Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure
  • The disclosure relates to polishing devices and more particularly pertains to a new polishing device for sanding fingernails and toenails.
  • SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a vibration unit that may be manipulated. A sander is removably coupled to the vibration unit. The sander may frictionally engage a nail when the vibration unit is manipulated. Thus, the sander may sand the nail.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of a fingernail polishing assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a right side phantom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a bottom perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new polishing device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the fingernail polishing assembly 10 generally comprises a vibration unit 12 that may be manipulated. The vibration unit 12 comprises a housing 14 that has a first wall 16. A motor 18 is positioned within the housing 14. The motor 18 may comprise an oscillating electric motor or the like.
  • A shaft 20 is coupled to the motor 18 and the motor 18 moves the shaft 20 in an orbit. The shaft 20 has a distal end 22 with respect to the motor 18. The shaft 20 extends through the first wall 16 having the distal end 22 being exposed with respect to the housing 14. The orbit lies on a plane that is planar with the first wall 16 of the housing 14.
  • A plate 24 is provided. The plate 24 that has a first surface 26 and a peripheral edge 28. The first surface 26 is coupled to the distal end 22 of the shaft 20. Thus, the plate 24 moves along the orbit when the motor 18 moves the shaft 20.
  • At least one switch 30 is coupled to the housing 14 and the at least one switch 30 may be manipulated. The at least one switch 30 is electrically coupled to the motor 18. Thus, the at least one switch 30 turns the motor 18 on and off. Moreover, the at least one switch 30 controls operational parameters of the motor 18 such as speed and the like.
  • A power cord 32 is electrically coupled to the motor 18 and the power cord 32 extends outwardly from the housing 14. The power cord 32 has a distal end 34 with respect to the housing 14. A plug 36 is electrically coupled to the distal end 34 and the plug 36 may be electrically coupled to a power source 38. The power source 38 may comprise an electrical outlet or the like.
  • A sander 40 is provided. The sander 40 is removably coupled to the vibration unit 12. Thus, the sander 40 may frictionally engage a nail 42 when the vibration unit 12 is manipulated thereby facilitating the sander 40 to sand the nail 42. The nail 42 may be a fingernail and a toenail on a person.
  • The sander 40 comprises a tray 44 that has a top surface 46 and a bottom surface 48. The bottom surface 48 has a well 50 extending toward the top surface 46. A lip 52 extends upwardly from the top surface 46. The lip 52 is continuous such that the lip 52 forms a circular shape and the lip 52 is centrally positioned on the tray 44. The lip 52 frictionally engages the peripheral edge 28 on the plate 24 when the sander 40 is removably coupled to the vibration unit 12. Thus, the tray 44 is retained on the plate 24.
  • A plurality of pads 54 is provided. Each of the pads 54 has a primary surface 56 and a secondary surface 58. A selected one of the pads 54 is positioned in the well 50 on the tray 44 having the primary surface 56 abutting the tray 44. The secondary surface 58 is textured. Thus, the selected pad 54 may abrade the nail 42 when vibration unit 12 is manipulated. The secondary surface 58 corresponding to each pad 54 may have varying degrees of abrasion with respect to each other. Moreover, each of the pads 54 may comprise nail buffing pads or the like.
  • An adhesive layer 60 is positioned on the primary surface 56 corresponding to each of the pads 54. The adhesive layer 60 adhesively engages the tray 44 when the selected pad 54 is positioned in the well 50. Thus, the selected pad 54 is retained on the tray 44. The adhesive layer 60 may comprise a non-residual adhesive or the like.
  • In use, the selected pad 54 is positioned in the well 60. The selected pad 54 is chosen according to the desired degree of abrasion with respect to the nail 42. The tray 44 is couple to the plate 24. The at least one switch 30 is manipulated to turn the motor 18 on and the shaft 20 oscillates the tray 44 when the motor 18 is turned on. The housing 14 is manipulated such that the secondary surface 58 of the selected pad 54 frictionally engages the nail 42. Thus, the nail 42 is sanded and polished.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.
  • A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
