FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new polishing device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 4 , thefingernail polishing assembly 10 generally comprises avibration unit 12 that may be manipulated. Thevibration unit 12 comprises ahousing 14 that has afirst wall 16. Amotor 18 is positioned within thehousing 14. Themotor 18 may comprise an oscillating electric motor or the like. - A
shaft 20 is coupled to themotor 18 and themotor 18 moves theshaft 20 in an orbit. Theshaft 20 has adistal end 22 with respect to themotor 18. Theshaft 20 extends through thefirst wall 16 having thedistal end 22 being exposed with respect to thehousing 14. The orbit lies on a plane that is planar with thefirst wall 16 of thehousing 14. - A
plate 24 is provided. Theplate 24 that has afirst surface 26 and aperipheral edge 28. Thefirst surface 26 is coupled to thedistal end 22 of theshaft 20. Thus, theplate 24 moves along the orbit when themotor 18 moves theshaft 20. - At least one
switch 30 is coupled to thehousing 14 and the at least oneswitch 30 may be manipulated. The at least oneswitch 30 is electrically coupled to themotor 18. Thus, the at least oneswitch 30 turns themotor 18 on and off. Moreover, the at least oneswitch 30 controls operational parameters of themotor 18 such as speed and the like. - A
power cord 32 is electrically coupled to themotor 18 and thepower cord 32 extends outwardly from thehousing 14. Thepower cord 32 has adistal end 34 with respect to thehousing 14. Aplug 36 is electrically coupled to thedistal end 34 and theplug 36 may be electrically coupled to apower source 38. Thepower source 38 may comprise an electrical outlet or the like. - A
sander 40 is provided. Thesander 40 is removably coupled to thevibration unit 12. Thus, thesander 40 may frictionally engage anail 42 when thevibration unit 12 is manipulated thereby facilitating thesander 40 to sand thenail 42. Thenail 42 may be a fingernail and a toenail on a person. - The
sander 40 comprises atray 44 that has atop surface 46 and abottom surface 48. Thebottom surface 48 has a well 50 extending toward thetop surface 46. Alip 52 extends upwardly from thetop surface 46. Thelip 52 is continuous such that thelip 52 forms a circular shape and thelip 52 is centrally positioned on thetray 44. Thelip 52 frictionally engages theperipheral edge 28 on theplate 24 when thesander 40 is removably coupled to thevibration unit 12. Thus, thetray 44 is retained on theplate 24. - A plurality of
pads 54 is provided. Each of thepads 54 has aprimary surface 56 and asecondary surface 58. A selected one of thepads 54 is positioned in thewell 50 on thetray 44 having theprimary surface 56 abutting thetray 44. Thesecondary surface 58 is textured. Thus, theselected pad 54 may abrade thenail 42 whenvibration unit 12 is manipulated. Thesecondary surface 58 corresponding to eachpad 54 may have varying degrees of abrasion with respect to each other. Moreover, each of thepads 54 may comprise nail buffing pads or the like. - An
adhesive layer 60 is positioned on theprimary surface 56 corresponding to each of thepads 54. Theadhesive layer 60 adhesively engages thetray 44 when theselected pad 54 is positioned in thewell 50. Thus, theselected pad 54 is retained on thetray 44. Theadhesive layer 60 may comprise a non-residual adhesive or the like. - In use, the
selected pad 54 is positioned in thewell 60. Theselected pad 54 is chosen according to the desired degree of abrasion with respect to thenail 42. Thetray 44 is couple to theplate 24. The at least oneswitch 30 is manipulated to turn themotor 18 on and theshaft 20 oscillates thetray 44 when themotor 18 is turned on. Thehousing 14 is manipulated such that thesecondary surface 58 of the selectedpad 54 frictionally engages thenail 42. Thus, thenail 42 is sanded and polished. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.
- A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
