provide sufficient friction so that the users do not slip and can maintain the poses as desired. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
